AG Eric Holder Urged To Oppose MJ Ballot Issue

Denver -- A Colorado committee formed to defeat a marijuana issue on the November ballot has asked U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to weigh in with his opposition. Amendment 64 would allow adults statewide to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana for recreational use. The measure is opposed by a citizens group called Smart Colorado, which is represented by the Denver law firm of Holland & Hart.
In a letter to Holder, Smart Colorado attorney Jon Anderson noted that Colorado's ballot measure "parallels" a California measure, Proposition 19, that voters there defeated in 2010.The Department of Justice "aggressively" opposed that measure, Anderson said, and Smart Colorado wants the department to do the same in Colorado. "As you know, Colorado has the most expansive medical marijuana industry in the country," he wrote Holder. "To further expand their drug profits, this industry will invest enormous sums of money to erase all state restrictions on growing, transporting, and selling marijuana in Colorado. It is critical that Colorado voters understand the serious legal and policy implications of passing such a dangerous law."SnippedComplete Article: http://www.denverpost.com/politics/ci_20843643/Source: Denver Post (CO)Author: Lynn Bartels, The Denver PostPublished: June 13, 2012Copyright: 2012 The Denver Post Website: http://www.denverpost.com/Contact: openforum denverpost.comCannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

Hmmm. Looks like more stupid stuff from "Smart" Colorado. Mason Tvert says they are a small group of law enforcement officers. Now, I see. They're trying to protect their "Golden Goose" and keep those "Golden eggs" coming for law enforcement... and law enforcement only.

Putting a toxic drug in pain medicine thinking it will prevent people from taking more of the drug is stupid and medically wrong.

Thanks, FoM
Yes. It's awful that they put that acetaminophen in there like that. I asked my doctor when I had to take some sort of pain medicine after a a surgery, if she couldn't prescribe me something without the acetaminophen and she laughed and said, "Just don't take too much of it". I was offended.I'm glad it's a legitimate site. It looked fine at first but as I looked at the slides, I began to think it might be a treatment site or something. There are a lot of people in the world. A lot of people in this country and a significant number of all those people are being operated on, have injuries, or illnesses that need medication. I really think it's evil to purposely poison a medicine so that a person won't get addicted or dependent on it. That's truly evil no matter how they try to frame it. And besides evil and just wrong... it's such a really stupid thing to do. And the people responsible for the decision to do such a thing are supposed to be smart. I don't think so. I think they are despicable and are personally responsible for so much suffering. Suffering that's worse than being addicted to a substance. Much worse. Not that being addicted to and needing a substance isn't bad... but dying of liver disease is worse. They have no judgement... yet they are making huge and deadly judgments.Next thing you know they'll be poisoning food to "protect" people from over eating. Obesity is bad. So maybe that's what the "wise" among us will be thinking they should do. Poison food. Of course it will be set up to only hurt you if you eat more than your allotted caloric intake. Sure.Well. I guess we'd have less obesity, for sure.

That's a legit web site. I think banning those drugs because of the acetaminophen that can kill wouldn't be a bad thing. Let people have pain medicine that is pure. Our friend was just prescribed morphine.

Maybe you shouldn't go to that site. I'm not sure it's legitimate news at all. HealthCentral.Com is where it is. But I'm not sure about that site at all after I read more.Don't go there and FoM can remove the post tomorrow.Sorry.

FDA Advisory Panel Recommends Banning Vicodin and Percocethttp://tinyurl.com/84wtnskVery interesting. Very sad. More insanity. Poisoning people to a hard death, to keep them from getting addicted to a drug. That's evil.

"If they see this and other articles showing how THC and CBD prevent (and may possibly reverse*) Alzheimer's, will they still cling to their insane ideology of prohibition?"You and I both know they will. They really are wrong. And they pursue their wrong with zeal. They keep doing it and are blind to the truth. They refuse to see it. It really is a type of insanity, it looks to me like. Anyway, we know they are not reasonable or rational. It really is phenomenal.Thank you so much for your work, Storm Crow. You're phenomenal.

The List
Wow, Granny SC that is incredible! I haven't seen it in a few years, VERY impressive and useful! I am taking 1-2 tablespoons of hemp seed oil daily - is that enough Omega-3's?

New, even bigger 2012 List!
Just send me an email at- stormcrow (funny little "at" symbol) green passion. orgOr I also have it posted here- it's a secure site.https://www.greenpassion.org/index.php?/topic/31927-granny-storm-crows-mmj-reference-list-january-2012/I usually send out a PDF, but I also have it in WORD if you ask. Hotmail has a problem with my new List- it's too darn big... over 670 pages of study and article links! Hotmail users will get the List, but in 2 parts. And take your Omega 3! It is necessary for the health of your endocannabinoid system! (Just trust me on this and read some from the "Omega 3 / CB1 Connection" section in my new List!)

Hi, I have been trying together your 420page document but when I try the link it goes nowhere please repost.Isn't this a conflict of interest? Lawyers want the law on the books so they an make more money off the victims of bad policy. Holder is an arse.

Smart Colorado???
Wonder what those "smart" people would say if they know that THC from cannabis is almost 10 times more effective than Aricept(the leading Alzheimer's drug), at preventing the deposit of amyloid plaque? WebMD put out a nice little article in 2006 about it! Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's (news - 2006)
http://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/news/20061006/marijuana-may-slow-alzheimers“THC blocks an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which speeds the formation of amyloid plaque in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's drugs Aricept and Cognex work by blocking acetylcholinesterase. When tested at double the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.”TWICE the Aricept works only 22% as well as THC! That alone is a good enough reason to legalize cannabis! Aricept is an expensive, side effect laden drug that is greatly outperformed by a growable, herbal medicine, cannabis! If they see this and other articles showing how THC and CBD prevent (and may possibly reverse*) Alzheimer's, will they still cling to their insane ideology of prohibition?*THC stimulates both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Macrophages are "clean-up crew" cells.(the URL is kind of long, so look this up yourself!)"The activation of cannabinoid CB2 receptors stimulates in situ and in vitro beta-amyloid removal by human macrophages."If you get enough beta amyloid removed, will the brain start healing itself? It is well documented that cannabinoids can restore neurogenesis, the formation of new brain cells! (there is a LOT more to it, but I think it is possible to reverse some cases of Alzheimer's!)

AARRGH! And "Yes" was such a great band, too!
I can't believe their lead singer has morphed into a fancy pants lawyer playing footsies with a box of rocks! It could be worse. I'm sure there's a whole heap of country music fans out there scratching their heads too."If you don't laugh when you can, you will cry all day" – fake quote.
