Guerneville Sonoma County sheriff's officials are investigating the theft Saturday of marijuana plants that were reportedly being grown for medical purposes at a Guerneville home.
A resident at a house on the 13000 block of Highway 116 reported being awakened at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday by someone trying to remove marijuana plants from the yard, said Sgt. Dennis Bringham. The suspect threatened the resident with a knife then called to someone for help, Bringham said. An accomplice dropped a device that produced smoke and the two fled on foot with an undetermined amount of marijuana. As the two fled, another smoke device was deployed along Highway 116, Bringham said. One suspect may have been bitten by the resident's Rottweiler and suffered superficial injuries.
