WILLOWS, Calif. Two Modesto men were arrested after authorities discovered more than 2,000 marijuana plants during a raid of an alleged growing operation in Mendocino National Forest.
Rafael Castillo Flores, 29, and Jesus Magana Zabala, 22, were arrested about 5:30 a.m. Monday by federal and Glenn County Sheriff's officials. The men, both Mexican nationals, were booked on drug cultivation and possession charges. Authorities found 2,684 plants on Harden Ridge, about 50 miles northwest of Willows. The plants would have been worth an estimated $2 million had they survived and been harvested, sheriff's officials said. Tuesday, August 3, 1999
