Three Celina men have been charged in what Clay County Sheriff Jerry Rhoton is calling the county's largest-ever marijuana plant seizure.Based on a street value of approximately $1,000 per plant, the marijuana seized Tuesday was potentially worth more than $4.4 million.
Clay Boles, 37, Donnie Crabtree, 42, and Chase Emberton, 18, were arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of marijuana over 5 ounces for resale and cultivation of a Schedule VI narcotic. An investigation turned up more than 4,400 marijuana plants being grown for transplanting, Rhoton said. All three men were released from the Clay County Jail after posting $150,000 bonds. The seizure and arrests were the culmination of a joint investigation involving Tennessee Bureau of Investigation narcotics officers, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Officer Bill Moulton and Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Burnette, who had staked out since early Tuesday the area where the marijuana plants were being grown. The plants, being grown at a trailer park on Highway 53 two miles south of Celina, were hidden among tobacco plants that were being grown to be transplanted, Burnette, Clay County's chief drug enforcement officer, said yesterday. The three men arrested were observed among the marijuana plants "all morning,"Burnette said.At around midday, one of the men loaded two trays, each of which, it was later determined, contained 242 plants, into a late-model Buick Century and began to leave. Burnette, who had left to obtain arrest warrants, said the officers on the scene then moved in and took all three men into custody. In addition to the marijuana plants, which ranged in height from 1 to 5 inches, the Buick Century and two four-wheelers were seized, Burnette said. The investigation has since spawned additional searches by Clay County sheriff's deputies, but Burnette declined to comment as to whether they had been successful."The investigation is definitely not over because we know that there's more plants out there, and we know that there's more to it than just these guys planting in some seedbeds." pot
At the estimated worth of these plants, 1000 a plant, cops don't need to worry about this batch of pot, it would be too expensive for anyone to buy!

Plants
Not only are the estimates off by a mile but the biggest plants were only 5 inches tall!!!No one can't predict how any plant will fair in it's life cycle at that stage. This ranks right up there with the bust where they estimated the plants to bring $2-5,000 per oz.!!It's a joke where nobody is laughing.

$1000 per plant?
I love it how law enforcement inflates the street value in order to impress newsmen, and to provide prosecutors with more ammo in court. That must have been a hell of a plant!! I am SURE that they were counting only the weight of smokable buds, and not the entire plant (Stem, twigs, ROOTS).

Clarification
Cultivation of a Schedule VI narcotic? There are only 5 (V) schedules and marijuana is in Schedule I-an extreme dependence liability with a potential for abuse that outwieghts its medical value, yadda yadda yadda.

Record Clarificarion, re. 'largest seizure'
This was not only the largest pot seizure ever in Clay County but enough cash and food stamps were seized to buy the entire task force coffee and doughnuts. The standing record for marijuana seized in a trailer park is the long standing Cozy Court bust that netted over 40,000seeds which if fully grown would have caused the State of Utah to sink 3" under the weight of the plants.
