One More Marijuana Idea from Rep. David Simpson

Texas -- Yesterday was Texas Independence Day. It was fitting that Rep. David Simpson used the occasion to file a sweeping bill (HB 2165) that would end marijuana prohibition in Texas. I posted an item yesterday about his “Christian case for drug law reform.” Little did I know that this Longview Republican had put a radical pot bill in the hopper.A news release from Simpson’s office called the proposal a first in the nation; i.e., it would end marijuana prohibition but NOT substitute a different regulatory scheme. From the statement:
“I am proposing that this plant be regulated like tomatoes, jalapeños or coffee.”Rep. Simpson continued, “Current marijuana policies are not based on science or sound evidence, but rather misinformation and fear. All that God created is good, including marijuana. God did not make a mistake when he made marijuana that the government needs to fix.“Let’s allow the plant to be utilized for good—helping people with seizures, treating warriors with PTSD, producing fiber and other products—or simply for beauty and enjoyment. Government prohibition should be for violent actions that harm your neighbor—not of the possession, cultivation, and responsible use of plants.”Snipped:Complete Article: http://drugsense.org/url/AYb6TRP5Newshawk: HopeSource: Dallas Morning News (TX)Author: Rodger Jones Published: March 3, 2015Copyright: 2015 The Dallas Morning NewsWebsite: http://www.dallasnews.com/Contact: letterstoeditor dallasnews.comCannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

We are eating hemp seed daily
We buy shelled hemp seed in foil packaging from Canada. We put them raw on salads
I make tocos, spaghetti and more. They are delicious and have more digestible protein than meat.

Just in: vegetables part of healthy balanced diet
Great news!
I fear that this shift in attitude is largely fueled by big money looking to profit from the herb trade, but i can deal with that. As long as we can grow our own we'll have the ability to bypass commercial cannabis and save lives. It's true. We are slaves to vegetables. Cannabis flowers don't fall into the veggie category but hey, don't let that stop you from rounding out your diet with edibles.

This is for real. Right?
A Texas State Representative has filed a bill in the Texas Legislature to legalize cannabis like tomatoes, jalapenos, and coffee, and the DEA is very worried about wild rabbits getting "stoned" if medical marijuana is legalized in Utah?I'm awed. Totally awed.

very nice!
>>>God did not make a mistake when he made marijuana that the government needs to fixAmen to that brother! So important to have this leadership out there, even if this bill is going nowhere. This gentlemen is FAR ahead of the various drug-policy reform organizations with his position on cannabis. A lot of people could benefit from listening to this common-sense approach. The oppression in this country works by people simply not thinking things could be different. We don't need oppressive "seed to sale" cannabis laws that continue to persecute our community. And there is absolutely no reason for the government to butt its head into peoples' gardens - zero reason for it. There should be no laws governing cannabis in the home, on private property.

Double WOW
"All that God created is good, including marijuana. God did not make a mistake when he made marijuana that the government needs to fix....regulated like tomatoes, jalapeños or coffee.”-0-And it's no mistake that God indicated He created all the seed bearing plants saying they're all good on literally the very 1st page of the Bible.

Too Sane
re: "I am proposing that this plant be regulated like tomatoes, jalapenos or coffee."That makes far, far too much sense. Expect his colleagues to rise up in righteous indignation, and smite down this wicked idea, which represents everything they stand against.Marijuana is drugs. Drugs is bad. That's all a former prosecutor turned politician (about half of them), needs to "know".
