Los Angeles -- In the fictional world of the hit show "24," federal law enforcement agencies are pouring every last resource into the search for a nuclear terrorist in Los Angeles. In the real world, federal agents apparently have so much free time that they can dress up in bulletproof vests and masks in order to raid clinics that serve patients battling cancer, AIDS and other diseases. That's what happened last week as Drug Enforcement Administration agents stormed 11 medical marijuana dispensaries throughout L.A. and West Hollywood.
We can all rest easier knowing that lollipops, cookies, candies and candy bars laced with marijuana are in no danger of reaching seriously ill patients.Recall that 56% of California voters passed the Compassionate Use Act in 1996, making it legal for patients to obtain and use medical marijuana under the care of a doctor. A 2004 Field poll showed that support for the law has grown since its passage, with 74% of Californians now in favor of allowing sick patients to use marijuana. In 2004, SB 420 clarified how much medicinal cannabis patients could grow and possess, and it allowed local governments to set additional guidelines. The West Hollywood City Council recently voted to control the number of medical marijuana dispensaries operating in the city. Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department submitted more than 40 recommendations for controlling dispensaries, seeking to ban them from being within 1,000 feet of schools and to require owners to remove all litter "visible to the public within 100 feet of the premises at least twice daily." The dispensaries also have practiced self-regulation. Yes, there have been poorly run dispensaries and others looking to circumvent the system — but the feds didn't focus on them.Instead, this raid hit one of the best-run dispensaries in West Hollywood — the Farmacy — where patients must present valid medical information verified by doctors; where purchases are limited to 1 ounce, even though the law allows patients to possess 8 ounces; where patients aren't allowed to medicate on the premises; and where anyone caught with forged documents is detained until police arrive and charged with a felony. The Farmacy has been a leader in treatment and education. Caring for patients suffering from everything from cancer to glaucoma to multiple sclerosis, it teaches patients about the effects of different strains of indica and sativa marijuana and offers edibles and concentrated medicine in the form of oil to reduce the potential harm of smoking marijuana in plant form. Can I get a little C- for at least trying! LOL! Seriously I am working on changing about everything. I am only drinking soda because it helps my stomach feel better. I'll do better soon. I know I won't go back to diet coke. I was wanting to stop for awhile. I get kidney infections more then most people and I know that sodium is bad. Food isn't much fun anymore but at least I can eat a little now.

I swear if I was there I'd slap that trash out of your hand ("lol").You can't be so addicted to soda that you're willing to risk your health for it...?! I know I'm not your doc, but I care and I'm urging you, stop with the aspartame if you want to get truly well. Even if you can't really tell symptoms, that stuff is taking you down---any amount. Like I said, it turns into methanol in your liver... it's very toxic and any amount is messing with your body's normal functioning. If you *must* have soda, why don't you get some 1) soda water, 2) fruit juice, and 3) stevia extract and make your own? Hell, you could even make yourself ginger ale with those three but fresh ginger instead of fruit juice. It's a little more hassle, yes, but isn't your health worth it?Sorry to harp on you, this is a pet issue of mine as you can tell. We all have to make smart decisions about what we consume if we want to not get weird diseases and then go "huh? where did this come from?" processed food = BADOkay I'm done for the night. I'll convert you eventually.

I meant CNN and MSNBC news. I do check out the news sites you mentioned but one thing I know is we must get national tv news coverage for issues to hit the people who don't follow news like we all do. That's why I watch Mainstream news.

I am drinking diet 7-up and diet ginger ale. The one thing I noticed is that I can get by with maybe 2 a day compared to 12 or more of diet coke so I haven't cut it out altogther. I forgot about Stevia. Do they make diet soda with anything that is safe? I don't want to drink sugared soda but I like soda. I am feeling better. I am not 100 percent yet but day by day I am able to eat a little more. It was scary not being able to eat.

Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you stopped with the diet Coke. You've cut out all artificial sweeteners right? Sucralose may not be quite as bad, but is another health-threatening substance. For that one, they react sugar with chlorine (!!) to get the result, so you are eating a chlorinated product if you use it. Those chemical pushers are evil, I tell you, they do not care if they ruin you, as long as they get a bunch of your money first.Have you tried stevia extract? It works well and is totally natural and plant-based. 100% safe. Even better is agave nectar, now that stuff tastes *great*, like mild honey and is almost 0% glycemic active. Both together works exceedingly well and tastes exactly like sugar. I used a dash of stevia extract powder and a big squirt of agave nectar to sweeten a 12-oz bottle of sour cherry juice and it worked fantastically. There is NO need for icky chemicals of any kind!!

Feeling better I hope!
If you're not, increase your water consumption, hydration is usually the cure, (not over-hydration, as you know).Todays' Democracy Now is well worth watching or listening to, here is the link:

Because of the Gulf of Tonkin incident back in Vietnam I worry that that is how bombing Iran will start. History does repeat itself. The only advantage we have now compared to Vietnam is the Internet. People are watching closely because they can now. I really am afraid about this.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Tonkin_Incident

It all depends
on how loud and how large these protests get. Don't look for us to be able to stop the attack on Iran. But DO look for us to be able to stop it, once it starts. And we must do it. Every war they present us with should be voluminously opposed by American citizens. We can't stop there. Once we stop these Wars, we will have to remove the warriors from the battle fields and turn the battle fields into fields of Hemp. Or solar energy panels. Or Wind Mills. Anything Green. No more fields of Red. No more Blood for Empire. No more War of Terror, no more Terror of War.Toke.

Here's another very scary article.Bush: 'I'm the Decision-Maker' on IraqJan, 26, 2007 (AP)— President Bush, on a collision course with Congress over Iraq, said Friday "I'm the decision-maker" about sending more troops to the war. He challenged skeptical lawmakers not to prematurely condemn his buildup. "I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed," Bush said in an Oval Office meeting with senior military advisers. The president had strong words for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who are lining up to support resolutions opposing his decision to send 21,500 troops to Iraq. He challenged them to put up their own ideas. URL: http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2826051

Great Article! Let's keep this in the news!
Of course these raids will backfire, as they should, in our favor, the last gasp of the prohibitionist dinosaur! Here's and article that the author has requested we send far and wide on the 'tubes', as CBS refuses to show this on TV, though it is deemed okay for the 'internets'!So here it is!
Which brings us to Lara Logan. One would assume that Ms. Logan, as CBS chief foreign correspondent, has a fair amount of influence as to what stories she gets to cover, and that most of her important stories, once produced and delivered, will be broadcast. But when the story comes out of the mean streets of Baghdad, and doesn’t fit the officially-sanctioned narrative of Iraqis and US soldiers working arm in arm to help protect thankful Iraqi citizens, even chief foreign correspondents sometimes need to ask for help in getting it seen. Imagine our surprise recently when–over the digital transom–we received a copy of an email from a frustrated Lara Logan (see below)In it, Logan asks for help in getting attention to what she calls “a story that is largely being ignored even though this istakingplace everysingle [sic] day in Baghdad, two blocks from where our office is located.”The segment in question–”Battle for Haifa Street”–is a piece of first-rate journalism but one that only appears on the CBS News website–and has never been broadcast. It is a gritty, realistic look at life on the very mean streets of Baghdad, and includes interviews with civilians who complain that the US military presence is only making their lives worse and the situation more deadly.
http://www.mediachannel.org/wordpress/2007/01/24/helping-lara-logan/Find yourself in Washington DC this weekend, for a huge demonstration aganist bush, his war, his next war in Iran, (it's on the table folks, and John Kerry seems convinced bush will attack Iran, any doubters?)This is our last chance to stop bush, before he gets' "Nuk-u-lar on Iran, so please consider blogging this demo into every nook and cranny of the Web, we have the power, so let's use it!
