Colorado -- Last year, Dorian Beth Wenzel, a Manitou Springs writer and arthritis sufferer, penned a letter to a local newspaper that disclosed her status as a medical-marijuana patient. The paper printed the letter, and soon afterward Wenzel found herself face-to-face with the human-resources director of the nonprofit organization she works for. Wenzel's office, her HR director told her, is a drug-free workplace.
"It is kind of scary when your HR department is telling you that you could be fired," Wenzel said. "And it's like, 'Why?' "To Colorado's already-vexing cannabis conundrum, add yet another riddle: Are medical-marijuana patients protected from discipline under their employers' anti-drug policies? In the past week, two other stories that pose such a question have emerged:• In the first, an Idaho Springs high school teacher and football coach resigned from the school after being charged with smoking marijuana on school grounds, even though he said he was a legal patient.• The second involves a Denver city employee who failed a routine drug test taken after an on-duty car accident. The employee said medical-marijuana use accounted for the positive test. Can an employer punish someone for doing something that is constitutionally protected?"This issue is up in the air right now," said Vance Knapp, a Denver lawyer with Sherman & Howard who deals in employment law. "It hasn't been litigated through the courts."In other words, nobody really knows yet. Hatred. Fear. Greed. Dominance.
Look what they've done for America.

Good job, Runruff.
Wouldn't want them to have anything less than plenty to do their indecent and unreasonable searches with.

Doin' their job
I expect that Runruff will be harassed up till the day his supervision expires. The people doing it are drab dreary people who slough off any questions or comments with statements like "hey, I'm just doin' my job" or "well if you hadn't been doin' that you wouldn't be here, don't blame me" and similar brainless brushoffs.

for the aspiring HR director......
"While these calculations were from official records, according to the federal commissioner in charge of the Stasi archives in Berlin, because many such records were destroyed, there were likely closer to 500,000 Stasi informers.[4] A former Stasi colonel who served in the counterintelligence directorate estimated that the figure could be as high as 2 million if occasional informants were included"Full-time officers were posted to all major industrial plants (the extensiveness of any surveillance largely depended on how valuable a product was to the economy)[10] and one tenant in every apartment building was designated as a watchdog reporting to an area representative of the Volkspolizei (Vopo).[9] Spies reported every relative or friend that stayed the night at another's apartment.[9] Tiny holes were bored in apartment and hotel room walls through which Stasi agents filmed citizens with special video cameras.[9] Similarly, schools, universities, and hospitals were extensively infiltrated.[9] After the mid-1950s, Stasi executions were carried out in strict secrecy, and usually were accomplished with a guillotine and, in later years, by a single pistol shot to the neck.[11] In most instances, the relatives of the executed were not informed of either the sentence or the execution.[11]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stasi

Really?
>>>>The paper printed the letter, and soon afterward Wenzel found herself face-to-face with the human-resources director of the nonprofit organization she works for. Wenzel's office, her HR director told her, is a drug-free workplace. Wow, people must get really upset that they can't have caffeine! Oh, wait, I guess it's not REALLY a drug-free workplace, is it?Humanity is fascinating - the same witch-hunting, scapegoating instinct is present in a large percentage of homo sapiens. So many, like this HR director, cannot face their own shortcomings and faults. So they persecute and pour shame and derision on others instead. All the government has to do is pass a few laws a run a few propaganda spots on TV and you'll get a good 20 or 30% of the population EAGER to punish and persecute the selected minority. It could be anything. It could be people that are anti-war. It could be people that want to eat differently, wear different clothes. People with different hair. All you need are a couple of authority figures to identify the minority and the fun can begin! Depending on how much effort the govt. and churches put into it, you can get anything from tortute and burning people alive to 800,000 arrests per year.

A Marijuana Quandary
January 25, 2010Colorado employers are facing dueling mandates when it comes to allowing their employees to use medical marijuana. It’s the kind of situation other states are likely to face as medical-pot use becomes more accepted.
