Medical marijuana can be legally used beginning Dec. 28, state officials announced today.Gov. Ben Cayetano approved administrative rules regarding the use of medical marijuana yesterday. Patients who want to use marijuana to treat or alleviate pain must get an annual written certificate approved by their physician in order to legally use the drug.
State Public Safety director Ted Sakai said the department will make application forms for patient certificates available to physicians beginning today.Cayetano signed the medical marijuana law in June. The state held a November public hearing to come up with rules dealing with the medical use of marijuana. The provisions include a: Yearly $25 fee by patients for the written certificate issued by the physician, who must be licensed to practice in Hawaii and authorized to handle controlled substances. Requirement that the marijuana user or a caregiver be allowed to raise only seven marijuana plants for medical use. The law will not allow people to raise marijuana in abundance to operate as a distribution business for medical patients. Requirement that physicians notify the state if they determine that a patient’s condition no longer warrants the medical use of marijuana.Sakai said the rules do not require physicians to ensure the patient does not exceed the amount of marijuana allowed by law. “It is the patient’s responsibility, not the physician’s, to comply with this provision of the law,” Sakai said.Physicians who are interested in obtaining these forms, or who have questions regarding the certification process, can call the state Narcotics Enforcement Division at 594-0150.Source: Honolulu Advertiser (HI)Published: December 19, 2000Author: Scott Ishikawa, Advertiser Capitol BureauCopyright: 2000 The Honolulu Advertiser, a division of Gannett Co. No weed until the 28th, mister!
So if you have any of your so-called "nausea" on Christmas, well then you'd better just tough it out three more days. P.S. Once it's the 28th you are allowed to smoke weed, but you can't buy it from anyone. You have to grow it yourself. But of course it's not legal to buy seeds. So your 7 legal plants will have to spring fully-formed from the head of Zeus. P.P.S. If the 7 plants you are allowed to grow should happen to die, you're certainly not going to get any help from us. So you'd better hope you've got a green thumb if you want to "survive." P.P.P.S. See how liberal and foreward thinking we are? Aren't we just great? Yeah, we are.

law enforcement
FoM,,,I started thinking about your question, and I think that it will be a very akward time for those in law enforcment. It will become simply a matter of if they want to bust you,or not. Hopefully, enforcement will be so problematic, that it will further expose the prohibitionists, and their evil agenda. I think the harmlessness of marijuana is known to alot more people nowdays. If Hawaii can do it,then everyone else can too.Peace......................................dddd

Question
If a person can have a total of 7 plants and three ounces how's that going to work? What if your 3 allowed flowering plants just happen to be producers of a good amount of Cannabis and those 3 flower plants produces enough to put a person over the limit. I'm sure they won't be able to sell the surplus so almost everyone will go over the limit if what I'm typing makes any sense.Right? How will they determine what's is mature or not? Are they going to have bud inspectors?

Simple
Hopefully the idiots in California will see how simple it is to comply with the will of the voters. They've been draggin' their feet for years, claiming it's too confusing for law enforcement.
