Whatever happened?
What ever happened to the Honolulu firefighter and his wife caught selling drugs in Wahiawa? I don't hear about the case anymore. I heard he's free and retired.
Retired firefighter Conrad Buenconsejo was arrested in a drug raid on his Wahiawa home in July 1996.He is now going through a Drug Court program for first-time offenders. It involves about two years of drug treatment. If he graduates, his charges of drug possession will be dropped, said Tom Koenig, deputy prosecuting attorney."They admit to their offenses and then go through treatment. The idea is for them to recover permanently so they won't be tempted by drugs again," Koenig said. "If they don't graduate, they are found guilty and usually do prison time."Buenconsejo retired from the department Nov. 29, 1996, according to firefighter Lester Hashimoto, in community relations.Police seized cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia at his home following an undercover investigation that occurred over several months.Officers also recovered a .22-caliber Derringer with its serial number defaced and more than $700 in food stamps. Stereo equipment, cameras and jewelry were seized and are suspected to have been exchanged for drugs, said Maj. Kenneth Tano, now retired.Buenconsejo, a 24-year veteran of the Fire Department, had been on sick leave since March 1996 before retiring after his arrest.
