Washington, D.C. -- Hillary Clinton said Tuesday she supports medical marijuana "for people who are in extreme medical conditions" and wants to "wait and see" how recreational pot works in Colorado and Washington state. In an interview with CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour promoting her memoir Hard Choices, Clinton suggested she may be open to marijuana policy reform.
Clinton, a former secretary of state and potential Democratic candidate for president in 2016, responded to Amanpour's question about marijuana legalization first with her thoughts on medical cannabis."There are younger people here who could help me understand this and answer it," Clinton began. "At the risk of committing radical candor, I have to say I think we need to be very clear about the benefits of marijuana use for medicinal purposes. I don't think we've done enough research yet, although I think for people who are in extreme medical conditions and who have anecdotal evidence that it works, there should be availability under appropriate circumstances. But I do think we need more research because we don't know how it interacts with other drugs."Clinton also sounded supportive of new Colorado and Washington laws that have legalized recreational marijuana for adults."On recreational, states are the laboratories of democracy," Clinton said. "We have at least two states that are experimenting with that right now. I want to wait and see what the evidence is."As for trying marijuana herself, Clinton said she'll continue to abstain."Absolutely not," she said. "I didn't do it when I was young, I'm not going to start now."Although Clinton didn't fully embrace legalization for medical or recreational cannabis, her statements on CNN were a departure from her previous public comments. In 2012, Clinton said she wasn't convinced that U.S. drug legalization would end the cartel violence ravaging Central America."I respect those in the region who believe strongly that [U.S. legalization] would end the problem," Clinton said then, as reported by Politico. "I am not convinced of that, speaking personally."At the time, Clinton also commented on the passage of the recreational marijuana laws in Colorado and Washington."We are formulating our own response to the votes of two of our states as you know -- what that means for the federal system, the federal laws and law enforcement," she said.During her 2008 presidential campaign, Clinton said, "I don't think we should decriminalize, but we ought to do research into what, if any medical benefits it has."Currently, 22 states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for medical use. Still, federal law continues to ban the plant, classifying it as a Schedule I substance "no currently accepted medical use."Source: Huffington Post (NY)Author: Matt Ferner, The Huffington Post Published: June 17, 2014Copyright: 2014, LLC Contact: scoop huffingtonpost.comWebsite: -- Cannabis Archives

If Bernie Sanders would run I would support him and if Elizabeth Warren would run I would support her.

My Opinion
I respect President Obama for the things he has done that have directly influenced my husband and my life. I could never vote for a Republican so I will vote for Hillary if she runs but with no enthusiasm. Obama still has over 2 years to change Marijuana laws so I am still hopeful we will be further down the road before we get a new President.

Old Wine New Bottles
Hilarie's lassez-faire hype sounds suspiciously like W.'s "states rights" for cannabis legalization he trumpeted, which, after he was elected, promptly ignored and went on a dispensary raid rampage---hey, so did Obama. It's a good lie that seems to trick voters every time.

Who do I trust?
While I agree with you that Hillary is not to be trusted, I don't agree with what you said about President Obama. I think he has not really "stepped up to the plate" on the issue of Legalization of God's gift -- oops! I meant, ah, Marijuana -- but, then again, he is head and shoulders above most of the Republicans on this issue. Of course I voted for him. you think I should've voted for Mitt "the 47% won't vote for me" Romney? And, what about your "boy" Rand Paul? When he went on the Rachel Maddow Show, he was not ambushed...he opened his big, stupid trap about being against the Civil Rights and Pro-Labor legislation of the 1960s! He is siding with the Capitalist ANIMALS that are destroying this country. You see, now I know what he means when he says that Marijuana should be decriminalized...he only wants himself, and his boys, to be able to smoke pot! When you wrote, "the Saudi-sponsored Quisling in the Oval Office of The White House", you sounded like a typical Fox News viewer. Wake up and recognize the REAL enemy!

Why you should not trust Hillary Clinton:
She's a Bilderberg. Her husband, former U.S. President William Jefferson Clinton, is a Freemason. Their loyalties are for the "New World Order." Have you noticed Bill Clinton chummying up to for U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush? He's been doing it since he helped former U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush protect Bush's Crack Cocaine smuggling at Mena, Arkansas, airport, which was whitewashed by former C.I.A. Inspector General Fred Hitz, after U.S. House Intelligence Committee hearings. The Federal Register has an entry for the final report by C.I.A. Inspecter General Fred Hitz. The Federal Register also shows an entry of a Los Angeles Congresswoman's protest that the witnesses were not called to testify whom would have implicated George Herbert Walker Bush in the Crack Cocaine distribution scheme to fund an unauthorized war. Look: Bush Family patriarchs Connecticut U.S. Senator Prescott Bush and George Herbert Walker (along with a Rockefeller) secretly financed Adolph Hitler. It was then that the pharmaceutical industry began, from the Bayer aspirin people and/or I.G. Farben. The Bush Family are profiteers of endless wars and pharmaceuticals. The pharmaceutical industry has invaded the Medical Schools! Only about 17 States license naturopathic doctors. All of the news about the V.A. hospital scandals don't address the problem that no matter how many drugs are prescribed, no matter how many doctor's appointments are scheduled, THE SICK VETERANS WILL NOT PROPERLY HEAL WITHOUT NUTRITION, and this sick medical system we have in this country does not recommend nutritional supplements. They'd rather arrange a knee replacement operation than try having the patient ingest nutritional supplements such as chicken cartilage! Malnutrition causes "mental illness" and dangerousness, but you don't hear many scientific studies addressing it; do you? Its for their profit! And you shouldn't expect Hillary Clinton to do anything not authorized by the Bush/Rockefeller and other Illuminati. She was a warmonger, even though she lies about it. A vote for Hillary Clinton is the same thing as saying voting for Barack Obama was not a mistake. How many politicans are you people going to support based on their lies before coming to the realization that perhaps its time to vote for Third Party candidates or people with a track record of supporting the will of the people such as RAND PAUL??? There will always be dopies in the crowd to vote for Hillary Clinton because they want the first woman President. Black people voted for Barack Obama because they wanted the first Black President. Do you people believe Barack Obama is a good President? What is the REAL percentage of unemployment if Americans? You betcha Hillary Clinton will open the international borders for a "North American Union"!! She is a snake in the grass, just like the Saudi-sponsored Quisling in the Oval Office of The White House!!
