Peter McWilliams had been using medical marijuana with a doctors recommendation to cope with his illness since it became legal under california law to do so. He advanced money to author Todd McCormick for a book on scientific research regarding specific strains of cannabis and their ability to relieve certain ailments. Fearing the judgement of a jury the sheriffs dept settled with heirs of the malibu ranch estate for the sum of five million dollars. Although Peter was not at the lab or directly involved with the legal cannabis research he now faces the possibility of many years in prison.Peter is very ill as a result of being deprived his legal clinical cannabis by order of the court and may perish behind bars before his debt to society is paid in full.
