Observant Greyhound Bus station employees alerted police to two suspects allegedly transporting more than 70 pounds of marijuana to Salt Lake City in January.
A Greyhound employee was cleaning the bus on Jan. 2 when he discovered a bag containing a large amount of marijuana, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court Monday. Another employee told police he saw the two suspects removing two bags from the bus and placing them in a locker at the station. Police were notified.One of the suspects allegedly told police during questioning the bags were hers and that it was her "first time doing this," the charges state. When police opened the bags, they found 34 bricks of marijuana weighing in at over 73 pounds.The suspects, both 23 and from Salt Lake City, are charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance or counterfeit substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony.
