Where do you suppose the likes of Jim McDonough, Bill McCollum and Betty Sembler get the brass cahonas to question God's wisdom in allowing cannabis to grow in this world? If cannabis is such a lethal threat that it's worth risking the eradication of our food crops, how come Jesus didn't warn us about it?
Was he unaware of it's existence? No, cannabis was a familiar crop in the middle east in his day. Maybe he just wasn't blessed with the wisdom and awareness that God chose bestow on this happy band of Drug Warriors? Hey... wait a minute, I thought God was omnicient. Sounds a lot like blasphemy to me, so that can't be it. What could George Washington possibly have been thinking of when he said "Take the hemp seed and sow it everywhere!" He must have been too stoned to know what he was saying. Marijuana has been with us literally since the dawn of human civilization. If you'll recall, we've managed some pretty amazing things in the mean time. Columbus crossed the Atlantic with hempen sails and rope. The Declaration of Independence was drafted on hemp paper. And the webbing of the parachute that saved former president George Bush's tush in WWII was spun from it. The problem is not the existence of a particular plant. The problem is the patently insane lengths to which some of our elected leaders and pillars of our community are willing to go in pursuit of some unattainable, drug free Utopia. These people are unbalanced. Those in office should be removed post haste!
