Two people robbed a medicinal marijuana store in the Richmond district of about $8,000 in cash and roughly $12,000 worth of pot, police said Friday. ``They stole their weed and their money,'' officer Larry Murdock said. ``One went in, and the other one drove.'' The heist happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hemp Center on Balboa Street. While two employees were in a back room, one robber entered the store and jumped over the glass counter, breaking it.
He surprised the workers, pointed a nickel-plated revolver at them and ordered them to fill a black duffel bag with money and then empty the display case of its marijuana.He ordered them to the floor, then fled, hopping into the getaway car.It's the first time the Balboa Street store has been robbed, said Sash, one of the two employees who were there. Sash, who declined to give his last name, said the Divisadero medicinal marijuana outlet has been robbed three times.``Right now, we have enough to get by,'' he said of the store's supplies. ``And hopefully, in about two weeks to a month, we'll be back on our feet.''Police said they had no suspects.Note: Some potheads just got a dream score.Source: San Jose Mercury News (CA) Published: Saturday April 14, 2001Copyright: 2001 San Jose Mercury News Contact: letters sjmercury.com Website: http://www.sjmercury.com/Related Article:Gunman Robs Pot Club In Richmond District Source: San Francisco ChroniclePublished: Saturday, April 14, 2001 Copyright: 2001 San Francisco Chronicle A gunman held up a Richmond District pot club, escaping with $8,000 cash and $12,000 worth of marijuana from display cases, police and the club's proprietor reported yesterday. The robbery occurred Thursday night after the Hemp Center in the 2500 block of Balboa Street had one of the busiest days in its two years there, said proprietor Kathleen Lemons. Now, the club is considering installing security door to help screen those coming in. "I hate the idea of having to lock everybody out," Lemons said. No one was injured in the 7 p.m. robbery. The gunman, whose face was partially concealed by a scarf, jumped the counter and stuffed a duffel bag with the cash from a register and safe and the marijuana, she said. He threated to shoot employees if they got up, she added. CannabisNews Medical Marijuana Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/medical.shtml

You are so right
I agree. There will be no real focus of the relief stolen from seriously ill people; the story will be sensationalized because it had to do with pot distribution. These bastards should be apprehended for stealing from patents. Police corruption, draconian laws and unfortunately police work has become a second case job. Because the police spend the majority of their time chasing drugs, real crime isn’t being perused. My experience has been that the police department has been infiltrated by control freak SWAT want-a-be’s. Like many Americans I have become disillusioned and mistrusting of our law enforcement.

I add, Imprint,
 that if Cannabis/Hemp were Legalized, then Law Enforcement Officials would have to "Get back to their Real Jobs."  Which isn't so Enticing when you have such Draconian Forfeiture and Seizure Laws to Encourage your Salary...Constitutionally? Well, that's a whole new Realm. This is the main reason that Marijuana users NEED to be placed above the law. To get the Police Department and Its' officers to "Get Back To Fighting Real Crime!!!" And solve some of these "Unsolved Mysteries" in this Country. To put some Real-Deal KILLERS behind bars and restrained in Shackles {which they were intended for- not so Black people could have a harder time resisting- as FOX's COPS would like to have you thinking, I bet.}

Why don't they just Enter the Police Academy?
 If all these people want to do is Raid some Suffering Patients' Stash?? I hear there are LOADS of Cops making a living off of Plights that sound a LITTLE TOO SIMILAR to that of these Burgalars? Wake Up, jAHn, They probably WERE "official cops" {If there ever was such a thing}!

Bastards
This is the sort of thing the antis are going to jump all over and claim that's the reason (the new one)dispensaries can't be permitted. But if you check your news regularly you'll see that Confisated pot has been stolen twice in the last year from police custody; both times it was for considerable amounts.Hopefully this is just an anecdote.the guys who raided the club are bastards. Worst sort of scum , and I hope they're caught. Rob sick people will ya? I thought that was reserved for the government.

Marijuana is worth a lot!
As long as marijuana is illegal there will be a back-market for it and as long as there is a black-market the value of marijuana will be high (no pun intended). And as long as the value is high crime will follow it. You sure don’t see liquor stores robbed for the liquor. To me this is just more evidence that the prohibition is wrong.
