Pot Draws More Votes Than Commissioners

Eagle County, CO -- If the rest of Colorado voted like Eagle County, marijuana would be legal. If the rest of the state voted like Eagle County, an amendment to define “marriage” as only between one man and one woman would have failed, and another ballot issue to create “domestic partnerships” between same-sex couples would have passed.
If the rest of the state voted like Eagle County did, Democrats would be waiting to take the oath of office for two elected jobs won by Republicans. But mostly, marijuana would have been legalized.Only a statewide school spending ballot issue and the governor’s race got more total votes than the marijuana initiative, and only three local races even made the list of the top 10 issues and races receiving votes.A total of 12,754 people voted in the three-way race for Eagle County commissioner, 67 less than the number who voted for a proposed tax increase to pay for early childhood programs. The marijuana-legalization measure drew 12,913 votes.Looking at the numbers of ballots cast, people seemed to vote in the biggest numbers for state ballot issues. On Election Day, a few people said they were voting primarily on big-picture issues, and hadn’t really put much research into the local ballots.Others who voted the full ballot mentioned state issues as the things most important to them in the voting booths. In Gypsum, Randy Belisle first mentioned Amendment 43 — which defined marriage as between a man and a woman — and Referendum I — which created “civil unions” for same-sex couples — when asked what drove him to the polls Tuesday. He voted yes on both issues.Another voter, David Collins, voted only in the sheriff’s race — for challenger Scott Griffin — and for marijuana legalization.“I don’t even smoke weed, but I think (Sheriff) Joe Hoy wasted a lot of money going after people who smoke weed,” Collins said. County Commissioner-elect Sara Fisher ran several elections while she was Eagle County Clerk and Recorder. She said the big vote totals for state issues “doesn’t surprise me, really.”“Sometimes people with passion vote on issues that have meaning to them,” Fisher said. “Someone who hasn’t followed local issues that closely will sometimes just vote for the issues important to them.”And sometimes relatively new voters just cast ballots.Sometimes it’s along party lines, which could explain the heavy vote for Democrats this year, an election when Democrats capitalized heavily on voter dissatisfaction with Republicans.Sometimes, people vote just to vote. “When I was clerk the coroner always got the most votes,” Fisher said. That happened this year. Coroner Kara Bettis, running unopposed, pulled the most votes of any local candidate. And, apparently, sometimes people vote for the right to light up.Note: The biggest draw for local voters was a state school spending question.Source: Vail Daily (CO)Author: Scott N. I'm now at my more normal cruising altitude. I've had a number of strains of some refinement that I cannot name at the moment, I've mentioned some in passing. There is no intention to conceal anything from you. When I am at an elevation only the birds may hear sometimes, I suppose.I don't really know what you're asking me to explain though, or I would try. Do you have a particular question about my metaphor?I have to say repeatedly that everything is metaphor to me because there are no words adequate to the understanding, like describing a rainbow to someone who has never seen one. And honestly, I think you've seen the same things in your time, and know more about them, but when you are deprived, then like me, you cannot see it at the moment and can't talk about or understand what is being discussed, because your eyes are closed. Here's what I will say to you, if you want to understand me, you should consider ending your personal purification from cannabis. There is never an end to struggle, but hopefully the effort becomes easier and less unpleasant with a bit of good herb to guide your way.

Yes, as our dear and absent Herbdoc
would probably say, were he here, that I'm "mother henning" you. Forgive me. I'm a natural earth mother...and I may seem more motherly than I should...as a sister...but I do worry over my friends, brothers and sisters, in this resistance. And if that worry comes out sounding like fussing and clucking...so be it.

Who are you, Whig?
I think you are a wonderful young man who is going to, and is, helping us move forward to end this terrible injustice we are fighting. There are people in cages tonight because they used cannabis...or wanted to. That's not right. There are more on there way to cages tomorrow and the next day. They are fed into a horrible machine...not unreminiscent of Soylent Green. It's wrong and we have to stop what's being done to people in the name of cannabis prohibition. God help us. We have to.

Whig...Darlin...and I mean that.
I'm having so much trouble understanding some of the things you say lately. I know you are "elevated" and I am not. But I usually have no problem understanding the elevated. You have such an exquisite vocabulary and ability to write and speak clearly...but you've left me behind several times lately.I have no idea what you are talking about in "done voting"....because I think you aren't talking about "voting" at all...perhaps that just means you have given your opinion. Trouble is, I've always enjoyed talking with you, and considering your thoughts and ideas, but you've run a lot of things so far over my head lately I can't grasp them. You need to be a little more specific with us "lowlanders" or less methaphorical or something...for my sake. I know you care a little about what I think. Apparently, I'm going to have to ask you to "talk down" a little to me because you're throwing "them there" methaphors higher and harder than I can reach...and I feel sad about that.At least explain what you mean to those of us with thicker skulls...me anyway. I'm not sure at all what you're talking about with your "voting" comments and it makes me feel left out...if everyone else is understanding it. I hope you don't get mad at me for saying this...or if you do...forgive me, please. But I care about you and your communication skills and my ability to understand what you are communicating. You have power...and I don't want you to inadvertently let that power diminish. Keep one foot on the ground to make sure those of us less elevated can understand what you are saying. Maybe try a different strain. It's only been in the last few weeks that I'm missing some of what you are communicating. But then again...I'm cannabinoid deprived and maybe I'm deteriorating in my ability to comprehend what anyone is saying. But maybe I need to be vaping and the same strain you are using to comprehend what's being said. I don't know...but I love it when you say things I can understand.:0(

End Times...
I think there are "End Times" for individuals and groups of people. We know that is true. I think when any of us is at our alloted half way point in life...we are living our end times...and each generation shall see their "End Times".When I think of the Branch Davidian fiasco...I think those people that were killed, and some not, suffered their "Tribulation" and their "End Time" there outside of Waco. I think they did and we all saw it...and it was terrible.I think many people saw their "End Time" in Vietnam and Germany and Cambodia and Korea and now Iraq...and so many other places. But that's just what I think, my theory...at this point in time.

Toker, comment 45. End times.
Revelations and some of the things Jesus spoke of where both speakig of the "end times".Matthew 24: 3-51 3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before. 26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Bless your heart. I won't yell at you. What He said was how things would be at the end ( Fall of Jerusalem ) which did happen. It also meant the end of time as we know it most people believe with a fundamentalist religious background. The Book of Revelation was written in about 96 AD by John who was banned to an island (Patmos I think ) and he wrote it during his imprisonment.

Are you saying someone asked Christ when all the things talked about in Revelations would happen and he told them? What did he tell them? I know he warned us about the things that would happen to Mankind with no allegiance to God, but are you saying He spoke about the book of Revelations and when it would come to past? I thought that book was written way after Christ died? I'm not ashamed to be confused, just don't yell at me. lol. In other words, did he specifically discuss Revelations with them?Toke.

Whig....I don't need to forgive you...
I'm not offended...but I'm a little worried about the way you word your ideas, sometimes. I know you are very high on God...and that's good. I know you are ok...but, sometimes, I fear that someone else, that didn't know a little about how you speak or trust in your mental strength, as I do, might think you were getting close to a psychotic break. That's one of the dangers of sharing mystical, spiritual, and religious thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Talking about mysteries is hard. Naturally. Being mysteries...who can prove it? My spiritual and mystical ideas and feelings took a long time to get to where they are. I have considered your idea about us all being a god, even before you mentioned it, I've heard this theory. It doesn't work for me.So, I guess, you'll have to forgive me for having some different spiritual ideas. One thing I know is, if you keep searching and growing and learning and experiencing the presence of God, you will find yourself, perhaps, with some more information about Him, than you have even now. It's definitely a growing thing. If you aren't growing in your relationship with the spiritual...than you aren't doing it...but I know you are. You will develop more thoughts about the spiritual realm as time passes. You have to...we all do.Even at our age difference, you definitely may outgrow me, even in less time…you may have already . I'm happy for you and I can learn from you, myself. But that one theory of yours, I will leave for you and other folks. It's just not for me. I sense it and, at this time, I know it.To me, there is One God. I in He and He in me. I don't want to be a god (or goddess), in any way shape, form….and I can never say or believe that I am a god. I don't even want to think of thinking that I might consider myself equal to Jehovah God in any way. I love him. I want Him. I need Him, but I am not He.On the other hand...I think I know what you are trying to say, when you say things like 'we are all gods or god' or something like that...maybe. I just know full well, that I am not one. I am in One. The One.

Well...I wasn't raised Catholic...
but I tend to agree with you, FoM.I know there is a lot of mystical type talk going on here...but I believe that you have to be careful about how you word your mystical talk. I am NOT Christ...but He dwells in me and counsels me. I don't like to even think that I am a Christ...because ....well what a bummer Christ I would make...I personally don't have that MUCH confidence in me...because to me...it would be a false confidence if I saw myself as a god. I find the thought revolting. I have seen some very disturbed people who believed they were Christ or....one case I saw...John the Baptist. Whatever world they were living in...I don't want to be in it...at all.I was raised to be a "proud" person. That didn't work for me. Confidence, yes. Pride, no. Pride is not good for me. To believe that I am a god would require me to discard humility. I truly believe God has more respect for the humble than for the proud. We have, may I say it, a cozy relationship. He in me and me in Him. But me...Him? No way. Even if I'm imagining all this religious stuff....I wouldn't want to imagine it that way. I find, definitely, no comfort in believing that I am some sort of god. It would require something other than humility to believe that.God has a personality...I know Him. He is not me...and I am not Him...but He definitely dwells in me and surrounds me, and I listen to Him. No, I dare not approach my Father and Brother believing I am them...no...they dwell in and with me though...and they are such good company. If that's crazy...then it's a delightful and reassuring "crazy" and I'm comfortable with it. (Although the "John the Baptist" I saw...seemed pretty pleased with himself and happy enough. Maybe he was John the Baptist...but he shouldn't have taken whatever tact he took to reveal that to people...because he was in an asylum.)I can't think of myself as a god. I'm a human. A very important role to be in. Even Lucifer, a powerful angelic being, was and is not a god (although some worship him as such)...he just wanted to and apparently believed that he should be god. If I were to think that...I would believe that I had been enticed and fallen to a spirit that rolled such a thought through my mind and spirit in the first place."He prowls through the world like a roaring lion...seeking who he may devour."

I want to say also that Jesus Christ died so that we wouldn't have to make the same sacrifice.

Revelations is written in a very pessimistic light. Christ was never a pessimist. He always pointed us toward the light and never said there was a chance of Good not prevailing. So, we still have a good chance of not entering the things that Revelations speak of. I believe Revelations are what could be if we don't heed Christ, or Truth. So many more people are in tune with what is happening in our world, so many more recruits for Truth. We'll be ok. I pray. But not if we keep our mouths shut, and the Truth unspoken.Toke.

I believe that we should always keep trying. If people of peace don't speak up then what is going to happen will happen much faster. I don't think we can stop prophecy but at least we might be able to slow it down and postpone it for a number of years.

Exactly. But here's the thing. We have the power to end the madness. It's as simple as saying Love, not War. It's as easy as thinking Buds, not Bombs. I don't care if people have nice things and kool property, as long as we can ALL have it. We should Tie Dye the Earth, not Radiate it. We should be responsible for co-operating with one another to help make a world where we all have freedom, comfort, safety and good health, not just the Elite. We can use the resources of this planet for FREE, if we would all just set down and eat at the same table, and realize that we are ALL in this existence together.Toke.

Not good at all. No one in the streets here saying No, either. Only those of us who have lifted the veils, seem to see this, but all will surely see it soon. War is just a game to the Elite, and we are just the Player's Pieces, and the Bank. None of us want to be responsible for the Horror and soul agonizing Terror of War. But we are. All of us. We have become so weak as a species, that this DISEASE of War, of Domination, is overcoming us all. Fed by an artery pumping Greed and Lust for Domination of God's Creation, directly from the heart of Satan, it spreads over us all. Pray that We be worthy to stand in these Dark days. Your only weapon will be Truth, for anything less is a Lie. Open your Eyes, then open your MOUTH! The Word cannot come from a closed mouth.Wage Peace on war. END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW!

I want to say that I don't think what's happening in the middle east is anything other then what I always felt would happen no matter who is running the show. We never should have helped Israel when we did but we did so we now will be involved. Hopefully when it all starts to happen we will not be effected by the radiation or at least not enough to kill everyone. I consider this confrontation a religious issue that has festered since practically the beginning of time actually. It's just inevitable. It's about the Jews and Muslims and which ones God is the right God. How can we fight that mentality?

That's kool, whig.
But let me remind you, Christ prepared his Life for Death. I'm not being fatalistic, just realizing what ultimate sacrifice, like Christ's, can come to. You sound much happier where you are, and I am glad for you.Toke.

Olmert is now here in the U.S. discussing Iran. Meanwhile, Iran says it will retaliate immediately if attacked. It doesn't look good. This is not good at all. I doubt if this is a wargame...US aircraft carriers USS Eisenhower and USS Enterprise in the Red Sea off the Saudi Arabian coast:
http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=3452From the above linked article...DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the USS Eisenhower is at sea off the Saudi Arabian coast, together with another aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. The presence of the two US aircraft carriers, and their accompanying strike groups, in a body of water as small as the Red Sea is an extraordinary development. So far there have been no indications that the USS Eisenhower arrived to replace the USS Enterprise. The carrier Iwo Jima is already over there and a fourth carrier will be in the region very shortly. We need to start NOW.
It took less time than I thought to see what the Dems were made of. Surprise! It's the same stinky, slimy, puky, shitty stuff that the Reps. are made of! Israel and the US will attack Iran during the Christmas holidays and re-gain a lot of their Christian support. There will be a massive put-down of 911 Truth at this time by the release of a photo-shopped 757 hitting the Satangon. More UNREALity clips of Bozo-Laden. If, as they claim, the DNA of all the (so-called) passengers at the Devilgon was identified, then why were there no Arabic names on the ID list? Seems those remains would be scrambled. Yet no DNA of an Arabic passenger. I guess the plane was flying so low, they were able to bail out at the last minute, and hitch a ride with the Dancing Israelis. It seems to me that every time the American people get close to catching a glimpse of their own reality, and the fact that they are and have always been sheep to be herded, the Government comes up with a War to mix up that perspective. They war in Our names, but their wars take away Our Wealth, Our Children, Our Rights. It is more a war on us, than our enemies. Especially since they Create most, if not all, of the Enemies. Please, please remember this. It's not the Dems, or the Reps, or any other Puppetical Party. It's the Elite. They have always disregarded our wishes for Peace and Prosperity for All. They cannot stand the thought of being "equal" to us. Even when one of their own gets too small, they ponce and devour. We are not being Governed, we are being Controlled. We are not being Educated, we are being Brainwashed. We are not being Protected by the War on Terror, we are being Attacked. We need a grass-roots Leader. Someone not in Puppetics, and not afraid to DIE for Truth. Because, if we do what we are supposed to, we may ALL have to lay it down. It's hard to trust anyone, when no one can be trusted.I love you guys, and I Truly Believe we will witness a final showdown between the Elite and the Equal. Let's get all of us on the same page, and get PreparedWage Peace on war. END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW!

Election?
What does this election really mean (LTE)http://www.summitdaily.com/article/20061111/LETTER/111110060This election was nothing more than a changing of the squad, and that's all. Now the Democrat/offense is on the field. The American people, we the other team, still have no clue.Pelosi and crew are President Bush's best friend. She will not proceed with impeachment, nor will she push for the repeal of the Patriot Acts, or the Military Commissions Act of 2006, or the Defense Authorization Act of 2007, all of which are aimed directly at the American people under the guise of fighting Terrorism. Those laws will all remain in place under the Democrats. They are all gains for the elitist team, the "Republocrat" Global Elitist team. If you think things are better or worse today than they were a month ago, then you don't get it. It will be business as usual.Think football. The Democrats are the offense. They use the BATF to take guns and terrorize those who claim their Constitutional 2nd Amendment protection to keep them. All the while the Republicans, and the NRA compromise and watch from the side lines. Then at fourth down, election year, the defense, the Republicans, comes in every two, four or six years, and hold us by deflection on the international front, with foreign wars and intrigues, all the while passing restrictive laws that have destroyed Habeus Corpus and virtually gutted the First Amendment, and the entire Bill of Rights. These are the laws mentioned above, all set against we the people. If we the people don't arouse to what is being done to us politically very soon, and start exercising our First Amendment protection holding our representatives feet to the Constitutional fire en masse, while holding to our Second Amendment Claim. This republic is lost!J.T. Coyoté

And next time...
And next time there is 2 states or more with cannabis on the election ballot;I would like to see the foresight to create a little friendly competiton to help get more voters out!Legalizatition competition would add an element, taking foot ball mentality in people who don't watch or care for foot ball and putting it somewhere helpful.Colorado vs. Nevada would bring out something extra. And all the rednecks could do is cringe.According to the stats, Colorado can beat Nevada.Odds?

Mary Jane doesn't lie, cheat or hurt Us.
Plenty of the citizens I spoke to indicated the only thing or person they're voting for is 44.There is a population out there that is unhappy with the amount of negative ads and it turns them off to the point they will not vote for any of them. I thought I heard 90% of radio ads were negative. & some that aren't voting for politicians even w/o negative ads...Another group that doesn't trust politicians and don't give any of them a vote. People that believe all politicians hurt Us and lie and cheat. Or it doesn't make a difference, there all the same...Yet those same people believe cannabis deserves the vote and show up, just for Mary Jane. They know Mary Jane doesn't hurt them or lie or cheat. Before the election, I thought more people would vote for Mary than other issues, because I could sense those voters that will vote for Mary and nothing else exist.Mary brings out voters that otherwise will not be voting.
