Medical Marijuana Bill: Legalize It

New York -- The New York State Legislature doesn't seem to know what they have on their hands when it comes to the medical marijuana. For those who are in the dark on this issue, a medical marijuana bill passed the Assembly recently, but when it got to the Senate, the bill was criticized and a different piece of legislation on the issue has been discussed. It's likely that this issue will not be resolved anytime soon, even if the bill passes. Opponents of medical marijuana will try their damndest to shoot down this idea.
But what is really at stake here? Those who oppose legalizing marijuana for medical purposes are essentially giving the nod to potential Rush Limbaugh-style prescription painkiller madness. After all, on the one hand we have a substance which is not physically addictive, actually does alleviate pain (I can say this from experience), and is basically harmless if ingested properly. On the other, you have the uber-conservative Rush Limbaugh and his narcotics problem, brought on by inital use as proscribed by a doctor, if I remember my scandals properly. To deny a cancer patient medical marijuana is basically to tell them that We, The People, would rather they get addicted to narcotics. If your conscience can let you sleep at night with such a notion, fine. Maybe you'd feel more at home toruturing Iraqi prisoners of war instead of going to your day job. Why don't you enlist? We have plenty of job openings in the Armed Services, it's more or less a drug-free environment (except for the alcohol, of course) and once you gain a position of trust and authority, you can quickly turn into one of the bad apples who give the hardworking legit members of the military a bad name.Because that is essentially what you are doing to cancer patients and other pain sufferers by denying them a quick and effective NON NARCOTIC pain management solution. It's torture to give someone chemo, then force them to suffer withdrawl symptoms to avoid a long-term substance problem. At the risk of repeating myself here, by saying "no" to medical marijuana, you are basically the equivalent to one of those bad apples who ran rampant in those Iraqi detention centers. You are causing needless suffering, and you don't see any problem with it.Perhaps YOU can afford to go to a rehab clinic and dry out, but someone already strapped with huge medical bills and the loss of income from prolonged medical treatment is going to have a hard time trying to pay for a bed. They will just have to suck it up and go "cold turkey".That is, unless We The People wake up and allow pain sufferers to use a medical treatment option that doesn't make them a slave to the pill bottle. Ask Rush Limbaugh how he feels about THAT one.Source: Long Island Exchange (NY)Author: Joe WallacePublished: June 14, 2007 Copyright: 2007 Long Island Exchange Contact: joe longislandexchange.comWebsite: http://www.longislandexchange.com/Related Articles:Assembly Set To OK Medical-Marijuana Bill http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23074.shtmlMedical Marijuana Effort Gone To Pot?http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23072.shtmlLegislators Grapple Over How to Legalize Marijuanahttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23071.shtml

How About a Little Crocket
I was thinking about how much fun we had playing crocket and badminton before tv was a big thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crockethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton

I know that broadband connections for people in rural areas is something some of those running for president want. It might take a few more years but hopefully rural folks won't be penalyzed for living away from the rat race too much longer.

"children trying to download"
They download lots and lots of stuff. I'm not sure how they find it all. TV programs recommending downloads for children is part of it. Disney and Nick are huge. They love games and videos and the idea that they are communicating with people all over.

I expect a lawsuit will come from this. I keep looking but I haven't been able to find anything yet. I will take part in a suit if necessary. Some people will give up tv before the Internet because of videos and news doesn't have spin like on tv. It is almost paralyzing to HughesNet subscribers. Families are getting Fapped because of the children trying to download a few song or watch a few videos. The Internet is the present and the future of communication and it is sad to see people stopped dead in their tracks.

I don't imagine you could possibly abuse your bandwidth. They are just screwing their customers by misusing a policy. The whole reason people would move to a broadband connection is for greater download capacity for larger files such as video or music download and streaming. My guess is that your use is no greater than what most people are expecting for broadband. It sounds like Hughes is screwing customers so that they don't have to keep pace with the increase of rich media online.Could be time for some threat of class action regarding these penalties. Maybe calls or letters to local papers and news stations.

I feel that I never abused bandwidth. I won't even update my FTE web pages now for fear it will be too much. It's just one of those things. Big corporations get rich at the expense of those who really need this service. I almost wanted to cry when I got Fapped.

It sounds like they are abusing a policy intended to prevent people from using consumer accounts for commercial access to servers.Something like an FAP should never kick in at a level where a single consumer is downloading content. They are abusing the policy as a means to keep their equipment upgrade costs down. They really need to upgrade their bandwidth capacity in order to effectively deliver the content their customers want.Fair access....what an irony that is.

I am not a vindictive person but I would love to tell HughesNet what I think of their policy. I've paid for the equipment which wasn't cheap and about $65 a month for years now.Money that's what I want. LOL!Money Money Money Money!PS: I love living in the country but since we don't even have cable close to us I have to use this service. Now when I click on a youtube video I get scared. I watch my hourly use and I haven't come close to the 200 limit in 24 hours but when I got fapped the one that put me over was 169 or so of my daily total.

I would think…
It might be time to tell HughesNet what they can do with their Fair Access Policy.I saw your post a few days ago about that. Smells kinda like, “We want more money from you, or else. Like being held hostageWhat they call fair is what most people call being ripped off.

I wish I could listen to radio and watch Youtube videos but HughesNet has put in place a FAP (fair access policy) and if you go over what they allow in a day you get shut down to barely a snails pace for a 24 hour punishment so I avoid anything that could push me over. I have only been Fapped one time and that was enough to cure me from doing anything but news. I have great speed now but I can't use it.It's like all dressed up and no where to go! LOL!

I have been following this site for almost 10 years (can you believe it??) and to compare articles today with those of that time is really remarkable. Take heart, change is slow but it is coming.
