Hikers discovered the plants and reported their find to authorities. Investigators from the Sheriff's Department's narcotics unit counted about 500 marijuana plants. They said the operation was sophisticated and included an elaborate irrigation system. Sgt. Scott Dudek said investigators are trying to identify three suspects who they believe ran the operation and fled the area when deputies arrived.
