A teen-ager who told police about marijuana growing in her house can return there to live with her parents, even though she is the lead witness in the case against them, a county court judge ruled Monday.
``The most important thing, I think, is the child and the stability of this child,'' Judge C.J. Vaughey of Montgomery County, Md., District Court. Vaughey overruled a decision of a court commissioner that barred Robert Alvarez, a former government official, and Kathleen Tucker, a well-known anti-nuclear activist, from contact with their 16-year-old daughter, Kerry. Vaughey ordered the parents not to discuss the case with the girl. She has been staying with friends since her parents' arrests last month. Prosecutors and defense attorneys say nobody is available to house her until the case is resolved, and her parents' lawyer, Steven Kupferberg, said Kerry twice told him she wanted to return to her parents. They were charged with growing and possessing marijuana after police in Takoma Park, Md., reported finding 69 marijuana plants in their home. Court documents show police searched the home after Kerry Tucker showed them photos of the plants. Alvarez was fired from his job as a senior policy adviser at the U.S. Department of Energy, Kupferberg said. He represented both parents in Monday's custody proceeding but is defending only Kathleen Tucker against the criminal charges. In addition to prohibiting the family from discussing the case, Vaughey warned the parents not to keep illegal narcotics in the house and told them to secure all prescription drugs. Prosecutor Vera White agreed that it is in the teen-ager's best interest to return home. Loyalty
You know the brainwashing has finally taken over when a child's first percieved loyalty is to the state and not to their parents. Is this what they call family values? These people's whole lives of hard work are ruined and all their hopes of future prosperity demolished. And all because of their own child. It doesn't get any sadder than that. END THE WAR AGAIST OURSELVES!IT IS TIME TO STOP PLAYING GOOD DRUG BAD DRUG AND BE HONEST!WHAT IS FREEDOM IF NOT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY? /\/ate

Fun at Home?
If I was the parents of this ignorant little girl, I would sell the house and most of the possessions, and then move into a tiny house with few amenities, living there 'till the hateful child grew up and left. No cable, no playstation, just lots of fun conversation and homework. With loss of job, that may happen anyway without trying. Nevertheless, the child must be made to understand the pitfalls of what she did. Loss of a probably pretty good income may unfortunatly spur that on.This is what the lies cause ... ever read "1984?"
