Denver -- The Colorado State Board of Health on Wednesday approved a program through which poor medical-marijuana patients can apply to the state registry for free and not have to pay sales tax on their cannabis purchases. But the standard the board approved for determining who is poor enough to qualify for the program upset medical-marijuana advocates, who said some indigent patients will still be stuck with a bill. And even some board members expressed frustration that the health department — which has received millions of dollars in application fees since the medical-marijuana program began — couldn't put together a program that includes more patients.
"I just think with however many millions of dollars, we could have done a better job," said board member Joelle Riddle. The program was prompted by a bill passed in the legislature this year telling the health department to come up with a way for indigent patients to avoid paying the $90 fee when they apply to the state's medical-marijuana registry. Patients who qualify also will receive a special mark on their registry cards that shows they don't have to pay sales tax.To determine who qualifies, the department decided to rely on other measures of indigence, such as whether the patient receives Supplemental Security Income or food stamps. Ann Hause, the department's director of legal and regulatory affairs, said the health department doesn't have the staffing to do unique evaluations of patients. I didn't think I'd cry about her today, but I did.
She fought so hard against terrible pain... so that she could keep fighting with us.I'm still sad that Robin didn't have the fight in her and lay down to die by her own hand and give up the fight. She left us to fight with one less on our side. I know she was mentally ill... but still... she gave up and I didn't want her to give up... I wanted her to keep fighting if she had to drag herself to every effort. Michelle didn't do that. She fought to the end when she couldn't anymore. She wanted to live and keep fighting the good fight. She left fighting films and many fighting words. She wanted to see victory in our quest, for the sake of victory over injustice. For the sake of freedom of mankind from overreaching government. She fought for Freedom and Justice. I love her so much for that.Wasn't she beautiful? Didn't she shine?

R.I.P. Michelle
"...DAMN government for stressing and harassing such a great person so bad they succumbed to illness...in my opinion it amounts to homicide."I was thinking the same thing, Steve.I heard Willie Nelson say once, "Doctors tell us that stress is the cause of most disease. Marijuana is the best medicine for stress in the world."A corollary to that might be, cannabis prohibition is one of the biggest causes of unnecessary stress in the world.By not only by attempting to deny the best medicine for stress to the people of the world, but by the threat and fact of arrest, incarceration, fines, asset forfeiture, legal fees, employment loss, education loss, and breaking up families and friends for years or even for eternity for no damn reason, cannabis prohibition has probably caused more disease and death than we ever imagined.

I’m not implying this was s knightshades situation. But...pay attention...Govt Has Kill Switch To Shut Down InternetBy george | October 10, 2010http://janetnapolitano.com/govt-has-kill-switch-to-shut-down-internetJanet Napolitano will be able to pull the plug on the Internet?September 14, 2010They want to pass this bill by the end of the year? You bet– no congressional oversight. Just what our Commander in thief would love. Knocking off the bloggers for four months. Janet? She is the one to pull the plug after all this nonsense in Arizona.. please.Under the new draft bill, which is a combination of the two versions originally crafted by Senators Joe Lieberman and Jay Rockefeller, Janet Napolitano’s DHS will be handed broader authority to determine how to handle potential cybersecurity threats.Senate Majority Harry Reid has put the measure on his list of top-priority bills to get through the Senate this year,” sources told MoneyControl.com.Lieberman’s version of the original bill includes language that would hand President Obama the power to shut down parts of the world wide web for at least four months with no congressional oversight. The combined version appears to shift that responsibility to DHS, who under the pretext of a national emergency could block all Internet traffic to the U.S. from certain countries, and close down specific hubs and networks, creating an ominous precedent for government regulation and control over the Internet.http://bunkerville.wordpress.com/2010/09/14/janet-napolitano-will-be-able-to-pull-the-plug-on-the-internet/

I don't know why either. The only internet I have is on my phone, and that's all I tried with during that time period. It was weird. Almost like ISP censorship or something. But anyways, I'm back!

cannabis & catnip
Hey guys. I haven't posted for a while because for months, I've gotten a "403 Forbidden" error while trying to load CN. Anyways, I ran across this article that you guys will lovehttp://www.alternet.org/drugs/148510/michael_pollan%3A_what_do_marijuana_and_catnip_have_in_common/One of the best reads I've had in a while. Oh, and on a sidenote, there were people discussing how there's not a cure for cancer on my local craigslist's rants & raves section. So of course, I posted a bunch of stuff about the real cure (our beloved plant.) And would you believe that less than an hour later, it was flagged & removed? Sigh...On another sidenote, I just released a new album called WiiD (like the Nintendo Wii, but with a D ;) ) and on my legalization song "Go Get F*cked" in the third verse, I explain HOW cannabis cures cancer and even give instructions on how to extract the oil! In rhyme form! Its pretty cool. Then at the end I give Rick Simpson's web address, as well as a link to some info about psilocybe mushrooms and their effectiveness as well. You can check it out at the link below :DWell, that's all for now. I hope you're all doing well and fighting the good fight hard. I'm going to continue sipping my "green" tea now :) take care!

Michelle was a soul of gold...may she be at peace
I will never forget her, or forgive our DAMN government for stressing and harassing such a great person so bad they succumbed to illness...in my opinion it amounts to homicide. I don't think many will ever know of all she did behind the scenes to ensure that cannabis is where it is today, but you can take my word that there are many folks standing our her shoulders!
I'm tired of losing loved ones,
let's end this madness and get down to real research!
peace,

So, it looks like the current penalty for speaking out against the federal govt. is 5 years in jail. So glad we pay all the billions of dollars in taxes to get men that act like 5-year old boys for a living. Clearly the govt. enforcers WANT everyone to keep using cannabis to provide human fodder for their prison/industrial machine. But they don't want you to talk about it and jeopardize their evil racket.Very sad about Michelle Rainey, hopefully cannabists of the future will remember how important her work was to a lot of people.
