Three people, two of them carrying guns, robbed a San Francisco medical marijuana club of $5,000 in pot and cash Tuesday night, the club's director said yesterday.
Wayne Justmann, the executive director of the San Francisco Patients Resource Center, said the three men pushed two staff members to the ground and hit another in the face during the holdup, which took place at 6:50 p.m. The club, situated at 350 Divisadero St. near Oak Street, was open at the time of the incident. The robbers were African American and in their late 20s or early 30s, Justmann said. ``They were unmasked, which was very bold,'' he said. The person who usually checks people for a doctor's recommendation had stepped away from the door when the robbery was committed, Justmann said. The club has been open for four months. Justmann said it was the first time the club had been robbed. He said that security has been tightened and that the club reopened the next day ``because we can't let this slow us down.'' ``Many of our members need medication on a daily basis,'' he said. The rats are coming out of the sewers, now
It's said that Nature abhors a vacuum. A new form of dirtbag has emerged to fill a niche created by the Twilight Zone status of MMJ in California - the MMJ predator. This only serves to emphasize that the status of MMJ can and must be 'nailed down' so that any such future occurances (and there will be) can be dealt with by the very forces initially opposed to the matter in the first place, the police. Here is true irony: the police must now seek out and apprehend criminals who have stolen a marginally legal substance by California law which is wholly illegal by Federal law. Who will have jurisdiction, the Feds or California? What will the perps be charged as? Drug dealers or common thieves? For you narcs out there reading this: you can now see what a can of worms have finally been dumped in your laps. This is what comes from trying to block what should have been re-legalized long ago. Now you are going to have to side with the very people many of you dismissed and derided as having no legitimate reason to use cannabis, because their *medicine* has been stolen, and it is now your responsibility to find and arrest the real criminals - not the sick people you used to bust with such relish.
