SEATTLE Three men charged with smuggling Canadian marijuana into the United States last April have pleaded guilty, the U.S. attorney's office said.
Steven Beaudoin, 27, pleaded guilty July 15 to conspiracy to distribute marijuana. The two other defendants, Mohammad Master, 29, and Brian Davis, 24, pleaded guilty July 8. All three men, of Vancouver, Wash., were expected to be sentenced in U.S. District Court here in September. The offense carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Master and Davis were arrested April 8 in Whatcom County after Master carried 42 pounds of the drug from Canada into the United States on a back country trail, then entered a car driven by Davis, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Kate Pflaumer's office. Beaudoin was arrested later that day in Bellingham. Customs agents also seized $30,000 in currency and two vehicles. Pubdate: July 19, 1999Copyright 1999 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
