Protestors claiming victory, but police just ignore them Tim Felger lights up a joint on Sunday afternoon, but, unlike in Abbotsford, he was not arrested for smoking marijuana.
A protest held in the Chilliwack RCMP parking lot Sunday afternoon was the first of its kind in Canada and sends a strong federal message, says a proponent of medical cannabis. "We challenged the Queen's own guard," says Brian Carlisle, "and they backed down." There have been other "smoke-ins," added Mr. Carlisle, but the others have all been in jurisdictions sentried by municipal police departments. "This is the first one to be held on RCMP property, and we won." But RCMP Sergeant Brent Bluxham says the rally was really a poorly attended, non-event and that members inside the building pretty much ignored the small group who plugged a portable stereo into an outdoor outlet, cranked the tunes, and reportedly lit a "big doobie." "Bob Marley? I don't know who it was they were listening to out there, we just stayed in the building. And I don't know about anyone smoking a doobie either, but as far as we are concerned there was no offence committed." Mr. Carlisle says the reason for the small numbers was "fear." "A lot of people drove by and honked in support, but because it was right on RCMP property they were too afraid to stop and join us." The entire event was videotaped by two camera people, but Sergeant Bluxham says the video will not be used as criminal evidence. "It's a standard aid at most events now. It not only protects the protestors, it protects us against false accusations." He added that while the purpose of the rally was supposedly to tout marijuana as a medical cure-all, none of the protest signs were indicative of that. "They said things like 'Legalize pot now.' That has nothing to do with medicine." After the demonstration the group went into the building and requested (unsuccessfully) the return of some marijuana joints that had recently been confiscated from a "non-charged victim" who says she suffers from multiple sclerosis. "The officer we dealt with knew we were sanctified and righteous and that's why he walked away from the counter when we tried to explain to him why it was illegal for them to keep her marijuana," says Mr. Carlisle. "We aren't going to wait around while our sick brothers and sisters are suffering. We have property designated on Bradner Road and Duncan Road (in Abbotsford) and on Bailey Road in Chilliwack, and we have farmers ready to start growing marijuana. The time is now." everyone please read
Everyone wanting marijuana ligalized I'm with you all.I have been suffering from 3 bleeding peptic ulcers for just over a year now,and I have been smoking marijuana for about 8 months now after a friend told me it would be good for me, and he was right. Most of the pain is gone, and I was also worried about my weight I was as low as 95 pounds when I should be at 145-150 pounds.I have been doing some studying on marijuana and I read this on the net "Cannabis could replace the highly toxic Probathine compounds currently used by dentists to reduce Saliva. This may also indicate that cannabis could be good for treating peptic ulcers".Police are supose to protect us from harm not make our lives worse.I mean if it wasn't for marijuana I don't think I would still be on this earth.I was just losing weight so fast. Why doesn't the government just do the right thing I mean they know the majority of the population use marijuana so just legalize it and quit spending our tax money on busting marijuana,Why don't you use that money to bust herrion and drugs like that,Herrion kills marijuan doesn't.Canada is so far in dept why don't we legalize it and start spending some of that tax money on paying back our loan.If you guys could all reply to this I will try and reply to everyones.
p.s. Tim Fleger keep up the good work and we are all behind you on this.
