Former First Lady Barbara Bush Rejects Marijuana

The campaign opposing a "medical" marijuana initiative in Maine got a generous boost this week, courtesy of Former First Lady Barbara Bush.
Mrs. Bush is featured in a series of television and radio public service announcements aimed at educating the public about marijuana as "medicine." In the spots, originally recorded for The Drug Free America Foundation, Mrs. Bush expresses her concern as a parent and grandparent for the growing numbers of children and youth using drugs in America today. "Now is not the time," Mrs. Bush declares emphatically, "to send the message to our young people that marijuana is `medicine.' It is not. It is a dangerous, illegal drug." The Drug Free America Foundation's agreement to share Mrs. Bush's message is a marketing coup for Mainers opposing marijuana legalization. "She is one of the most recognized and highly respected individuals of our time," said Calvina Fay, Drug Free America's executive director. "We think of her as our nation's grandmother; compassionate, nurturing and infinitely wise. Sharing her concerns about legalizing marijuana should persuade voters to reject medical excuse marijuana." The following is Mrs. Bush's Public Service Announcement opposing medical excuse marijuana: "Hello. I'm Barbara Bush. Some of the most rewarding experiences of my life have come from working with children. As parents and grandparents, George and I have learned first hand the joys and challenges of raising a family in today's world. That is why I'd like to speak with you about an issue of great concern to us both. Over the last several years, there has been a dangerous trend of drug use by young people in our country. More are experimenting with illegal drugs and more are using drugs on a regular basis. That's why we are concerned about efforts to legalize marijuana and other illegal substances. Now is NOT the time to send a message to our young people that marijuana is medicine. It is not. It is a dangerous, illegal drug."11:30 a.m. Oct 19, 1999 Eastern Copyright 1999, Business WireMarijuana Vote Sparks Little Controversy - 10/16/99http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread3312.shtmlReefer Referendum - 10/08/99http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread3203.shtmlEditorial: Legalize Pot in Maine - 9/22/99http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread2983.shtml

Dr. Bush
I'll be darned, it looks like Barb has spent her time since the White House well - she's now become a doctor! It's great see her spending her time studying medicine and give her medical advice to the people for free. Thanks Dr Bush!As an interesting sidenote, didn't George (not the coke sniffer, but the coke dealer i.e. former head of the CIA), while he was in the White House, get put on eye medication that included THC? I seem to remember something about that (mostly that they were making fun of it on SNL), does anyone else?

Bush and cocaine... Iran/Contra revisted
For anyone wishing to learn how, despite a radar system that can spot a missile launch in Eurasia 2 seconds after it happens, (and can certainly pickup every penetration of US airspace) cocaine flooded into the US in the '80's, I would strongly suggest you read "COMPROMISED; Clinton, Bush, and the CIA" by Terry Reed. Reed was one of the pilots who was involved in Ollie North's 'Enterprise'. He trained the Contra pilots, and then was witness to the same planes that shipped arms down South bringing pallets of coke back to the US. For trying to tell the truth, he had a contract put out on him and has been on the run, ever since.Georgie Bush said back then that he was 'not in the loop' and didn't know about Ollie's little business deals. Yeah, right; a senior spookmaster, former head of the Company, 'not in the loop'? Puh-lease!Two-faced, lying sons-of- (fill in the blank)

Barbara Bush and Medicinal Marijuana
As a victim of glaucoma, I was offended by Barbara Bush's public service announcement re. medicinal marijuana. Mrs. Bush is clearly uninformed and unaware of the need for alternative, non-toxic, non-synthetic treatment for glaucoma patients. The entire Bush Family reminds me of a pack of thieves. They claim to be compassionate conservatives. I guess compassionate conservatism means they dont flip the finger to someone as they watch them drown, or in my case, as they watch me go blind. This is why they call me,GrmpyOlBag aol.com

Crap
What a load of crap! I guess because Babs says so, it must be true. I mean, if cannabis wasn't dangerous it would be legal, right? Drug use is up, says Babs, so don't pass this measure. Drug use is down, says McCaffrey, so we must be doing a good job. The stats-of-the-day are more flexible than rubber. An old statistics professor once said "if you beat the numbers enough, they will confess." The drug warriors have gone a step further and invented their own numbers (e.g., Dutch murder rate, drug use in terms of economic costs, etc.). I think the American people are starting to see through these lies, however slowly.
