UKIAH, Calif. California's attorney general has deemed Mendocino County's maximum daily allowance of medical marijuana -- equivalent to 12 pot cigarettes -- "excessive."
County officials said Attorney General Bill Lockyer's complaints were designed to draw attention away from problems the state Legislature is having in regulating the legal use of medical marijuana. On Monday, District Attorney Norman Vroman said the county's maximum allowance is "fair and reasonable.""If the state wants to provide some definitive guidance, we will be happy to attempt to bring our policy into conformance," Vroman said. "Until then, we're going to continue the way we are."Lockyer's complaints came in the form of an Aug. 24 letter to Vroman and to the sheriff of Mendocino County. The Legislature adjourned Friday without acting on a bill that would have created a statewide version of Mendocino County's program, which uses an ID card system for patients. The bill will likely be taken up in the next legislative session, said a spokesman for Sen. John Vasconellos, D-San Jose, who wrote the bill.In related news, a federal appeals court decided Monday that seriously ill patients may have a right to use marijuana despite federal narcotics laws. A Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals judge told a federal judge to rethink a decision he made last year, which resulted in the closure of a number of medical marijuana clubs.Prescribing marijuana for medical reasons was made legal in California when voters approved Proposition 215 in 1996. I have cancer and pot helps
I AM currently undergoing treatment for cancer. I am 40 and a full time mom of two great kids. After chemotherapy I have medication that I can take but if puts me to sleep and I still get sick. Then I smoke a few hits of a marijuana smoke and I feel 99% better. It cost less than my medication and seems more natural.

What you dont know about Marjuiana in Mendocino
What you dont have in theis letter is the part about how mendocino resedints are going to vote on legalization of marjuiana in Mendocino County! I think you should add that on the letter so people know that it is soon to be for more than just medical use...

Government Standards
It would appear that the Federal government thinks that 7.1 pounds per years is about right. That is the amount that they supply to each of the remaining eight patients of the now defunct Compassionate Investigative New Drug Program. That's 300 commercially rolled joints per month each. Seems only fair. (Oops, that's only 10 joints per day."
