Starting over from scratch hasn't been easy or fun, but it's taught us a great deal about ourselves and life. Not only are we better people for what we have been through, we are surrounded by better people as well. That's a blessing we never expected and one we will never forget -- so many wonderful people coming into our lives. It's been seven months now since the court ordered the prosecution to turn over copies of our hard drive and we still don't have copies. Although our attorneys will pursue this in court, this is but one more example of the kind of tactics used by drug warriors to delay justice and force defendants to spend more money. Thankfully, our friends and supporters have empowered us to challenge such tactics. After all these months without our most basic computer records, Michele (who is looking very pregnant these days -- with a Christmas Eve due date) decided to reconstruct our financial and other records from hard copy, in order that we could proceed with the preparation of our bankruptcy. Our bankruptcy attorney, Ruth Rowlett is very capable and very understanding. They don't come any better than Ruth. Thanks to Ruth and Michele, we finally filed our bankruptcy papers to clean up the terrible financial mess that was created by our illegal arrest. ON A BRIGHTER NOTE: All of us are excited by the historic victory in the 9th Circuit Court by Jeff Jones and Rob Raich. This victory was close though. At one point, Jeff and Rob needed just $5,000 to keep going. I was honored to help secure that money for the defense effort and keep things on track. But we still have many court battles ahead for the Oakland club. Contributions to the Oakland CBC Defense Fund are still needed. Please drop me a line if you'd like to contribute. Congratulations to Chris Conrad and Mikki Norris who will be featured in the November issue of High Times as "Freedom Fighters of the Month." Both Chris and Mikki have worked tirelessly for reform and they played an important roll in the Prop. 215 campaign. This is some long overdue recognition for two of the finest people we know.
