Research Indicates Possible Benefits of Marijuana

Illinois -- With certain research indicating possible benefits of marijuana, many believe Illinois should be one of the next states to legalize it for medicinal purposes. There are currently 11 states that allow doctors to prescribe the use of medical marijuana, however the protection for those patients isn't necessarily guaranteed. According to David Ostrow, director of Ostrow and Associates and founder of the Medical Marijuana Policy Advocacy Project, Federal law makes no distinction between those that use marijuana for medical purposes and those who do not.
In other words, while it is legal to prescribe it, the government may not necessarily protect a patient while they are using it. Patients possessing marijuana can be sentenced up to a year in jail, while patients who are cultivating their own medical marijuana can be sentenced up to five years. Gregory Halperin a doctor at the Gailey Eye Clinic said he believes the best application for medical marijuana would be in its use with the terminally ill and cancer patients in relieving pain. "Each of the different drugs and pain killers, both legal and not legal, act in different ways," Halperin said, "The advantage of a compound like THC is that it does not only affect the pain receptors but helps the mood as well."Ostrow said he believes that medical marijuana has many benefits for diseases such as HIV, diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis. The MMPAP looks to protect patients legally using medical marijuana as well as eliminating obstacles to medical marijuana's further development. They do so by supporting their beliefs with scientific evidence that medical marijuana actually can help patients. THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main drug in marijuana. According to Halperin, the benefit it adds beyond the pain killing is significant in terminally ill patients who could see a mood improvement as a helpful increase in their quality of life. That is something that other more traditional painkillers, such as Vicodin or Morphine, cannot provide. While Halperin said he does not think that marijuana could be used in a small enough dosage to be practically applicable to the eyes, he did not oppose its use in other areas."I am not against other practitioners prescribing it if they felt it was appropriate on a case-by-case basis," Halpernin said. Prescribing marijuana is not something that doctors in Illinois currently have to worry about. However, according to Ostrow, the Senate Public Health Committee is exploring the possibility that medical marijuana could be legalized in the near future.Complete Title: Research Indicates Possible Benefits of Marijuana, Possible PenaltySource: Daily Vidette (IL Edu)Author: Eric MillsPublished: March 26, 2007Copyright: 2007 Daily VidetteContact: vidette ilstu.eduWebsite: http://www.dailyvidette.com/Related Articles:Senate Pending Marijuana Drug Billhttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread22735.shtmlMedical Marijuana Bill Passes Committeehttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread22718.shtml

When Illinois comes on board that will be another 12,763,371 people and 21 electoral votes in the medical cannabis states group.

E_Johnson-very astute observation
Very good, the fact that endocannabinoids help to bury and hide past traumas ie: forbidding the use during festivals of remembrance to allow reflection, etc.Just keep in mind, research has indicated that for people that have personal trauma and pent up anxiety, the proper way to dose is to 1) be substance free, 2) do a bunch of talk/interaction therapizing, to bring that bad memory (like ritual child sex abuse, endemic in an entire drug war vicious anti-lock em up for good state, like way down in Texas) on screen, vividly, until the person just can't take no more, tears of realization and trauma and panic welling up big time, then 3) dose up with a little weed & 4) "adrenaline" etched supermemory loses it's hold on those brain cells, and the horror is lessened, 5) as I've read, an entire year's worth of therapy benefits, all in "about an hour".Too bad we have the worst possible situation, in the worst possible endemic population, I mean, a horrible vicious and cruel war, in a horrible and vicious place, Iraq, for bad purpose, with bad botched "management" and just repeated tweaking of age-old hatreds that have never, ever been allowed to heal, that fester up like boils in Baghdad, and two endemic tribal religious hatred monging "sects", and our military dead set against cannabis.I mean, we could bomb em with bombers, thick, juicy hand rolled numbers, with instructions, in various languages, 1) sit down where you are, 2) talk as much as you can about past revenge thoughts, 3) get it verbalized, 4) but before the guns go off, 5) light that bomber, 6) don't bogart, man (I hope they have a word for "bogart" over there), 7) get those table clothes off the head, and take off your helmet, man, 8) and just keep talking, 9) at least until more bombers fall, eh?Music helps, also, and by the way, it is really nice to watch TV with the sound off, and good old wood guitar playing away in the speakers, eh?Hey, maybe Congress could use a little bombing, also. Worth a shot? (Please note that I am a passive individual, and all of my references to "bombing" refer to reefer, not the napalm types, if you get my drift here). Hey, lets try something different to stop these war mongers.By the way, at least the Israelis know about THC. They have been using it in the defense forces since 2004, for "combat fatigue" and "shell-shock", you know. PAUL PETERSON

Oh, mayan, that is really good-thanks
Stuff like this almost NEVER comes out at the right time. I mean, if the FBI hadn't totally fudged their botched use of the ol'Patriot Act thingy, and the Bushies hadn't fudged the handling of their fudged firing of those 8 seasoned US Attorneys, most of which were handling political footballs already, and the Iraq war hadn't been fudged from the get-go, what with that fudgy figgy yellow layer cake (that is like three layers thick by now, what with a major "p-e-r-j-u-r-y" thingy making for some really creamy filling that just melts in your mouth, not in your hands, (like it did for Scooter, of course), and the frosty um, um good, from that "p-a-r-d-o-n" causing the Dems to just salivate all over the leather, already, and now subpoenas in the air, and now (part II) Congress taking away the FBI's cake pans, and taking away DOJ's second string replacement options (without consulting with the new quarterbacks in Congress),
I believe Gonzales might have survived that sex string scandal way down in Texas. But when you throw in a little powdered sugar, from the border agents being jailed by DOJ action (which just tweaks the noses of those conservative wetback haters) that broke the lineblockers right in two (they call that a scissor-play) and then that "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" case just gave us a "hail Mary" pass already up in the air, what with the Religious Righteous already being on-board and squarely planted in coach class with us already, and then we have this Catholic pop-up pediaphile preast pogram on-screen for the in-flight movie, and a really nice cameo by that haggard Jimbo Haggerd guy with the really big, big smile, just like Carey did in that big, big green mask thingy, not to mention the TV land bits coming on really nice like with Gonzo being joked about as "it depends on the definition of involved", which tweaked the fond memory of Clinton with that definition of "is" and "sex" thing to reprise us right back to Ken Starr land (hey, isn't he working the concession stand in the Bong Hits case?), I'm thinking we COULD NOT HAVE SEEN A BETTER TIME FOR A LITTLE LATE NIGHT MUNCHIES FODDER WITH THAT MULTI-LAYER "wake-em up for the party" line, eh?Um, Um, Good, I just can't wait for Gonzo to catch that football, right in time for Jay Leno to do the final line, and send another drug war anti right back from where he came from, and put it where the sun don't shine, boys.(Now mind you, I don't like even the thought of sex abuse being visited upon any person, but recall, those DOJ boys said it was consensual, and there were no scars, right?)How crass can real live USA home team lawyer boys get, anyway? And we thought those beauty queens were getting the worst camera angle possible, eh?That, in fact, is what a Chicago DOJ lawyer did to me a few years ago, weaseled out of prosecuting the Illinois Supreme Court, by stating, in a letter, (oddly reminiscent of the letter noted herein, no crime, since the lost boys liked it) that no federal crime was committed. Hey, maybe with all this scrutiny, I should call again on the local DOJ boys. I think I will. Um, um, good, I can almost smell the dough arising in the oven right now. Thanks for the heads up on this one right now, mayan. PAUL PETERSON, Somewhere North of Texas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashrutlot of stuff, here ...I agree about refrigeration, but why are some other meats OK sans refrigeration? The answer seems to be that it is hard to drain the pig carcass of it's juices and the salt when curing, so I surmise it evolved to "don't do it."Many things we do are steeped in tradition, some are wrong, some are a good idea and some merely outdated and unneeded, the latter is best exemplified, in my view, by the Old Testament.

The Passover ban might even make sense
Cannabinoids suppress traumatic memories. But the whole purpose of Passover is to remember the trauma that the Jews suffered at the hands of their enslavers. So it is kind of appropriate to ban cannabis during this time, because otherwise people would be thinking about everything under the sun EXCEPT the suffering the Jews experienced in bondage.

Dankhank -- the humanity and wisdom of kosher law
Wisdom:These laws developed before refirgeration. It's a wise thing to avoid shellfish and pork when you don't have a fridge.Humanity:Kosher animals must be slaughtered humanely, with a minimum of suffering. The Kosher label on meat lets you know the animals weren't tortured before they were killed. And it's regarded as inhumane to put cheese on a burger, because that would be equivalent to "boiling a lamb in its mother's milk" -- which was regarded by ancient Jews as a terrible thing to do that diminsihed the humanity of people who did it.

Cannabis
is like a pair of x-ray glasses. It helps you (notice I said HELPS you. First, YOU have to SEEK the TRUTH) see right through the stuff that comes out of a Bull's Butt. It helps you lift the lead veil behind which Evil lurks. It helps you see what isn't there and what is there that others don't see. But it is only a tool. Others see what we do, without a toke. Would they know even more if they toked? Cannabis removes the blinders put in place at birth and not meant to be removed until after DEAth. Cannabis says to you: "You Know."Toke.

What do they mean here? Boston's Mayor? Mass.'s Governor? Pretty bold site. Mayan, I hope to the Creator that 9-11 Truth has been exposed to the people who can stop this NWO. We can't. But we can support those who can. Who would they be? All military personnel, for sure, but who else? They know who they are and what they need to do. I feel like the people are almost irrelevant in this pissing contest, but someone is fighting the Elite. Too much info available too easily. It's like Truth is being planted around in obvious places and we, like Easter Egg hunters, are finding it. Toke.

We are not governed, we are ruled.
The Elite have created an illusion that has fooled us from Birth to the Grave for generations unknown. Their illusion has been so successful that all of Humanity has been fooled into thinking that our leaders always war to protect us. They war to keep our way of life alive. They war to protect us from evil. But the reality is, they war to steal each others property. It's a game that has gone on and on, until now, the stakes are so high, Humanities existence hangs in the balance. Still they war among themselves, pushing each war and wondering to themselves: "Is this the one that ends the game?" The stakes have become so huge, fused and integrated that one of them winning is impossible. So they have agreed to consolidate their wealth, reduce their arsenals (Human Beings), destroy all the old obsolete nuclear weapons and control what's left of Humanity with their new, improved, safer (For THEM) Weapons of Mass Domination. WHAT THEY HAVE INVISIONED ALL ALONG. If we ALLOW them to succeed, because far more than enough people now know what their plan is and should be exposing it, then we indeed HAVE allowed them to succeed. We have to cut the wire. We have to pick the safe. We have to flip the switch. We have to snuff the fuse. We have to hack the program. We have to stop them.Toke.

In reform homes, it's not quite so stringent. But kosher is not kept at other times, either, unless the family chooses. Generally the observance would be to abstain from leavened bread or products containing yeast for eight days.Conservative and orthodox observance is stricter, of course.

About Pessah
This is the most important festival for jews, which is celebrated over eight days, in the month of Nisan. During this festival the jews commemorate the escape of their forebears from Egypt in 13 century BC. During the eight day festival, all forms of leaves are prohibited in the house. On the eve of the festival, a thorough search is made to rid the house of the smallest morsel of yeast. If any is found, it is kept aside & burnt the following morning.http://www.kalnirnay.com/festival/Indianfestival/Jewfestival/jew.htm

Hey, we can't help it if murderers smoke cannabis too, right? Cannabis is like Truth. It presents itself as a stumbling block for those who use it undeservedly or blasphemously, just as Truth will do for those who lie in the name of Righteousness. Maybe it was Cannabis that kept his demons at bay. We need more details. Did he stop using cannabis and start using or increase the use of other substances? What about alcohol?
