The Other Al Gore

Vice President Al Gore seems intent on giving people something to talk about. On Wednesday, Gore revealed he'd be changing his campaign headquarters from D.C. to the more down home Nashville.
Then later that night on "Larry King Live" he declared himself the "underdog" candidate and paraded out rhetoric about moving his operation "from K Street to the aisles of Kmart." And if all that weren't enough, the VP has found one sure-fire way to get some talk. The November issue of Talk magazine helps Gore shed some of his ultra straight image. According to the article, Gore's service time in Vietnam was a highly formative period leading to Al and Tipper's search for peace, love and understanding. Tipper Gore was a caring liberal who started her own garage band at 16 and listened to Buffalo Springfield and the Grateful Dead, the article says. And after the war, an angered Gore wandered around his father's farm at night and "turned to philosophical musing and smoking pot, to loving his family—and distrusting his government." Until he ran for Congress, of course. But unlike Clinton, Gore nipped the pot issue in the bud in 1992 when he admitted to smoking—and inhaling—when he was younger. Will these revelations change his image? There is at least one doubter. "If he ever goes to Kmart, it will be with ten advance men and three dozen Secret Service agents," Brill's Content Editor-in-Chief Steven Brill told "Larry King Live," "and the CEO of Kmart leading him down the aisles."Kevin Stuart FRIDAY, October 1, 1999 Newsweek

The politician we're looking for? Please!!! If Mr. Gore is elected, we can expect more of the same old stuff. If you think that anything he does is spontaneous, and without political motive, I've got a bridge for sale! 'Mr. Environment' is the guy who needed more water in the Connecticut river to float his canoe for a political promo, so they released millions of gallons of already depleted water resources for the occasion. We are NOT looking for a politician, per se, but for an honest person, who will keep and uphold the Constitution of this nation (that's in the oath of office, by the way). If our elected officials had the guts, they would strike every unconstitutional law that Congress has ever made and give us back the liberty that was once enjoyed by the citizens of this great country. Mr. Gore (among others) does not fit this catagory.

He might be the politican we are looking for, but only if we are prepared to give active support. No politican will make any moves unless there is a clear basis of support. That is our job.

More Dialogue Needed!
Excellent Dankhank. It is true. I believe the next president will be seriously concerned with drug laws and their failure. I'm very glad the Gore spoke out and I do hope for more dialogue about pot especially.Peace, FoM!

A Little Peace, Love and Understanding, Please
Mr. Al Gore, sir, I haven't given up on you ...It seems that you are inching in our direction ...I hope it is true ...A politician in the right position, (president?)Could maybe declare a Executive Order to fundamentally change the cycle of hate in this country ...If it is possible he who did it would be a hero to the historians for a strong, humane and dangerous decision ...Mr. Gore ......... are you that man ????
