A Saginaw County judge says he will rule in two weeks whether a city fire lieutenant and his wife must stand trial.
Chief District Judge Christopher S. Boyd ended a preliminary hearing Wednesday for David E. and Denise E. Markle, 41.Prosecutors have charged them with maintaining a drug house, a two-year misdemeanor, at their home on Throop and North Woodbridge. David Markle, 43, faces an additional count of manufacturing marijuana, a four-year felony. Both are free on personal recognizance bonds.Boyd gave attorneys until Friday, Sept. 3, to submit legal briefs.Police said the Markles were away when they entered the house to investigate a party Aug. 22, 1998. They said the couple's 19-year-old daughter allowed them to search the house for minors consuming alcohol.Police said they found six or seven marijuana plants hanging in a closet to dry and one marijuana plant in a pot. Officers said they also discovered lights used to grow plants.David Markle remains employed at the Fire Department, which he joined in 1985. His supervisors promoted him to lieutenant in 1996. Nuts
My first thought is to slap the daughter ... Then ask her if she will ever let cops voluntarily into her house or her parents house again. Beyond that ... No One shoud be arrested for personal use in their own home. The war on Marijuana must stop.
