Weather, Enforcement Lowers Turnout at Smoke Out

Colorado -- University of Colorado officials estimate the turnout at today's unsanctioned 4/20 marijuana smoke-out on the Boulder campus fell short of the 10,000 people who attended each of the last two years, thanks to a combination of scattered rain and stepped-up police enforcement. According to police officers stationed at Norlin Library, about 5,000 smokers had assembled on Norlin Quad by 4 p.m. -- although that number greatly increased just before 4:20 p.m., when the participants lit up simultaneously.
A partially rainy afternoon and strict parking security were likely at least part of the reason for the low turnout, CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said, but students said many stayed away until the big moment because of police crackdowns. Students across Norlin Quad said they were frustrated with the heightened efforts of police to hinder marijuana use today during the hours leading up to 4:20 p.m. Sophomores Erik Briner and Renny Ratliff both have medical marijuana licenses but said they were threatened with tickets by police as they entered the quad this morning around 11:30 a.m. "It seems like the cops are going to be really watching if people have licenses this year," Briner said. "I don't know if they'll ticket really or not, but they seemed serious about it." While CU police had given only 12 tickets by 4 p.m., 11 of which were for possession of marijuana, that preliminary number is more than five times that of last year, when police issued only two tickets for possession, spokeswoman Molly Bosley said. And having a medical marijuana license was not a "get out of jail free card" for some students. Bosley said as of 3:45 p.m., there was at least one ticket issued to a license holder for smoking in public, an offense not covered by the possession of a license. Students said they felt it was unfair for police to single students out since everyone was smoking, and, in the past, CU police was more lenient about ticketing. Students said they migrated to the west end of Norlin Quad and filled in the space moving east toward the library in an attempt to avoid authorities. Last year, the crowds began in front of the library and worked their way west, Hilliard said. Museman!
You've been on my mind a lot lately. It's good to see you. I'd love to see your invention... although Flash gives me trouble... a lot. I'd like to try it and see what you've been up to.

Had Enough, FoM, Hope,-other friends
Friends I miss, contention I do not,...For those who are interested, I have 'invented' a standalone desktop album format, based on the flash application. So far I have gotten 4 complete and online. You have to request them though, I am not sharing them with the world, only my friends. They are free to my friends. This link goes to my contact page, - any attempts at spamming or loading up my storage with bogus comments/emails won't work.I have also begun my video discourse on reality (I decided making a video that only the special few would be interested in is a lot easier than writing and attempting to 'publish' a book that only the special few would read!)For those who are interested, you should be able to find it.Legalize Freedom!

Had Enough
Thank you for the song. We have their Old Friends DVD. We love it. I hope museman is still reading. The hits on CNews are very high but not many people are posting. I know he has other issues of importance so I understand why he doesn't post anymore.
