Renee Emry Wolfe, an outspoken proponent of medicinal marijuana use, has been charged again with marijuana-related offenses. The 41-year-old Ann Arbor resident, who uses marijuana to ease the pain of multiple sclerosis, was arraigned Friday by 14th District Magistrate George Parker.Wolfe's attorney, Douglas Mullkoff, entered a not guilty plea on her behalf to one count of manufacturing and growing marijuana and one count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Both charges carry a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
The latest charges stem from allegations that Wolfe sold marijuana for $10 to a police informant in June. A warrant was issued for her arrest in February but was never served. After recently finding out about it, Wolfe came to court on Friday."We want to face this case and move on," Mullkoff told Parker, who scheduled a preliminary examination for May 24.Prior to Friday's court appearance, Wolfe said she was entrapped by police. She said the informant was the same person she appeared with last year on a Detroit television news program about using marijuana for medicinal purposes. Wolfe said she and the individual smoked marijuana on the program.Six months after the program aired, Wolfe said, the person came to her Ann Arbor home saying "he was hurting" and needed some marijuana, which Wolfe gave him. Wolfe said he asked "how much do you want for it?" After she told him she would not take money, Wolfe said, he left $10 on the floor. The next day, narcotics officers came to her home with a search warrant and took away a number of marijuana plants, she said.According to a Michigan State Police laboratory report, 27 plants and additional plant material were identified as marijuana.Appearing in court on drug charges is nothing new to Wolfe, having been convicted in Washtenaw County in 1995 on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges, and in 1996 on two felony charges of marijuana delivery. She received no jail time in either case.Last year, Wolfe was convicted in U.S. Superior Court in Washington, D.C., on a misdemeanor charge of possessing marijuana. The charge stemmed from Wolfe lighting a marijuana cigarette in the Washington, D.C., office of U.S. Rep. William McCollum, R-Fla, in September 1998.Note: Woman faces manufacturing, intent-to-deliver charges. Thank You New Mexican
I guess why I thought about posting why I post what I do is I feel really bad when someone sends me an article and I don't post it. This web site isn't just a news web site but an interactive news web site. I really try to keep it on track as much as possible and I think of how an article might effect a regular here and I try to use discretion. That's why this is hard to do and I have been learning from my mistakes and I will keep on learning because I will surely make more.Thank You, FoM!

Just a Note about News
Hi Everyone, The news is slow even though I could post many articles but I thought I'd mention why I don't post some articles.I ask myself certain questions with each article I think about posting and if it doesn't meet what I think is what we need here on Cannabis News I just pass and this is why.We will soon have 10,000 news articles archived and it has taken me this long to figure these things out.If a persons name is mentioned in a bust I will pass unless I know the person in the article wants it posted like the Kubby case or any medical marijuana case. Also busts in general only tend to anger the people who do a search and find their name in an article that I've posted. Most people don't want to see their name on the Net. They are ashamed, hurt and many times their lives have been destroyed by the war on drugs.Does the news help us to learn or just make us angry?Anger without direction doesn't do anyone any good I think. If a minor is mentioned in an article I usually pass too. I don't want to hurt anyone with what I am doing here.I try not to duplicate articles because if we read it once that is usually enough and we can comment on that thread.Does an article bring reproach? I think hard about articles in that respect. Is it promoting illegal activites? I usually pass because it isn't legal yet.I do post negative articles for debating and learning.I might have missed other reasons but I thought I'd share with you why I do certain news and pass on others.I don't have any absolutes and I have posted articles that maybe I think I shouldn't have but that's how I'm learning.I don't post too many articles on hard drugs because our focus here is Cannabis but drug war news is always important.I hope everyone has a nice and safe weekend too!

the message
Cases like this are the ones that really send a message, and exposethe war pigs to public scrutiny. It may be looked upon as some sort of sleazy tactic by the anti cult, who have repeatedly suggested that medical Marijuana is nothingmore than a trojan horse for people who want to be free to use theherb.Even if this were true,So What! I dont have any problem withturning up the heat by drawing attention to suffering people who aresimply trying to self medicate with an herb from God.In fact I thinkwe should do more of it.I dont think it's a deceptive tactic becauseeven if you just want to use Marijuana to relax your nerves,or havesome fun,it's still a matter of the right to use a harmless, totally natural, organic herb.I had to see my Mom waste away with cancer several years ago.Shewent through the classic thing of chemo-therapy,not being able toeat or hold food down. She basicly died of starvation.I tried to get herto use some Marijuana, but she refused because it was illegal.Theytried giving her Marinol about a week before she died.Anyway,I say,Yes,there is nothing wrong with drawing attentionto suffering people,in order to further the cause of drug policy reform. If it is portrayed by antis,as using sick people to get Marijuana legalized,Big deal! Just look at all the deceptive shams the antis use to keep itillegal.
