Does Anyone Remember The "Free World?"

Does anyone remember the "free world?" Do you remember living in a free country? Remember when they said, "If you don't like the law, change it." Well hold on to those memories because that's all that you have left.
In 1996 we passed Prop. 215 which is now section 11362.5 of California Health and Safety codes. The prosecutorial state and law enforcement do not like this law. The law, known as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, states "Section 11357, relating to the possession of marijuana, and Section 11358, relating to the cultivation of marijuana, shall not apply to a patient, or to a patient's primary caregiver, who possesses or cultivates marijuana for the personal medical purposes of the patient upon the written or oral recommendation or approval of a physician." Seems crystal clear to me. "Vague and poorly worded" is the response from drug cops and prosecutors in many counties. In an attempt to placate law enforcement state Sen.John Vasconcellos' committee (well represented by law enforcement) drafted SB 848 which would establish a registry of patients. Wouldn't it be cheaper and simpler to just tattoo a number on the left forearm? Steve Kubby, who with his wife, has a valid recommendation from his physician yet is going to trial in Placer County on July 20 on possession and cultivation charges (among others) says, "SB 848 is a cowardly act of appeasement, shamefully constructed on the backs of sick, disabled and dying people, to protect the selfish interests and drug war bloated budgets of California's corrupt law enforcement agencies." Don't worry though. The Governor's staff has said that he will veto SB 848 should it pass the legislature. The reason given was something about conflict with federal law. So much for the will of the people. Police State: "A state in which the government exercises rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic, and political life of the people."Hold on to those memories.Sincerely,Al GilmoreRedway, CA Related Article:A Personal Letter To Mr. Davis - 7/24/99http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread2194.shtml

Hello Dr. Ganj!It would be a dream come true to have this wonderful plant liberated. I hope it happens soon! I find it harder and harder to believe with each new day that marijuana prohibition will last must longer. All the lies have been exposed and they can't give any answers that make any sense. All this over a plant! Isn't it something?Peace, FoM!PS: I bookmarked the link you posted and thanks!
