Should Marijuana Be Legalized For Medical Purposes

It’s a pending decision that has some people in debate. The state of Nevada is preparing to take up the question as to whether marijuana should be legalized for medical reasons. Monday night students debated the issue at UNR.
     A proposed law would allow people with specific medical conditions to use marijuana without fear of prosecution. Monday night’s crowd was split on whether or not the law was a good idea.   Supporters say exceptions need to be made but opponents worry that the law could be hard to enforce.   Roger Holmes, Deputy District Attorney, states, “When someone ends up with marijuana in front of you as a police officer how do you deal with it? The way this is written the officer is up against a dead end.” Voters overwhelmingly approved the medical marijuana bill in the last election; however, it must pass twice before it can become law. Fraud.
