The federal government has chosen a Saskatoon company to provide Canada with a legal supply of marijuana for medical and research purposes. Prairie Plant Systems won a $5.75-million, five-year contract to supply marijuana, the Health Department announced Thursday. The contract requires that standardized, quality marijuana be available within a year.
"A Canadian source of research-grade marijuana is essential to move forward on our research plan," Health Minister Allan Rock said in a statement. Under terms of the contract, Prairie Plant Systems will set up operations at Flin Flon, Man. Some work will also be done at the company's head office in Saskatoon. In June 1999, the Health Department set up a process whereby people wishing to use marijuana for medical reasons could apply for an exemption to the federal ban on its use. To date, about 140 people have received exemptions. Last week, an Alberta judge ruled that the federal law banning cultivation of marijuana is unconstitutional because it doesn't allow for the medical use of the drug. Justice Darlene Acton said the granting of exemptions without a legal supply is an "absurdity." medical care
With the way they are taking away benefits and denying benefits for disabled people, like people with livercancer and cerebral palsy and other problems. I thinkthe government wants to purge the country of the weak. Theycouldn't care less about us.

Affordable Medical Care
Not in this country. Why is our goverment not commitied to afforadable medical care. This policy is it an attempt to force the sick to illiegal cultivate marijuana. So the sick can have affordable drugs. Or it is a attempt destroy aforadable medical care in our country.

JOBS
I think all growers should send job aplications to the company, If these folks are like most new growers it will take them some time to work out all of the kinks, that means a good grower could help them out alot. I also have to thank canada they have managed to do something about the med. use of pot, if it is legal to use but illegal to sell where are you going to get the medicine. peace mota20

Watch out, US Pigs!
This going to be hell for boarder patrol. . . now that MMJ is available in Canada, more folks are going to be getting those federal exemptions. Just watch. . .With more folks buying and smoking legally, watch for the upper US states to start sliding into a MMJ mood, too. Never thought I'd say this, but God Bless Canada, too! =)
