Denver Auditor Suggests 3.5 Percent Tax

Colorado -- Denver Auditor Dennis Gallagher disagrees with Mayor Michael Hancock's recreational marijuana tax target, arguing the city should seek a starting tax rate of 3.5 percent instead of the mayor's suggested 5 percent tax rate.Gallagher warned Denver City Council members in a letter sent to Councilman Charlie Brown Monday, that the city's 5 percent tax rate plan risks sending users back to the "dark shadows of the black market."
"He wants the city to be very careful about not putting too much of a tax on it, because you (could) then defeat the purpose of what Amendment 64 was meant to do, which is not buying on the black market," said Denis Berckefeldt, spokesman for the auditor. The city expects it will have to spend about $9.4 million on education, enforcement and regulation of the pot industry, for which the tax would compensate. The council will determine a starting tax rate and ceiling at its meeting Monday. The city will then pose those rates to voters in November. If approved, the council can raise the recreational marijuana tax rate to the determined cap.Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz said she is concerned with providing Denver with the necessary resources to regulate this new industry."I see no reason to start worrying about competing with the black market," she said. "I want to set (the tax) where I feel makes sense, and I don't believe that 5 percent is excessive."The letter came less than a week after an audit found grievous problems with how the city licenses, tracks and manages Denver's medical marijuana industry.SnippedComplete Article: http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_23717369/Source: Denver Post (CO)Author: Ally Marotti, The Denver PostPublished: July 24, 2013Copyright: 2013 The Denver Post Website: http://www.denverpost.com/Contact: openforum denverpost.comCannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

The Truth arrives
How much power does a citizen have? The expose' of the real powers and principalities is under way.The 'power of the vote' has been rendered, and witnessed as the useless token of false power that it is.People can vote until the day they die, and like everyone else who has lived consciously in america (about .05%) they will see only 'change' that benefits the already rich and powerful, while the people languish under the yoke of masters whose authority was deceivingly and truly 'unlawfully' attained. Conscious, awake people already have seen the lies and subterfuge. The veils of the Emperor are no less invisible than they have ever been, but alas one has to look with unfettered eyes to see. One cannot free themselves and continue to serve mammon -that is a self deception and that kind of ignorance is a stumbling block that keeps less aware people from realizing the truth. How much evidence do the people need to know that the government, corporations, banks, and the rest of the system that consumes this planet and its peoples are evil, corrupt, and will never, ever relinquish their power through some paltry illusion as 'the vote.'The good news is that cannabis is forcing them to make their plays and reveal their true nature. The bad news is that there is over 10,000 years of lies, deception, manipulation, and social designing to overcome, and people get comfortable in their denials -they are satisfied with the crumbs of their masters and the 'entertainment' that is given as a distraction.Prohibition lasted roughly 14 years. And contrary to popular belief, it was a people's movement that made it happen. In fact that movement was predominantly backed by women, whose husbands were held at bay in the bedroom until they gave in.It was not 'the people' who ended prohibition, it was the alcohol industry, and the entertainment industry that lobbied and won. Because alcohol is the greatest dumber-downer ever introduced to mankind. It literally destroys the higher functions of mind, and closes the door on consciousness. This is why the carpetbaggers who think to make a quick profit from the current confusion, are all about 'regulation' and equating cannabis to alcohol. Cannabis prohibition has been with us now for 80 years. It is a bit revealing to note that cannabis prohibition began roughly the same time alcohol prohibition ended.Drunkenness is now an 'american pastime.' Even our current seat warmer in the white house thought a 'beer summit' was somehow cool. Showing that it was politically correct to destroy one's brain cells and become stupid. I began to regret my useless vote right about then...As long as we continue to give the power to the false ones, liberty will only belong to the rich -like it does now. Those who take their liberties without 'paying for them' will be labelled and treated as criminals and terrorists. Just like now.The idea that any legislative body in this country cares about the 'will of the people' -except as a part of the 'election game' is ignorance of biblical proportion.Though this is not 'new' by any stretch of the imagination, the fact is that our 'leaders' are leading the way to destruction and little else. The system is corrupt and beyond 'fixing.' The unfortunate fact that the 'power of the people' is largely a myth, because 'the people' continue to sit on their virtual asses, and delegate their own responsibilities towards liberty an justice to the posers and pretenders who now hold the world in thrall. They have managed to keep the economy limping along...kept the gas and food prices to just about what most poor people in this country can afford from month to month and day to day. But only if you buy the junk, and not the real food. So most poor people are eating manufactured food.Soylent green is people!People are talking, because it's easy to see that the 'prosperity of america' is not so much any more. But the talk only satisfies the moment, then they go right back to their entertainment and jobs. Its an incredibly large hurdle, but the truth is that its only there because the people continue to believe in false power and authority, and invest their lives, time, and energy in the maintenance of corruption, and at their own expense!Yet the solution is so simple, easy, and right in front of us.All the time the media hypes 'democracy' 'the right of the people' 'the american spirit' etc., etc. Maybe the people should fulfill the hype and become the "people of great stature" that this country, its lands and its resources would uphold and support, instead of the couch sitting facebook twits they have become comfortable with.Maybe the 'social media' actually has more hot air than substance, because nothing is really hidden any more, yet the choices that people make in how to spend their time and their energy (money and the means to get it) are all about compromise so they can resume their entertainment that was so rudely interrupted by some social outcasts who dared utter truth in their presence and caused their few brain cells left over from legal alcohol consumption to activate.Cannabis heals, reveals, and is the single pivotal fact that will eventually topple all governments that refuse to return the power, liberty and rights of the people. Alas I fear our own corrupted government will fight to the bitter end to retain their power, position, and wealth.:LEGALIZE FREEDOM; Just Say NO To Thugs.

"In an America that lived up to it's tenants, these animals would be tried and convicted of major crimes along with Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld."That's right, they would. But this is not America, it's amerika. It is a fascist state. It is a police state. And the 'freedom of speech' only goes so far. I know from experience that the thugs don't honor any of our liberties if they feel their pride, or "honor" LoL is threatened. I wrote a poem. A poem! And was threatened by a cop who didn't like the fact that the truth about his father was exposed. I eventually had to change the name to get him and his cronies of my back. These creeps are evil. And like runruff I have seen them too up close and personal, too many times. And the 'state' and the people who employ them, is more corrupt and evil, because they are all parading around like the'righteous' and plating with words as if the intelligent can not see through their invisible robes.Well actually I guess most people believe they have authority, and that their thugs on the street are 'keepers of the peace.' They must, because. no matter what they say, the proof is in their wallet. Their god remains mammon, and the kings and rulers of the states are Mammon personified. America is dumbed down by corn syrup and twitter. Facebook is a glaring example of either an innate idiocy or that dumbing down.LEGALIZE FREEDOM

Arrogant and self entitled, wannabes.
The gung-ho psychos burned hutches and raped young girls up until the very end of Viet Nam.These useful DEA idiots are cut from the same mold. They are at the end of their shelf life here in the US but do not seem to know it. Is it any wonder. I had 40 of them over one morning as uninvited guest. I spent the next 24 hours with them. Robotic automatons is the best way to describe them. They act like a bust is a field day. they are insulting, stupid and very obtuse. As I sat in the midst of these butt-heads listening to their unbelievable inane banter, I lit up my pipe and puffed. They were so astonished they decided to pretend I wasn't smoking right in front of them.I cannot express how much I hate and detest these morons with guns. Like Viet Nam these in house mercenaries will win every fight but lose the war. Ideology is not what they are there for though, don't be fooled. some of your biggest crooks are DEA. I personally know some. I could name them here but they are thugs and will no doubt, hurt me or my wife.Except for the harm they will do I want them to crack down, get heavy, in today's prevailing attitude toward cannabis. Even those who do not want legalization do not want Gestapo tactics against Americans. In an America that lived up to it's tenants, these animals would be tried and convicted of major crimes along with Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.

DEA Raids Multiple Marijuana Dispensaries In
Washington StateFederal agents raided several medical marijuana dispensaries in Washington State Wednesday, following a two-year DEA investigation.

Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman Jodie Underwood confirmed the raids but declined to give further details.According to Kiro 7 News, targeted dispensaries included Tacoma Cross on Pacific Avenue, Seattle Cross on East John Street and Bayside Gardens in Lacey.

“A client of mine who was talking to a D.E.A agent was told that there were going to be 18 places raided today up and down the corridor,” said Seattle attorney Douglas Hiatt.

Personal cell phones were confiscated during the raid at Bayside Gardens according to Bayside employee Addy Norton, who has now been ordered to appear before a federal grand jury in September.

“We are still open! We may not have meds at the moment but we are still open! They will not keep us down!Thank You everyone for ALL of you support and love. We have no Meds, but we still have our dignity and we aren’t going anywhere,” said a post on the Facebook Page of Bayside Gardens.

According to Bayside Manager Casey Lee, a DEA agent told him that he should get out of the medical marijuana business because “things are going to be hell for you,” in an obvious attempt to scare and stifle owners into laying down to a federal government that refuses to prosecute banks such as Wachovia, who were caught laundering $378.4 billion worth of drug money in 2006.

look at the arrogance!
>>>Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz said she is concerned with providing Denver with the necessary resources to regulate this new industry."I see no reason to start worrying about competing with the black market," she said. "I want to set (the tax) where I feel makes sense, and I don't believe that 5 percent is excessive."this ingrained arrogance of the political class is why American can't solve any of its problemsDid anyone else watch Tour de France? I couldn't help but notice how nice all the road pavement is. We could never hold the Tour de France here in the northeast - no way you could do those types of rides around here on a road bike. The potholes would rattle your brains out.Even the French mountain roads are very smooth with no potholes. Our mountain roads resemble the surface of the Moon.
