Medicinal Marijuana Talks Went Very Well

Health Canada's first consultation on therapeutic marijuana use produced a lot of smoke yesterday, but organizers still left the meeting happy. "It went very well. It was a very healthy exchange of views on the use of medicinal marijuana," said Dann Michols, the director general of Health Canada's Therapeutic Products Program.
About 50 consultation participants from across the country came to discuss their concerns about educating Canada's physicians and public about medicinal marijuana use. Some participants wanted to be granted medical exemptions from prosecution for marijuana use, others wanted permission to grow and distribute marijuana to those who need it for its pain-killing and stomach-calming effects. They were joined by law enforcement officials, physicians and nurses wanting to discuss the administration of medicinal marijuana and the rights of exempted users with Health Canada representatives. To accommodate medicinal marijuana users, the Rotary Room in the Travelodge Hotel on Carling Avenue was set aside for them to light up whenever necessary. Health Canada organizers didn't feel obligated to check whether marijuana users in the room had medical exemptions allowing them to use marijuana. Medicinal marijuana users kept their smoke inside the Rotary Room and didn't upset other guests. Organizers plan to continue the consultation process with physicians, but have no plans to organize another multiparty consultation in the near future. good friends
i have many decent GOOD HONEST friends that stimulate my interests and share moments of MY LIFE to the full. i must say i enjoy this life thing, ive been locked up by old people, kicked in by young ones but i will always enjoy MY LIFE, i love more than i hate, infact i ignore things i hate so i therefore never get to really see those things. ive smoked hash ( one of my non-human friends ) for almost twenty years in that time ive educated myself to degree level in electronic design ( which was amazing because i ignored most of it ), run my own buisness as an electrician, had two beautiful children ( well my girl did that bit after i did my bit )and sponged a £500,000 five album deal from phil collins's publishing company in 1995 ( for writing songs ofcoarse ). in other words i love my life and life in general i dont eat living things (dead or alive ) and feel i give and show more compasion than lots of humans ive met in my time. i never hurt people if i can help it but i have helped people for nothing. i will always smoke my hash they had better make it punishable by death if they would like me to stop ( whoever they are ).failing that pop round for a coffee anytime, i like meeting new people.

I'll bet McCaffrey is sh*****g a brick right now!
Because a civilized meeting of the minds really hurts his cause. MJ is associated in the minds of the antis with the 60's, protests, and anti-government expressions. Here in the US, the policymakers depend upon that jaundiced (but apparently popular) public perception as a means of devaluing the MMJ initiative as really being run by aging hippies hiding behind sick people to get MMJ initiatives passed. By having this meeting, it lends the issue the respectibility it needs to gain support among the undecided. Even if it does not not result in any immediate decisions, even if it does not achieve *anything* concrete right away; it has done something very important. It has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that this issue can be handled in a very civilized and sane manner, shorn of the hysteria that US pols have heaped upon it for decades. This was a very big step. Let's hope to see another.Because actions like this torpedo and send to the bottom a lot of myths that the antis rely upon to maintain this circus. And they are always hoping we'll give them the ammunition they need to maintain their policies. By maintaining a sense of decorum, we are proving them wrong... and making it hard for them to stigmatize us. Good show, Canucks!
