cannabisnews.com: Man Believes Deputies' Flights Are Harrassment Man Believes Deputies' Flights Are Harrassment Posted by FoM on February 26, 2000 at 17:54:18 PT By Associated Press Source: Naples Daily News A man who unsuccessfully used a medical defense in his marijuana trial believes deputies are harassing him with frequent low-altitude helicopter flights over his house. The Levy County Sheriff's Office says it has a flight pattern that just happens to cross the man's six-acre property. Helicopters flew the route several times Friday, to find a lost boy, thwart a high school rumble and search for dognapping suspects. Despite this explanation, Joseph Tacl, 47, and his 22-year-old son, Michael, object to the flights, which they say come more than twice a day, sometimes. The Tacls were convicted of growing and possessing marijuana in July. The elder Tacl failed to convince a jury that his prescription for marijuana should have exempted him from prosecution. Michael Tacl's defense was that he was his father's caretaker and should not have been prosecuted. Both Tacls received probation and are trying to move to California. California is one of five states that have laws protecting medical marijuana users against state prosecution. The others are Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. A federal appeals court is now reconsidering the laws in those states. BronsonPublished: Sunday, February 27, 2000Copyright © 2000 Naples Daily News.
