Democratic presidential candidate Bill Bradley said Monday he is currently opposed to legalizing marijuana for medical use, but he did not rule out the possibility after further study.
In an evening town-hall-style forum on New Hampshire's WNDS-TV, an audience member named Dave beseechingly asked the former New Jersey senator to tap his ''good will'' for the American people and support marijuana use by cancer patients who ''just want to get some sleep and keep a meal down.'' Bradley, who has admitted to ''a few puffs'' of marijuana in the early 1970s, when he was playing professional basketball, replied: ''I don't support medical marijuana now. I think it's something we have to study more before we decide to do it.'' Later in the hourlong broadcast, Derry resident Larry Epstein pointed Bradley to research on the World Wide Web favorable to medical marijuana. ''I'd like you to go to any Internet search engine and check this out,'' Epstein said. Bradley promised he would. The Clinton-Gore administration has vigorously opposed marijuana initiatives on state ballots, saying they would prejudge clinical research to determine the safety of marijuana use by AIDS patients. Earlier this year, the Institute of Medicine, an arm of the National Academy of Sciences, urged further scientific research. The institute also favored compassionate permits for use of the drug by patients who were not helped by other medications. The Justice Department is challenging voter-approved laws in Alaska, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington. Maine voters approved a medical marijuana law earlier this month. medical use
I have endometriosis, which causes me to have severe abdominal pain and it is a life-long battle that I have to fight. I have had surgery for this several times already, however there is nothing that can be done to cure endometriosis, the Dr.'s just try to control it. I am only 27 at this time. I have smoked for several years, but what I have discovered in the last couple years, is that when I have stopped to try to get different jobs, my level of pain dramatically increases. I have to attribute this to the marijuana, because that is the only change I made. I don't like taking the medication that the Dr.'s have given me because they make me unable to stay awake, much less function. I'm not trying to condone what I do, I just think it is worth the time invested in medical research. This could be made into a prescribed drug that would cost much less than what the pharmaceutical companies charge to fill my prescriptions. That costs me a fortune each month! Unfortunately though, I'm sure they will ultimately find a way to make a fortune off of it if it is ever leagallized.

Calls for "More Research". Again.
It sounds like Bill Bradley is just using stall techniques. Nothing new.Perhaps Bill Bradley should have said, "I am in favor of putting medical marijuana patients in jail regardless of the views of the voters of the states they live in. There's no point in considering states' rights or compassion in this matter..."Doctor Dave"A nation that makes war on huge numbers of its own citizens can never truly be free."

Another goof to vote against
It's often said that it's better the Devil you know than the one you don't. Boy Clinton was all for cannabis usage by the ill... until he was elected and showed his true colors. This latest addition to the dinosaur brigade has made his feelings (and that's all they are, feelings, certainly not based upon facts) clear on the matter. By doing so, he has made your job a lot easier - vote against the jerk.
