The 40-year-old son of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar was arrested on marijuana possession charges after being pulled over for expired license plates. Robert Lugar, manager of the town of McCordsville, pleaded innocent Thursday and posted $200 bail.
A sheriff's deputy was giving Lugar a ticket Wednesday when he noticed the smell of marijuana, Sheriff Nick Gulling said. The deputy found a plastic bag filled with pot under a floor mat of the Jeep, Gulling said. "He denied the marijuana was his," the sheriff said. Lugar did immediately return a message left for him at the McCordsville town hall. His home number is unpublished. A spokesman for his father did not immediately return a call. The senator is seeking a fifth term in November. Greenfield, Ind. That MN senator
KapI heard that senator from MN make a statement about the blowdown in the Boundary waters that points to his lack of intelligence. We had a really strong wind (straight line winds) come through the Boundary waters canoe area last year. Many many acres of tress quitte literally were blown down. The devestation to the wilderness area was quite large but very natural (except for man's probable cause of the storm).Well Mr. Grams indicated that the reason all those trees fell down was because they were 80 plus years old. And since we have a lot of old trees in the BWCA we should make sure they are logged out because they are a danger to all of us.Mr. Grams denies the son's special treatment, an officer looses his job and hopefully the state of MN will not vote this door knob back into the senate. He is an indication of why our congress is so messed up.The trees are old so we need to get rid of them.CheersRainbow

2 get out of jail free cards...
This guy has 2 things going for him...he is a politico's son AND a town manager. He'll probably shed some tears for setting such a bad example for the CHILDREN, then say he is going to get help and we will never hear of it again. Good thing he is already out of college - they might have taken his loans away! Oh yeah, he probably didn't need any. ;)

The Truth Hits Home
Thanks Kaptinemo, it shows what false BS this drug war really is. If people would like to write the news media I'd like to suggest using www.mapinc.org, it's really good and there's some very helpful people there.

Oh, boy, here we go again
Let's see now; There was Senator Shelby's son, arrested after arriving from England with hashish in his pockets. He got off with just community service. Shelby is one of the staunchest, lock them up and throw away the key prohibitionists. Excepting, of course, when it's his son that's the guilty party. Then there was another Senator's son, who was riding around in a 'appropriated' (Ssshhhh! Can't it was 'stolen') rental car with 10 trash bags full of grass. His buddy gets arrested and carted off to jail... while the arresting officer provided the Senators' son a ride back to Daddy's house. Again, the Senator in question was and is a staunch believer in the DrugWar and in it's punishments... except when it comes to his kid.And now Lugar's boy is in trouble. Any one care to lay odds that he'll get off with a slap on the wrist? While in the same day, over a thousand poor, less well-connected kids will get the book thrown at them, wind up in prison, and have their lives ruined... for the same 'offense'?The antis have given us all the ammunition we need. Write your newspapers about the disparities of treatment meted out to cannabis consumers when they are not as 'favored' as these 'children of power' are. And ask them one question: if the rulemakers cannot live by their own laws and accept the punishments they so happily visit upon others, then is it time to find some pols who will live within the law - instead of above it?
