Intrusion of Reality Ruins Good Campaign Stop

New Hampshire -- Don’t you hate it when reality comes barging into your ideological Neverland and mucks everything up? That’s what happened to Mitt Romney last weekend. At a campaign stop in Dover, NH on Saturday, the Mittster found himself confronted by Clayton Holton, an 80-pound man stricken with muscular dystrophy who says he is “living proof medical marijuana works.” Romney wasn’t having any of it.“I am completely against legalizing it for everyone,” Holton says, “but there is medical purposes for it.”
In an exquisite moneyshot of condescension worthy of Bill “Let’s Go to the Tape” Frist, Dr. Romney tells Holton that he should just use synthetic marijuana or some other painkiller (Oxy Contin maybe?), but Holton says he can’t, that stuff makes him sick. While Holton starts rattling off all the prescription drugs he’s tried, you can actually see Romney clenching his jaw, rocking slightly, his lips moving as though invoking some obscure incantation to ward off this obvious Satanist sitting in front of him. He’s sensing the trap, as well as the battery of cameras forming around him, so he tries to brush the guy off. “I have muscular dystrophy,” Holton concludes.“I’m sorry to hear that, I really am,” Romney brusquely says as he turns to walk away.“My question for you,” says Holton, “is will you arrest me or my doctors if I get medical marijuana?”“I am not in favor of medical marijuana being legal in the country,” Romney says. He turns to an old man sitting nearby. “Hi, how are you?”“Excuse me, will you please answer my question?”“I think I have. I am not in favor of legalizing medical marijuana.”This isn’t the first time a Republican candidate has been cornered like this. In fact, Fred Thompson got the same treatment from Holton—a volunteer with Granite Staters for Medical Marijuana. Only when Fancy Fred got the question, he was at least able to respond like a human being—a slightly fogged-over human being—but nonetheless, a human being.“Well, we’ll have to look into that,” Thompson said. “I’m not prepared to tell you ultimately. I can’t imagine what you’re having to go through and what your needs are, and I really can’t address that right now. But, I’ll be glad to sit down and talk with you sometime about it.”My guess is Holton’s tactics will be far more effective in the general election than in the primary. The only hardcore Republicans likely to be moved by them are those who have seen, firsthand, medical marijuana alleviate the suffering of a loved one, and they’re already sold. The rest of the base—at least, it seems, by Romney’s reckoning—will likely see a rude little prick with a ponytail and smart mouth and think: godless pinko hophead. Sure this drug may temporarily help his body, they’ll cry, falling to the floor with their Bibles and thrashing about in slicks of consecrated holy oils. But what of his soul?Complete Title: Intrusion of Reality Ruins Perfectly Good Campaign StopVideo of Romney and Holton: http://tinyurl.com/234kflSource: Boston Magazine (MA)Published: October 8, 2007Copyright: 2007 Boston MagazineContact: editor bostonmagazine.comWebsite: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/Related Article:McCain Should Know The Truth About Marijuanahttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread23387.shtml

arrest (jail) vs 'legalise'
“My question for you,” says Holton, “is will you arrest me or my doctors if I get medical marijuana?”“I am not in favor of medical marijuana being legal in the country,” Romney says. He turns to an old man sitting nearby. “Hi, how are you?”“Excuse me, will you please answer my question?”“I think I have. I am not in favor of legalizing medical marijuana.”
Notice how the wary politician won't remind his victims (the public) he wants to ARREST Granny and put her in JAIL for relieving her pain with cannabis. No, that wouldn't go down so well with people. Better for the really shrewd politician to tilt against a term like "legalize marijuana." And so the politician was an agile plotter, figuring along these lines: "Everyone can be against 'legalizing marijuana', right? Only those moonbat dirty doper hippies could possibly want to 'legalize', right?" Yeah, that's the ticket. Better not to remind people of tossing their grandmothers into jail. That's too concrete, too harsh. Instead, best to rail against that evil (and nicely abstract) "legalizing marijuana".

Gov. Mitt Romney on medical marijuana
I couldn't help using the picture to expose the hypocrisy of this piece of fascist leadership. Btw, Romney is, unfortunately, the fascist governor of my present home-state.

Please don't think I am trying to acknowledge that there is no God. God is self evident. But no one knows Him. We are not suppose to know him, we are suppose to Live Him. Truth. Honor. Courage. THC. Bruce Springsteens gift to the dead and injured...
soldiers, their families, on 'both' sides, whatever that means, and the People of Planet Earth, Murkans' in particular! Prepare for this to get censored, and Rush Limp-jaws going after him like they did Moveon, as it seems this could be most powerful video of our times, I do believe.Note: The State Departments' private Christiannized Army, Blackwater are not considered soldiers, but mercenaries, as represented by the guy with the death mask and Murkan' flag.
I'm not sure if they're included in the death toll.
see link below for detailsThis is the best yet, as noone has seen most of these images, and the pain hits home as the numbers rise, and brings it back home, the only thing missing are the names.
Which would be too much, but what is needed for people to face the horror of what we've done.Great song, great video, Bruce has picked up where Neil Young, the Dixie Chicks, Pink, John Lennon, Woody Guthrie, U-2, and many more have left off, and rightly so.I think you'll agree, this is so needed, and someone finally did it!

True that the cameras are rolling now and catching these evil people red handed. Most Republicans are fueled by hatred, dispecable people. What I fear is their dirty tricks at the voting booths, in the news media and in the state governments.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDnWT4gCJSE

I agree. This is going to show the country how coldhearted and owned by corporations these bastards are! This will give the voters just one more reason to kick the repubs out. That man in the wheelchair was sick and pleading with Romney to protect him. Romney denied him a basic right and he turned his back on him and will allow him to be arrested for self medicating. I read somewhere where he tried to introduce a Bill that was taking it further then a state's right issue. I found it.Excerpt: Dr. Paul is a fierce critic of abortion. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, he has delivered more than 4,000 babies. In 2005, he introduced legislation legislation that for federal purposes defined "human life...to exist from conception." The bill, H.R. 776, would also have removed the Supreme Court's jurisdiction over abortion, nullifying the Roe v Wade decision, and pulled the plug on funding for abortion providers. http://dowblog.blogspot.com/2007/05/more-on-ron-paul.html

Regarding Ron Paul his stance on abortion is the same as it is on medical marijuana. He wants to leave it up to the states. I imagine that he will have to be consistent in that you can't pick and choose which issues should be up to the states and which is not. That being said I am not committing myself to Ron Paul or any other candidate at this time. I will make my decision sometime next year.

I think that 2008 is going to be very intense. It's just time to give the other Party a chance. After 8 years of this administration I can't imagine people voting for a Republican. I don't know why Ron Paul is a Republican except maybe because of his abortion stance and that is offensive to most women and I'm a woman so I am offended. I am against abortion but I don't want to make a woman a criminal if she feels she needs one. Pro choice doesn't mean pro abortion but they don't seem to understand that very well.

I don't believe that a republican has a chance to get elected next year after what Bush/Cheney have done to our country and constitution. But...in the event a republican does get elected I hope that it is either Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, or Tommy Thompson who have all vowed to stop the federal prosecution of medical marijuana patients. The rest of the republicans will continue to arrest medical marijuana users.2008 is going to be a great year. Once the federal raids end you will see many more states pass legislation allowing medical marijuana.
