Federal prosecutors pressed new charges against a northern Michigan man accused of growing more than 10,000 marijuana plants on a farm northwest of Traverse City.Bradley Shugart of Leelanau County pleaded not guilty Monday, but his attorney said a plea agreement is in the works. The case could be wrapped up before trial, scheduled for next month.
"This was one of the largest grow cases in Michigan this past year and the largest in this district in recent memory," Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Lennon said after an arraignment in federal court in Grand Rapids. The fresh indictment charges Shugart with conspiracy and possession of a firearm during drug trafficking. That's in addition to earlier charges of marijuana manufacturing and possession with intent to distribute pot.The maximum penalty is life in prison, although there are several factors that determine the actual sentence, including an admission of guilt, the amount of marijuana and any cooperation that a defendant gives to authorities.Under federal sentencing guidelines, a pot plant is considered to have at least 100 grams, or 3.5 ounces, of marijuana. The plants authorities linked to Shugart therefore would add up to more than a ton of marijuana. The charge suggests the government could be investigating people linked to Shugart, 47.The government wants to get property that it claims was acquired through Shugart's drug sales or was used to carry out the crimes. The property includes 2.5 acres in Leelanau County's Bingham Township, cash, silver bars, silver coins and 17 firearms, according to the indictment.Published: January 11, 2000Copyright 1999 Michigan Live Inc.Related Article:Farmer Accused of Running Marijuana Operation - 10/02/99http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread3110.shtml

I was going to see if i could find out what choices he's got and what he's looking at as far as time wise. This is his first offence and he turned him self in, so it's not like he ran or anything. If you could PLEASE HELP ME I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, hope to be hearing from you.

My prayers
Only the Brave succede, only the supid plea guilty, my prayers and thoughts on jury nullification for Mr. Shugert. If you believe GOD gave us pot, to grow and use, the jury must rule the law is wrong, not your actions. Please, if you are still a free man, run for office. With the notarity of this case, and the about-to-be-released petition, you can help change Michigan, and get a job instead of going to jail. Call it "Community Service"This ammendment will stop the seizure by 2001. It may even hold up judgement until the ammendment is voted on.
