Wisconsin -- The cute girl in the YouTube video has a crush on Obama. I know how she feels. I 've had a crush on Bill Clinton. I already know all the reasons why this is stupid. In fact, I saw one of those reasons standing in line, waiting to get into the Stock Pavilion on the UW-Madison campus. It was one of our former interns at the newspaper. She 's young and beautiful and smart. And I know how the old cad is with those young interns. So I jumped in line to protect her.
Sitting there, in the old barn still redolent with the hay and animals that star in Stock Pavilion events, we scanned the crowd as we waited.Who got to sit in those reserved seats behind Clinton? They were the political version of the cool kid table in the high school lunchroom. She recognized UW-Madison student and superdelegate Awais Khaleel. As the rest filed in, I filled her in.That 's Joe Wineke, he used be a state senator, now he 's head of the Democratic Party. The bald guy? Tom Loftus, he used to be ambassador to Norway. The woman firing up the crowd? Hannah Rosenthal, she used to be and that 's her husband, Rick Phelps, he once was And then it hit me. I was talking about a time when she was in grade school. Finally, Clinton took the stage. I nudged her.He 's cute, isn 't he?She was diplomatic: He 's a very nice-looking older man.Sigh. Clinton didn 't seem bothered by the fact that Barack Obama outdrew him nearly 10-to-1 at the jam-packed Kohl Center two days before.Clinton delivered his valentine to Hillary, telling the students that his wife started changing the world back when she was their age and a Yale law student. He talked about how America 's status had gone to the dogs since he left office. He talked and he talked, for over an hour.By contrast, the Obama event had been quick-boom-bang. There was the cool celebrity video by the Black Eyed Peas on the big screen, a quick introduction by Gov. Jim Doyle, and a trademark Obama speech, short on details, long on inspiration. He talked about the young crowd, not to them: It 's your time, seize the moment.Remember 1992, when the Clintons were the cool young people?Back when they played Fleetwood Mac 's "Don 't Stop " and other songs of our generation.Out on the sidewalk was someone else who remembered. It was another graying Madison icon, marijuana activist Ben Masel, who was sandwiched by Secret Service guys in their sharp suits. Masel was holding up a sign that said, "Where 's Jacki 's medicine? "The way Masel tells it, Jacki Rickert, who suffers from a painful connective tissue disorder, met Clinton on his 1992 bus trip through Wisconsin, and asked him to legalize marijuana for medical use. Clinton told her, in his husky drawl, I feel your pain. But when he got into office, the president who didn 't inhale didn 't legalize medical marijuana. Jacki didn 't get her medicine. The rest of us who voted for him didn 't get our health-care reform. How will the future play out for today 's Obama girls?I do know this: After two hours on the cold concrete steps of the Stock Pavilion, I felt my own pain.Where 's my medicine?Source: Wisconsin State Journal (WI)Author: Susan Lampert SmithPublished: February 17, 2008Copyright: 2008 Madison Newspapers, Inc.Contact: wsjopine madison.comWebsite: http://www.wisconsinstatejournal.com/Related Articles & Web Site:Madison NORMLhttp://www.madisonnorml.org/Obama Exhibits Honesty About Drug Use http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23672.shtmlObama: Decriminalize Pothttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23646.shtml

Again, I'm sorry about your loss of Elvis. You're welcome about the jokes. Here's one for the road.A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm and says: "A beer please, and one for the road." :0)

I'm still telling those jokes and getting a hoot every time! Thanks! :)museman, you are too cool. I think the next step I take in the political pooh pooh will be the one you advocate. I already don't trust any of them and I never said I would vote for a Republican, but I sure would vote for another party with Ron Paul's ideas. Actually, they are not his ideas, and that is what most people miss. All they see is Republican and totally miss the message. But that's ok. The message is still there. It's been there two hundred or more years. You don't have to come to a web site or any media site to get the message. It's on the hemp fibers it was written on so long ago. It's also permanently embedded in every True Blue American's heart. It's not the message Government wants you to here anymore but that's tough. For the government. We have the right to change our government AND the Cannabis laws. In fact, the both are inseperable.I wasn't drunk with alcohol, Hope, but I was drunk with Liberty. I had poured myself a heaping cup before I sat down at the key board. Sorry, FoM, if I spilled too much of that Liberty here at C-news. I'll truly try to be neater about it in the future.museman, God bless you, Brother. I wondered where you were. Hope you and yours are safe and comfortable.Peace.Toke.

I love you. You are definitely a woman "after my own heart". Meaning, of course, that we're so much alike. Maybe we can meet someday. I hope so.In fact... I feel like catching a bus and running up there to give you a hug and comfort. I can't though... not right now, anyway. We all need comfort when someone who was supposedly a friend turns on us. Dang. I'm disappointed in our old friend, Truth... or more correctly, Mark.

I'm sorry I missed the excitement.I have to log in on this one.First of all, FoM, you have a tough job. You do it well. Nobody is perfect. Had Enough; Your lyrical/musical references are impecably apt.Toker; perhaps it is all this candidate debate crap that has at least temporarily distanced me from more participation - pesonally I don't believe in ANY OF THEM!My personal opinion is that you can't purify corruption with more of the same, and you can't even get in the game without capitulating to the corruption. They are all damaged goods, so why bother. I mean if all we really have are choices between great evil , and not so great evil, it's just a motion, a meaningless action at the voting booth.I think Hillary is a political whore -like her hubby- whose itinerary and agenda is one and the same as the rest of the bilderberg/skull-and-bones/newworldorder crowd.Obama; comes across as an efficient accountant. Reminds me of Tuvok the Vulcan on Star Trek Voyager. I have no doubt that his support of the status quo far outreaches any concerns he may have towards the sanctity of personal liberty, and just because he wrote a book about his dabbling with illegal substances at the edges of 'the Great Society' is pretty meaningless to me, except that he filled a space where a real writer might have fed his children. As far as I can tell, Obama is the epitomy of compromise. I don't see 'change' as being any where in his consciousness.Ron Paul is a Republican. Despite all the impressive people support, he is a republican. In my 30+ years of voting, I have never witnessed a Republican do anything but create war, escalate economic disparity between the rich and poor, and strip away what little personal freedoms and liberties our ancestors strove so mightily for in the past. Yes his words are what the trodden on, the disadvantaged, and the honest men and women want to hear, but dammit, words are cheap, especially politicians who can hire speech writers and thinktanks to be their conscience, and supply the public with what they want to hear.I am thoroughly disgusted with all of the candidates, the system that spawns them, and the lack of gumption on the part of the American voters - who just seem to lie down and take whatever is handed them, whether it is a war, tax breaks for the rich, laws that cater to the elite classes, and religion that conforms to the standards of the aforementioned groups. As far as 'truth' goes. I personally am glad that cat got pinned once it was out of the bag. What arrogance!

Screen size
I've got seventeen inches... normal screen here... and 17 "wide-screen" on the lap top... which means it's shorter up and down than this pc screen.I appreciate a big screen, which I used to have... eons ago, it seems now. I think it was a twenty one inch that was huge and set like a small Volkswagen on the desk. We put one of those radiation filter screens over it. This is a much, much thinner, lighter monitor... but it seems smaller screenwise, too.I can increase the text size... but it gets odd on a screen too small for it.

My two cents
I've been reading the posts here for several years.I can tend to be too enthusiastic and a little reactionary. I always hesitated to post because there would be times when I would disagree with FoM's replies to certain posts.I have to say though that after reading thousands of posts, I have ended up agreeing with FoM's moderating about 99% of the time. Sometimes it is hard to keep our eyes on the prize when they turn red with anger. She has kept this board on an even path. She can be firm but I believe it is necessary if we are to continue to gather respect for our opinions on what remains a controversial topic for a lot of people. We have the knowledge. We have the truth about MJ on our side.Let's continue to work together. This is a special time in the history of the movement. This is a special place to discuss the issue. It is like we have been climbing a mountain for years and we can finally see the summit. Thanks FoM, for being a good guide.

I will probably have this one fixed. Then I will have two backup computers but my older one won't work with my aircard. This one will. I am very pleased with this aircard. Think about a portable computer. If I was down to one, I'd go for a large portable one. A large screen and a full size keyboard. Like the one I recently received. It's Vista, and strange... but it's easily portable. Not so totable as a smaller one... but portable.I don't know why they call them lap tops. I don't like the idea of a powerful computer in my lap. Seems kind of like sticking your head in the microwave... with it waving.Mines a Toshiba, and it's speakers are crummy, compared to my daughter-in-law's Dell. But there are small portable attachable speakers to rev things up when necessary.

Thank you. I was raised in a way that I knew that rules are made for a purpose. I don't mind following rules. I think it's important to be able to do what we want as long as we aren't infringing on those around us. I also believe in respecting other people's things. Hate only creates destruction and life is too short to spend time hating everything. You miss out on good things that way and also make people miserable.

The way he held his head so proud in spite of pain. The way he forgot his pain when unfamiliar noises came. On guard! Always. Always! He always barked and then looked at me. A friend of mine,
that just happened to be a Wiemaraner dog, left a series of nose prints along the leading edge of my bedroom door, where he applied his nose to push the door open from the outside. The most important part of my conversation last night was I told him about us. I told him that I have been doing this web site for almost 10 years and gave him the url. I said I only post articles about Senator Obama and the marijuana issue as they surface not political articles. He seemed impressed. I said I know that he can't talk about this subject now but I expect him to when he is elected. I said we have waited this long so I think we can wait a little longer. He got what I was saying.

Our old dog friends
and their love stays in our hearts forever... or at least this far into forever... it seems.Their names like a list of constant and loving companions that are such good souls... it's a crying shame to lose their presence. It's always with trepidation that we allow our lives to become involved with creatures who bless us, but aren't allowed to live the decades we'd like to keep them. There is a good side to that though... leaving them bereft if we died would and easily could be a very hard thing for them.

We are flooded with news and spin this election and never in my life have I seen so much data being thrown at us. It is an amazing time for me. I never really cared since Bobby Kennedy was murdered. I voted and liked John Kerry but this election is different. It will soon be determined if it will be McCain vs. Hillary or McCain vs. Obama. Within a few weeks we should know or at least after Texas and Ohio. I was contacted on the phone last night by the head of the Obama campaign for a 4 county area including my county. He wants me to help. He asked me to help them find rental buildings for this short time. I'm trying. Soon we will know and our future will be clearer.

Tense times
The entire nation high on political "cocaine like hopeful feelings"... poised for a tussle... aaargh.A weak bridge? A loose cannon. All of those and more.Reminds me of that time someone told on here about being at a party that everyone was doing cocaine... and the tension got thick and was escalating to the point that it looked like it was going to be the cocaine version of a alcoholic knock down drag out.. so to speak.

A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath.
This made him. (This is bad, cause I bet his breath was sweet... with the scent of fruit and nuts)..... A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

I remember.
Remember 1992, when the Clintons were the cool young people?Back when they played Fleetwood Mac 's "Don 't Stop " and other songs of our generation.Out on the sidewalk was someone else who remembered. How will the future play out for today 's Obama girls?I do know this: After two hours on the cold concrete steps of the Stock Pavilion, I felt my own pain.Where 's my medicine?

Had Enough/FoM/Hope
Thank you and Diamond. Great music and great links. It's what I was missing.FoM, you know good and well that I care very much about you and am forever indebted, like the rest of us, to you for all you have given us. I would never disrespect you. It's been a while since I posted and I just kept reading all these knock downs of Truth and the seeming uncaring about some of the rest of the absent Activists here. Almost all our answers to almost all our questions lies in the cesspool of Governmental Policies. Politics. Cannabis provides a wide area of conversational topics because it effects such a wide area of our domestic policies. I'm simply saying that the idea of returning to our background constitutional values as a Nation and as a People, is the best direction we could head, no matter WHO is pointing the way. I certainly wish a Democrat had had the...courage... to stand by the only power that keeps us from being a Democracy, the Constitution. No where is the word Democracy in any of the founding Documents that created this great Republic. Neither Politicians nor Government gave us the rights that are protected by the Constitution. GOD gave us those rights. IF WE CAN KEEP THEM. Now we are at a point where we will either keep our Constitutional Republic, or we will lose it. And it will depend on every American who understands that. This is not being Political. This is being aware and concerned that maybe not enough of us understand what "If we can keep 'er," really means. So we can talk politics when it comes to candidates that MAY win, but not about ones the MSM has predetermined for us that CAN'T win? Even when it is proven that MSM is lieing about RP vote totals? Even when he is one-up on every MAY win candidate when it comes to ending the War On Some Drugs? When it comes to getting government out of our lives by stopping the DEAth raids and releasing non-violent cannabis offenders? By chasing out of Washington the Drug Warriors who have influenced our entire society to hate anything not sanctioned by the State? Even if this person is the only one saying what needs to be said and doing what needs to be done to help our cause? The candidate that no one wants to hear from is right now arranging the necessary legislation in Washington to create a Freedom March on Washington. Are any of the other MAY win candidates standing up to big brother? Hell no. But this man is. If you are supporting Obama, and you are the moderator of Cannabis News and after anyone reads your posts about him and your support for him, would it be wrong to assume that C-news is a Pro-Obama site? If so, then it is you, also, who are making this a political site. I am not arguing. I am making observations that are relevant to the "rules" here at C-news.FoM, you know I want to post here. Now that I have gotten this issue pretty well out of my system, I can cool it, but when you start canning people for doing what you and the rest of us are doing, it gets really hard to just set back and say, oh well, it's FoM's living room. She gets to do what she tells us we can't do. Only it's not FoM's living room. This is an Internationally accessible web site visited by people of all walks of life and from all over the World. We can get on each other like family and the rest of the world will still be reading. While most readers are silent, some would appreciate non-censorship of personal opinions because of disagreement by the moderator/s. As long as there is no profanity, or tasteless use of it, subject matter should not be restricted. But then, that's just my Constitutionally protected God given right of expressing my honest opinion. No offense intended.Thank you Hope and I take your message to heart.Toke.

From Toker00 #45“Bush and all these other puppet politicians will do whatever the international bankers, globalists, Bilderbergers, Gates, and the other few Elites tell them to do. Hitler passed the exact same Fatherland legislation on his way to HIS attempt to establish the NWO. When it comes down to the bottom line we are not allowed to become a political web site. This web site and those hosted by DrugSense must follow the rules. They have a tax exempt status for drug policy issues not politics. As I have said I don't get money but DrugSense receives money and it could cause problems for them. When marijuana and Obama are in an article that is ok because it is about drug policy.

Stealth and Politics and other stuff...
Stealth. Wariness. Care. Caution. You've got to watch where you put your public feet. People are laying explosive land mines of policy and culture, for some politicians more than others. Stealth. Wariness. Care. Caution. We all know about these necessary things.Yet... I keep thinking , "Don't get fooled again."I did vote for Clinton and sent him money. "Don't get fooled again."He really was a great disappointment to me.Duped. I was duped. I felt duped. Betrayed. Let down. Horrible. Angry. It's not a good feeling. Meanwhile, people are suffering and dying unnecessarily, and because of bad government policy. I'm taking this feeling of betrayal personally. What good does it do to scream about it and get pissed off?We can use Ron Paul to point out how popular even a Republican candidate can be when they advocate an end to the war on cannabis. That ought to be a slap in the face for any Democrat to wake the hell up and end this war on cannabis NOW.Anybody that's posted here for any amount of time and paid attention knows that some things really bother FoM, and all of us need to forget our own selfish motives and stop doing things that make our great friend (and mother hen, in the most loving way LOL) upset.I know none of us want to intentionally hurt those that we love, so try to understand what I'm saying, and let's check our pride at the door.I agree with you Truth and Toker00, so all you're doing is preaching to the choir. I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound…
Everybody look what's going down..What a field day for the heat…Hey everybody look what’s going on HERE.Voicing opinions on a public forum doesn’t seem to me like forcing someone’s will on another.Discussion is healthy it seems to me.Look at what politics have done to the world. And now that virus is infiltrating here, when we all know not to let it get under our skin.Leo’s, Drug Czar people, and other prohibitionists are reading this site too. How can we win hearts and minds when healthy discussion turns into arguments and we appear as they do?Let us not bicker here amongst ourselves. Disagree, yes, however belittlement and copping attitudes will get us nowhere.Politics…Yeah, I have a feeling no matter who takes the throne at the White House, it still going to be the ‘battle of evermore’ in order to get these upside laws revised. But it will happen, it’s a matter of time. Even if George W. were to hold another term, our progress would still happen. This is something that will not be stopped, hindered maybe, but not stopped.I had faith in several past presidents that once they took office change will happen because of their leadership. I’m still waiting. Been waiting since Carter. Bush said it should be states rights, look what happened.Clinton didn’t inhale, look what happened.I will not believe or put blind faith behind someone, give them a chance maybe, but blind faith NO, especially a politician. Actions speak volumes, words from these people are appeasement at best. What is it we hear, and what is it we see? In the end it seems they all bow to the status quo, or make ‘adjustments’. So I will not hold my breath and wait for them to come to the rescue. They have to be shamed into it.Battle lines are being drawn. In the meantime let’s not let the status quo of politics divide us here.************What's that sound – Buffalo Springfeildhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlssjxbrATI

And no, I'm not a Nazi and will in no way support a "nazi" government. Get a grip man.Plus, we are not idiots here. I know all too well about our loss of freedoms and rights. Especially under this administration and the influence of PNAC and the neocons. Yes, many of their tactics are just as the Nazi party used to garner support. Yes, PNAC plans a New World Order. Yes, shame on anyone who voted this bunch into office, twice!Yes, we understand this. No, you and Ron Paul are not the only ones in the world with insight to the attack on our freedoms.Your fanaticism is counter productive. You don't convince people by harassing , lecturing down to and insulting them.I believe you ultimately do Ron Paul's campaign a disservice with your histrionics. No need to respond to me any further, thanks.

See? That's my whole point. There is a Nazification of America going on right now, in which some of you are participating in, and totally oblivious to. READ YOUR HISTORY. Bush and all these other puppet politicians will do whatever the international bankers, globalists, Bilderbergers, Gates, and the other few Elites tell them to do. Hitler passed the exact same Fatherland legislation on his way to HIS attempt to establish the NWO. Our Liberties are being taken and no matter what site you are posting at, that is BIG news! There is nothing I can say or do to prevent any of you from being suckered in again to a political "system" that is a no-win for the People and a win-win for those connected to it.Just for some who want to know. We had a town meeting here the other night to discuss the Trans-Texas Corridor that will run just left of Galveston and Houston. The people here put up a resistance that any who know what that means would be proud of. I hope when the New World Order comes to your town, politically correct or not, I hope you RESIST.Had Enough, I lost my best friend on Dec. 28th. The whole is very deep and very wide. Thanks for all the scratches behind the ear for him, bro. Thank you.Toke.

Please show respect for FoM
Truth, Toker, and other Ron Paulites/Libertarians:As a former Libertarian, I know that nobody gets more full of themselves than a Libertarian preaching about his or her rights.Yes, you have free speech. You make speak freely in your homes, and in public streets and commons. You may NOT come into my house and try to practice free speech. You may not preach at me, rant at me, or prattle on about the beliefs you so fervently want me to share.
If you do, you'll find yourself ejected, probably rudely. This page belongs to FoM, it's her space. Her house, if you will. Her "landlord" is DrugSense, and she is a respectful tenant. If someone invites you into their place, you abide by their rules. You don't tell them their rules don't make sense to you, or that they're applying them inconsistently, and hence you can do whatever the hell you want. You either follow their rules, or you LEAVE.I would think that libertarians, of all people, would respect someone else's property. They wouldn't glom on to it, try to claim some right of use or ownership, just because the real owner is nice enough to share with everyone. That's just the sort of thing that libertarians are always accusing liberals of, funny enough. If you want to say whatever you want, however you want, whenever you want...START YOUR OWN WEBPAGE. It's cheap and easy. If you do a good job, you'll find your own audience and start your own group conversation. If not, you can always come back here, if you'll just PLAY BY THE RULES.Hear endeth my rant.Joe Citizen

political campaigns
I think any candidate that, at this point in the election, say they will immediately make currently prohibited drugs immediately legal , will have no chance whatsoever of being elected.Regardless of the fact that Ron Paul has whipped a minority group of supporters into action over these positions, in the bigger picture of a nationwide election, the opposition would crank up the 30 sec attack ads and eat that candidate alive.I think it would be political suicide for Obama or any other candidate to stand up at this time and say, "Yea folks, I'm going to legalize pot when you elect me. It will not get that candidate elected. The prohibitionists, intolerant, holy rolling, fear of the bogeyman citizens would come out of the wood work to 'protect the fabric of our society".I think the way for legalization or decriminalization to happen is to get a progressive legislature in place, a progressive President in place and then when they have garnered public support with all of the good things they do over the course of their term bring out drug law reform. Not to diminish the importance of fixing this tremendous problem (WOD) but, I do not believe hanging a Presidential campaign on it is going to win an election in this country.I think we need to put someone in office with the right ideals and philosophies and then work them on the issue when they do not have to defend their job interview (campaign) against the opposing party(who happen to largely be rapid prohibitionists.)sorry to ramble, hope this makes sense.

Truth
You are right, Truth. And it happens all the time. Many of us don't post here any more because we support Ron Paul, who just happens to be a Republican, a REAL Republican and since Bush has done such damage to the party, ALL Republicans are demonized here at C-News. Just like all the 9-11 Truthers. There were powerful Truths being brought here and shared among those who claimed to be Truth seekers in ALL things, not just Cannabis. Now, only hand picked Truth by FoM and a couple others are allowed. There is no doubt in my mind C-News is sinking in the statistics. A site that was the first place I came in the morning and the last place I came at night. Why? Because we were allowed to speak the Whole Truth. Now, only certain Truths can be spoken here, and only if they are approved by FoM. You see FoM, this site was much more than just a Cannabis site. It was a CANNABIST'S site. People who love Cannabis also love the Truth in all things, normally. You have been doing this site for ten years and only now, when you have become somewhat involved and somewhat educated about politics, do you come up with this danger to the non-profit org. that runs it. So now only Cannabis and Obama Truth are allowed? If you would only educate yourself about the Constitution and what it actually says and stands for, you would also allow ALL other Truths to be spoken here, whether you understand them, or not. What, exactly, since this is an example of sticking to the CAUSE, did the two videos you posted about obama and yes we can have to do with Cannabis? Did I miss a verse or a statement obout Cannabis Liberation? Sorry if I did.Ron Paul, and this is NOT a political statement but a Truth statement, is the ONLY "politician" who is speaking TRUTH. The only issue you seem to have, FoM, against him is his stand on abortion. Killing is wrong, no matter when it happens. Killing for selfish reasons is the most dreadful killing. It's no different than killing for Property. Abortion out of convenience is not only selfish, it is wrong. Abortion to save a Mother or child's life in danger is not. Abortion to expel a rape pregnancy is not. Everyone has their reason to support or oppose abortion and they are entitled to it. If you support Liberty for ALL, if you support what all of our vets have given their lives to defend, if you want the Crooks out of Washington and the government out of your private lives, if you want to be Proud to be an American, if you want to heal the damage done instead of continuing to selfishly Kill for Empire, then there is only ONE vote that will get it. That is a vote for Liberty and a vote for Ron Paul. It is sad to see some of you C-Newsers sounding like Good Germans. It really is.Peace and I still Love you all,Toke.

you posted the same message in another thread, Truth.http://cannabisnews.com/news/23/thread23693.shtmlNO spammingandWe reserve the right to revoke registrations and/or remove any of message for any reason!are among the things you agreed to for the privilege of posting on this site.Freedom of speech doesn't mean the right to come into someone else's home or business and constantly scream "Ron Paul!" at everybody there.I like Ron Paul. I have voted Libertarian for President several times in my life. I did so in 2004, in fact. Michael Badnarik was an even better candidate than Ron Paul. Badnarik understood all the cannabis issues better than any candidate I've ever heard, and he would have not only legalized cannabis and ended the war in Iraq, but was pro choice to boot. He got NO media coverage and only 1% of the vote. So, I understand your frustration. But FoM and this board are not the enemy!I think it's important not to let emotion make you lose perspective. You end up being counterproductive to your cause. You can even forget who your friends are.I, for one, thank FoM for her moderation here, and am glad that folks don't feel free to copy and paste right wing propaganda, that has nothing to do with cannabis and is put out by people who actually support prohibition, as is allowed in the politics section of some other cannabis boards.FoM talked about Obama. The article this is posted on talked about Obama. Get a grip. It's one thing to believe in the Ron Paul dream, it's another to insist on the Ron Paul fantasy. Ron Paul has been able to spread libertarian ideas better that the Libertarian Party itself, but 4 or 5% still aint a majority.

When I think of what our country needs it needs less fighting and name calling and more compassion and acceptance. I believe we are our brother's keeper. I don't believe in survival of the fitest. I'm not sure to what degree children were seperated from parents in Nazi Germany. But I imagine the effects on those openly opposed to the Nazis were similar. Here, the justification for kidnapping the children of marijuana consumers is the adult "addiction" to the evil, "illegal drug" makes the parent unfit.Just another horror inflicted by marijuana prohibition.

Yes. I have hope for Obama as well, though it may not be supported by the facts. I'm sure much of the problem is that he is a politician. He likely feels supporting ending marijuana prohibition would make him vulnerable and cost him too much support. The big question is how much will political considerations influence him AFTER being elected.I agree that being an open supporter of drug law change can be harder for people with children, but for different reasons. The example of alcohol regulation is a good one. Refraining from throwing adult consumers of alcohol in prison is not an encouragement for children to drink alcohol. Children understand very well that many behaviors are only for adults. Drinking, driving, voting, and yes, consuming marijuana. The greatest pressure on parents for not being open about supporting marijuana reform is when they are currently marijuana consumers. That's because openly supporting marijuana reform makes you an instant target by law enforcement. Parents (and their children) suffer the most from a marijuana arrest is it can often lead to the kidnapping of your children by the state.

I understand. The way I look at people in general would take in Obama as well. His honesty about his drug use in his book says a lot to me. Doing drugs then quitting drugs and then demonizing drugs is wrong and doesn't show me a person with character. Obama said something about leveling out his heart. I'm not good at exact words because I didn't read his books yet. When people have children it can be harder to be for drug law change. No one wants to give a child an excuse to do what mommy or daddy did but honesty is a good beginning. It's good for families and for society.

I was not commenting on anyone's voting styles but mine.To me, Obama is the lesser of the evils of the front-running candidates. I say he is the lesser of the evils because he stated he would not have the Justice Department prosecute medical marijuana users. ( http://www.norml.com/index.cfm?Group_ID=7462 ) But that's as far as it goes. He has not openly supported ending marijuana prohibition. So, it seems he's okay with continuing to arrest 800,000 innocent Americans every year. Still, his position is not as bad as the rest of the candidates. That is why, to me, he is the lesser of the evils.

Don't treat FoM in such a disrespectful manner. She moderates this site in a dedicated and professional way and has done a tremendous amount of good for our cause. Your comments display a lack of respect what she has done here with cannabisnews. There are plenty of places for you to exercise your free speech to post things that FoM does not want posted here. These are not difficult guidelines to abide by. Everyone here knows who your choice for President is. Do you really think harassment is going to make someone change their mind in your favor? You might find that changing your approach will sometimes improve your degree of success and the persuasiveness of your positions.

Group terms pot bust persecution of terminally ill man
Posted on Feb. 17
By NICK GEVOCK of the Montana Standard
DILLON - The large-scale marijuana bust that law officers here touted as a major success this month was instead the persecution of a terminally ill man who needed the drug to help ease his suffering, a pro-medical marijuana group said Friday.Patients and Families United, based in Helena, blasted the bust and said it would not stand up in court thanks to Montana’s Medical Marijuana Law passed three years ago. And they criticized law officers for making a terminally ill man’s last days miserable because of the worry that he would end up in prison.“It amounts to persecution of somebody who’s already so overburdened with a medical condition that no one should have,” said Tom Daubert, founder and director of PFU. “That’s the purpose of our law, to have some relief for somebody who wants to be left alone.”Daubert said his group will step up to help with the legal defense for the man, whose name has not been released by officials.Law officers from Beaverhead County and the Southwest Montana Drug Task Force last week were trumpeting the seizure of 96 marijuana plants from a mobile home north of Dillon. They said the sophisticated growing operation was meant to keep a steady supply of marijuana coming, with plants at all stages of development.
