Saying he thinks raising 15,000 signatures on a petition to force a recall election of Placer County District Attorney Brad Fenocchio is "do-able," medicinal marijuana advocate Steve Kubby joined three other people Wednesday in taking a first step to put the question before voters.Kubby – whose trial on pot-for-sale charges ended with a mistrial earlier this year – was joined at the Placer County Finance Administration Center by Roseville's Lyman "Sandy" Sanborn, Sanborn's wife, Grace, and Edie Lerman, legal coordinator for the American Medical Marijuana Association.
Sanborn is suing the county in federal court over a 1999 raid that netted no pot and no charges.Recall proponents begin the process by serving the district attorney with their notice of intention to circulate the petition. They must also file the notice with the county Elections Division and publish or post the notice. The group walked to the District Attorney's Office to hand the notice of intention to Fenocchio but learned that he was in Napa. Fenocchio is part of the prosecution team in the trial of accused quadruple murderer Arturo Suarez. They asked to hand it to a representative of the district attorney but were told that no one in the office would accept the notice.State recall procedures also allow proponents of an ouster to serve the targeted official by certified mail. Help finding stats re: alcohol vs illegal drugs?
I'm engaged in a debate with some people about the harm caused by alcohol vs illegal drugs. Can anyone provide any specific links/stats that quantify the death rates and other collateral harm caused by alcohol vs illegal drugs? I know I've read this several places, but I can't seem to find it when I need it. You guys are the best!

News Brief From The Associated Press
Kubby Joins Recall Campaign Against DASource: Associated PressPublished: Friday, April 6, 2001 Copyright: 2001 Associated PressAUBURN -- A former gubernatorial candidate is participating in a recall campaign against Placer County District Attorney Brad Fenocchio.Steve Kubby and three other advocates of medical marijuana tried to deliver a notice of intention to recall Fenocchio Wednesday, but the county's top prosecutor at his office.About 15,000 signatures are needed on a petition to recall Fenocchio, a challenge Kubby said is "do-able."Kubby was prosecuted last year with his wife for growing marijuana with intent to sell. The trial on those charges ended in a mistrial, but Kubby was found guilty of having a small amount of peyote.Kubby ran for governor in 1998 on the Libertarian ticket.Several lawsuits on similar medical marijuana arrests have been filed against the county. One of the recall participants, Lyman Sanborn, is suing the county in federal court over a 1999 raid. During that search police found no pot and no charges were filed.

Cable
Yea FoM,,I used to have a cable modem hookup a few years ago, andit was dazzlingly fast. The modem cost about 450 bucks, and it was 40dollars a month to be hooked up.....Those were the days of prosperity.I think I spent so much time on-line,and I had 500 channels with digitalcable, that I was tending to neglect other parts of life.I just have anormal 56K dial-up connection now.I figure there's plenty of good stuffto read on-line,and I just have a normal antennae TV now....Life can becomeall too easily cluttered nowdays with all this stuff...Too much input cantend to make for diminished output.LoL.......................................dddd

Hi dddd,I wish I knew if Direct Satellite hook ups are easy to use. My niece just got hook up to her cable network and she said it is very fast. I can barely move around sometimes. We don't have cable way out here in no mans land. Thank goodness for satellite tv or we would only get 2 channels. That's really bad.Peace, FoM!

Audio and Video Problems
Thanks Dan, I can't use video and audio without major computer problems. I have never had good luck with features like that but I don't know why. It could be my slow isp. Nine times out of ten it crashed my computer or I would.

Richard Cowan has some excellent commentary regarding the "Cannabis and Psychosis Project" mentioned by observer. You can find it at POT-TV, as well (see the link in my comment below).Dan B

re: Just a Note
Here's a short but developing reefer-madness "story" that I think is interesting. Apparently there's this "Cannabis and Psychosis Project" that (surprise) is cannabis causes psychosis. (Though they are careful to not use the word "causes", they just insinuate it, instead.) I'm sure we'll here more from this (propaganda) "conference" mentioned.DRUG LINK TO PSYCHOSIS (Apr 4, 2001)http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v01/n590/a05.html

Just a Note
Hi Everyone, I am looking for good news articles and just can't find any more right now. I'll keep looking but the news is a bit slow. Thought I'd let everyone know I'm trying.

Go get 'im!
Steve Kubby and the rest are truly great Americans. I admire their tenacity. If you did not already know, the Kubby's have a regular show now on POT-TV, and the latest installment is an interview of the couple by Renee Boje, conducted not long after Kubby's trial ended in amistrial (jurors voted 11-1 in favor of Kubby, for those who did not already know). I'll provide a link to POT-TV below. You'll need to get RealAudio (downloadable for free at the POT-TV website) to view it.Dan B
