A man who called police to report an armed home invasion ended up in jail on marijuana charges after apparently failing to read the entire instruction sheet for home growers. "When you buy a hydroponics kit, they give you instructions with them," said Lt. Robert Hoss of the Suffolk County Police Department. "On the last page, it says you shouldn't call police for routine matters. I don't think he read that."
Suffolk County officers arrested Christopher J. Streames, 30, after they arrived at his home Saturday to investigate his claim that two armed men had pushed their way in. Streames told police that two masked men knocked on his door late Saturday afternoon and pushed their way in, demanding cash. Streames struggled with the intruders but fled after being overpowered, leaving his housekeeper and her 2-year-old son behind in the house. Streames later returned and called the police. Several Dozen Marijuana Plants: Police arrived and began searching for evidence the gunmen might have left behind, Hoss said. In a basement room, they discovered several dozen pots of what appeared to be marijuana growing in water and sitting under sunlamps. Streames was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. He was arraigned Sunday and then released on his own recognizance. Streames told police no money was taken, but Hoss said police are investigating any links between the burglary and the alleged drug business. Hoss said the police still were looking for the two gunmen. "It's not unusual with people who are running a drug operation or who are selling drugs in their house that other people break into their house to take advantage of the situation," Hoss said. Streames' home telephone has been disconnected and he was unavailable for comment. Published: January 24, 2000EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (APBnews.com) Hans H. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy
I once had a friend who was a supplier. A really nice guy, but after speaking to him for a short length of time, you would realize his head seemed to exist in another Universe. Too many acid trips. And he forgot he was living in DEAland (to use a phrase from Richard Cowan) and kept all kinds of incriminating records. He was ratted on by a snitch with a wire, arrested, and all his 'customers' suffered for it.Including yours truly.Friends, I've noticed that most of the cannabis users I've met are genuinely nice people, good neighbors, decent and hardworking. But we can never afford to forget we live in a fascist system - use your head. Or you'll wind up like the guy in the article.
