  Pot Summit Comes To DeLaveaga

Santa Cruz -- If you’ve got the munchies, DeLaveaga Park is the place to be Saturday. From noon to 5 p.m. at Lone Tree picnic area, marijuana supporters will meet for the local celebration of the Million Marijuana March. There, the UC Santa Cruz chapters of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws and Students for Sensible Drug Policy will host a barbecue they hope will be an opportunity for members of the local marijuana community to come together and meet each other.
"We’d like people to see they’re not so alone, especially if they’re medical marijuana patients," said local SSDP member Daniel Bear, a senior at UCSC.The Santa Cruz picnic is one of 200 gatherings in 37 countries to celebrate the Million Marijuana March. New York-based pot advocacy group Cures Not Wars first organized the international event about 30 years ago."It’s been so criminalized that people are sort of in the closet about it," said Ritika Aggarwal, a UCSC junior and founder of the school’s NORML chapter. "This is their chance to step out."The focus will be on socializing, not politics, said Bear. As well as food, his group is bringing Frisbees, footballs and lawn bowling sets. The picnic will also be an opportunity to prepare for the Supreme Court ruling in the case Raich v. Ashcroft, Aggarwal said. At stake is the federal government’s authority over marijuana grown and used legally according to state and local laws.If the Supreme Court rules in favor of former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft — the decision may come later this month — one casualty could be the pot farm run by Santa Cruz’s Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana. In 2002, Drug Enforcement Administration agents raided the farm, tearing up 150 plants just weeks before the annual harvest. The farm is currently protected by a federal judge’s injunction, making it the only legal marijuana farm in the country. But "their injunction will be dropped in 60 days if this comes down negative," Aggarwal said.Valerie Corral, WAMM founder, will not be able to attend the picnic, but said it will be a great meet-and-greet opportunity and "maybe to dispel the mythology that has been erroneously assigned to the use of some drugs."Those coming shouldn’t count on showing up to a cloud of pot smoke."This is a family friendly event," Bear said. "I have no doubt that someone will spark up, but we are going to ask them not to. We aren’t baking any special brownies, we aren’t handing out any joints when you show up."Note: Don’t expect to burn one down, it’s a meet-and-greet event.Source: Santa Cruz Sentinel (CA)Author: Elise Kleeman, Sentinel CorrespondentPublished: May 5, 2005 Copyright: 2005 Santa Cruz SentinelContact: editorial santa-cruz.comWebsite: http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/WAMMhttp://www.wamm.org/NORML - SSDP of Santa Cruzhttp://www.scdruglawreform.com/CannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

The Rolex Kentucky 3 day event is on TV on NBC. This is what I use to do but I never competed with this caliber of people and horses. 3 day eventing was really a great sport. I'll keep looking for news but right now I'm just in my own world again! LOL!http://www.rk3de.org/

If I had bet....
Thanks, Afterburner. I just can't do it. Doubts pop out all over if I do. I don't know why, but I don't have a betting bone in my body other than just an occasional nickel or so with family or friends...and seldom that. I dislike winning bets as much as I do losing them. I'm lousy at taking chances or risks.Being a bit "high strung" anyway, I guess I just don't like the feeling. It feels like anxiety, which is a bother.

Thanks for the link. I watched the Derby one year with a family who had a horse in the Derby. He was a veterinarian and bought him in a claiming race for only $5,000. He came in fourth which paid him a little money. I never pick the winner and I don't bet either. I always pick the prettiest horse and they usually don't win! LOL!

The Derby
I used to always watch it, but haven't in recent years. When I watched it I always picked the winner somehow. In my family we always chose a horse and rooted for it. I'm not a betting person but over the years, I could have won a lot of money if I'd really betted real money.Where is it on?

This is way off topic. Are you going to watch the Kentucky Derby today? I never miss it. It was a family tradition for me when I was growing up to watch the Derby. When I was at a horse show the show stopped for the running of the Derby. Enjoy if you watch it. I never had a Mint Julep though! LOL!

Ron, your choice of example is perfect.
"various folks who used to conduct drug raids, in particular cannabis grows, for the DEA who have since publicly done a total 180 and feel cannabis should be decriminalized/legalized/ignored"I really admire how you handle disagreements over at Cannabis.Com.. I hate to admit that I spent a great hunk of time reading a thread over there from last year about an argument between StonerPenguin and Del on posting about munchies. You handled it beautifully and graciously.

A friend at work told me about Ron Reagon's show. It aired years ago very late at night so mainstream America missed it. I searched the net for it but found nothin. It would be awsome if someone got hold of a copy and posted it on www.pot-tv.net

Off subject here FoM , I mentioned this long ago but could u talk to ron about adding a second domain name to this site??www.c-news.com or www.cnews.com , we would still have the address www.cannabisnews.com but people who are leary of typing that into a browser could use the other addy.
I personnally would like to make up some fliers to pass around town with the discreet address www.cnews.com on it.Adding a second domain name would only cost around $20 more a year.

Was just stirring up the discussion a bit ...
I was just stirring up the discussion a bit ... it's good to get into some intense back and forth conversation occasionally; participants being confronted with tough questions, alternate viewpoints, etc.We all have opinions on various subjects - and that's all they often are, just opinions ... true, cold hard facts are very difficult to pin down; what seems so clear often isn't when one looks deep enough and thus it helps to be open to other viewpoints and not be too set on a particular position; go too far to an extreme on an issue and one can easily end up at the opposite side of it - the Nazis took advantage of that human psychology in recruiting; there are various folks who used to conduct drug raids, in particular cannabis grows, for the DEA who have since publicly done a total 180 and feel cannabis should be decriminalized/legalized/ignored.Really digressed there - we need to have a get together sometime in person or via voice chat or something, since I'm sure I come across poorly at times in message boards ... but then most everyone does, and some in person too - just watched Real Time with Bill Maher ... he sure knows how to provoke and piss folks off, occasionally including folks who generally agree with him - he's one very talented comedian/commentator :)Not sure where I'm going with this post ... but for anyone who is thinking of leaving ... stick around - I only occasionally post, even on my own sites. There's definitely one positive thing we all here can agree on - Cannabis News is a great resource :)Ron

Oh no. We like you so much. I so enjoy your posts. I like you and Ron both. Just because someone thinks an idea or statement is "silly" doesn't mean he thinks you're silly. My mom uses the term all the time and I do get mad at her sometimes about it. It just means, basically, "I disagree.", to many people. It can be especially irksome to me, not so much anymore that I've made my peace with it, because I've heard it and been "pricked" by it all my life...because it's a favorite term of my Mom's, but I've finally learned not to be so irritated at it. Sure, it's not the best way to say it, "I disagree", that is...but they're used to saying it that way. I’ve tried to tell Mom how I feel about it, and her basic response is, “Well, I’m sorry, but that's just silly.” AAARGGGGH!!!We're such a basically reviled group in general, that it's so hard not to be sensitive...but I do wish you'd do the duck thing...you know...water off your back.I bet I irritate people with all my dots...you know...but that's the way I like to do it...saves all that concern about the right punctuation...sometimes.

I want to tell you a little bit about Ron Bennett. He is my friend. I grew up in Reading, Pa where he lives. I first met him on Cannabis.com in 97. I loved to find and post news on his site. He created and developed cannabisnews.com. To make a long story short Ron is an excellent young business man. He has always impressed me with his ability to see a way to move forward in his business life and he has. He gave me cannabisnews.com and he lets me keep my freedomtoexhale.com web site on his server. He has never asked me for any money. He is a captalist but he is a generous and kind person. When I am almost in tears I call him on the phone and we talk and he always helps me work out what is bothering me. He is confident and on the Net he might even seem arrogant but believe me he is so nice.

I don't want to get into the discussion but I love my DirecWay Satellite. When I upgraded to a DW6000 it has been almost 100% trouble free. I can do so many things and I never need to wait. It is expensive compared to dial up but I figure I can get housework done or any work done if I don't have to wait and wait to just check for news to post.I just did a speed test and this is the current result.Speed: 530(down)/252(up) kbps **It has been faster then that but this is what it is now.

I don't just use the internet to surf, but also to run my various internet businesses - plus my numerous websites, including the Marihemp Network / CANNABIS.COM ... if anything, cable isn't fast enough - may upgrade soon to their 6 MB service; even considering ordering business DSL service from Verizon to supplement my data needs (download speed isn't any better, but the data stream is far more symetric than cable; more equal speed in both directions, which cable certainly isn't - comcast in many markets is 3 mb down / 384kb up), but I digress - point is that Comcast for me, even at $179/month, is worthwhile and affordable compared to what was available a few years ago; their overall service has actually improved - is far more reliable than dial-up ever was.GreenGuy wrote:

MPP is taking this approach - I personally think they are a bit soft on their views at times, but if the MPP, and similar groups, overdo it they run the risk of alienating many folks ... it's a tightrope act, but again the key is to get the mainstream on board for real reform to happen.Ron

Comcast uses contractors too - those folks can be a mixed bag, but again, many of them are backed up with jobs each day and don't have time to play narc. With all that said, folks who use cannabis (and/or other illicit substances, etc) should be descreet and not leave things out in plain view - even if one is super careful, there's always a chance a well meaning neighbor, relative, etc may call the authorities for a totally different reason, such as one not being seen for a few days, suspicious activity, fire, etc...Store things OUT of plain view and there will be little reason to worry about the Police, Firefighters, nosy neighbors, or the cable installer LOL!Ron

Yes and No, Ron.
You hit the nail on the head about Joe Six Pack and Security Moms. There are even those who are conscience of the injustices of Cannabis Prohibition, and agree it's wrong, but won't do anything about it. I have been to a couple of anti-Iraq war protests locally, and I am amazed (and ashamed) that there are not more participants. For all the anti-Iraq war messages I have read online, there should have been thousands at these protests. I live in the Largest City in the South, and our biggest group was just three hundred. Explain that. If I can find specific info about Houston's MMM I will attend tomorrow. Even if only three people show up. I believe taking it to the streets is the most effective way of getting attention. But it takes thousands, not hundreds. How do you motivate more people? I have even considered trying to organize community education programs about Cannabis/Hemp. I know it's dangerous to even bring the subject up in some groups, but my anger over injustice is stronger than my fear of persecution or prosecution.I'm sorry. I see the point you are trying to make about the corps. not being All Bad, but I just don't understand why you don't see the danger in their influence in domestic policy concerning free market competition from Cannabis. Hopefully, public opinion will turn the tide. If it does, then I will agree that corps. are representative of the population. But until I see much more support from the corporate level, even for just the decriminalization effort, they will remain my enemy. Not that I can defeat them, just symbolically.Peace. National Health Insurance for All Citizens
PainWithNoInsurance-National health insurance for all citizens, focused on prevention, would greatly help many folks; medical cannabis would likely gain some traction in such a scenerio since the U.S. government already supplies several people with it, and further because the govt would be seeking to keep costs low - cannabis is a great low-cost alternative, much like aspirin is, for various ailments.Ron Bennett - CANN.COM

Addicted to Comcast - I can't live without it!
GreenJoy wrote:
We SHOULD in any way possible boycott all corporations that are diametrically opposed to our goal. How many here are hooked up via Comcast. You should know that they are a major contributer to a partnership for a drug free america. They are taking a portion of the money you give them to keep things the way they are-make them worse. Find another way. Don't buy a new car...you don't NEED it. Go used until they get the message and you can swing one of the new hybrids. Fight on every front! PS Beware the Comcast guy that gets to walk all around your property!I'm addicted to Comcast - Basic TV, Premium, On-Demand, Internet, etc. Comcast, like many other big corps donate money to many various organizations for tax breaks/community relations; many companies feel it's good PR to support PDFA, DARE etc.Boycotting Comcast would be silly since it won't do a thing to change their policies; if everyone in my town boycotted them, it likely still wouldn't make a hill of beans difference - boycotts are generally unsuccessful; can cause much collateral damage. In my view, a better approach is getting people to write letters, call, protest, etc about them supporting PDFA, etc - if they get enough flak, Comcast would likely scale back their financial support, at least a bit.I've never seen Comcast folks on my property without my knowledge - they basically have no need since their lines are overhead and accessible from off my property; Comcast, like most all cable companies, drive by occasionally to check for signal leakage (illegal hookups), etc - with that said, they do have a legal right to gain access to all their infrastructure, just like any other utility - electric, gas, water, phone, etc. Finally, I really wish the Comcast folks would personally come around occasionally to check the signal strength/service quality, considering I pay them like $179/month!Ron

Big Corps actions reflect that of population
Toker00-I understand your sentiments, but to blame big corps for much of the drug war, etc seems misguided to me ... the actions of big corps, by and large, simply reflect that of the population as a whole - if cannabis was legalized tomorrow, it wouldn't be long before big corps got into the game - ie. Home Depot would quickly respond with selling grow supplies, lights, videos, etc aimed specifically towards cannabis growers. The average Joe Six Packs and Security Moms (formerly Soccer Moms) are the real reason TODAY that cannabis remains so illegal - if enough of them called their representatives, spoke out, etc things would quickly change. Key is to get the "mainstream" to rally behind real meaningful drug policy reform without turning them off - bashing big corps, etc turns many folks off; reinforces various perceived negative stereotypes in their minds. MPP has the right idea with insisting their PR folks have a "clean cut" appearance and staying "on message".Ron

Druid, runruff, FoM, Ron Bennett
We did not get a permit to march at the Highway 420 Protest. The organizers said, "What do we need a permit for to exercise our freedom of assembly?" We walked down the sidewalk and we went to the park. In spite of the lack of formal official permission, we had a police escort and police supervision, er, surveillance. Smile for the camera, and be sure to bring your own and picture phones too! runruff, the First Nations of Canada, some call them Indians, spoke lovingly and with respect for their winged brothers and sisters and their four-legged brothers and sisters. The historical Druids of the British Isles believed that trees have spirits. Some people talk to their plants and notice that the plants seem to thrive. Scientific research in former soviet block nations has demonstrated the positive beneficial growth of plants that are treated with tender loving care. I was once amazed and delighted by a girl friend who gently touched the leaves of growing plants. I hear ya! From what I read recently about all the prescription anti-inflammatories, Aleve seemed to work just as well, and it had a lower risk of heart attack compared to all other prescription & OTC NSAID pills. So for the price of a copay you could get something just as good as prescription meds. It's stilll more toxic than cannabis and will irritate your digestive track, but it might be good for short-term use on really bad days.FOM - if I take "lunesta", do I get to sleep with the babe on the website? Runruff, have you ever checked out the reggae band "Groundation" from Northern California? They did an AWESOME concept album called "Young Tree" that is basically about the whole Emerald Triangle area & Headwaters, written from the perspective of some kids that grew up in the 70s in that area. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes roots reggae. I like a lot of different music & this is one of my favorite albums released in the last 10 years.

I appreciate your comments and wanted to explain my mine.I found I could not purchase health insurance that would cover my already existing back problems and couldn't afford the unreasonable price for it anyway. I can't afford prescription medications because of the unreasonable prices nor do they work good enough to buy. I am not aloud to medicate myself with Marijuana but I am aloud to suffer pain with no insurance. My views on the enviroment are from countless news, television programs, Jack Here's book, and personal experience of my 47 years on this planet.Large corporations are paying for congressional trips, parties, and whatever else to infuence votes (be it right or wrong for the enviroment) all for greed. According to Jack Herer and many other people, this activity has kept hemp (which is not marijuana) illegal. Herer's claims of hemp sound too good to be true but if they are then we should have been going that way long ago. Oil companies have a long been known to pollute land and air and get what ever they want.I hear countless claims the weather is indeed changing and getting very violent with no shortage of death and destruction. The heat alone is killing many people unlike never before. So if hemp or anything is the answer then we need it. I am one of 45 million people who suffer pain with no insurance and nothing is our answer.

No one has been around the block in this persons shoes. I believe this user name speaks directly to the plight of the owner. A fine user name. He's in pain. He can't afford the corporate pharmaceutical crap even if he wanted it, and a large posse drew down on him for 2 seedlings. My sitch as well. PS Beware the Comcast guy that gets to walk all around your property!

I have to ask.
So, Ron, you don't think there is a corporate conspiracy to keep Cannabis banned? You think the reasons Anslinger gave to congress for making "marijuana" illegal are the reasons it is still banned? You think Dupont didn't mind competition from cannabis fiber? I don't. I think there is obviously a conspiracy, and I will never suck up to the corporations like you seem to be doing. Forgive me if I took your defense of them in the wrong way. We were all born into consumerism. Not a choice, and it doesn't make it right. But,I will say it is not all corporations. Just the ones who don't want the inconvenience of cannabis competition. But then, that would be most of the Major Corporations, no? Not to mention the newly concieved ones, like Piss Testing. Do you really think the Corps. care anything at all about people except for what profit they can make from them? There is no humanity in business anymore. Or was there ever? If, somehow, we overpower the powers that be, and actually get Cannabis legalized, watch the Corps who now contribute to the continued prohibition of Cannabis do a 180 degree turn around. It will be the very corps that fight legalizing, making enormous profits from it, when it is legalized. Tobacco companies or any others just don't want to bother with the expense of retrofitting their factories to produce Cannabis products until they HAVE to. Nevermind the fact that their support for the legalization of Cannabis could make it happen a lot sooner. It's too inconvenient for them to care for the people and planet. It would take too many of their billions in profit to do things right. Corporations ARE mostly BAD, because of the Greed. But then, that's just my two cents worth, and not meant as an attack on you. You are not wrong Painwithnoinsurance. And certainly not silly.Peace. Legalize, then Revolutionize!

The flipside to that coin is that while it does serve us best to stay on message, All Is Connected. I think there is little doubt that we are destroying this planet. At this rate it is going to be one big scuzzy sewer when we've finished with "progress." Most of the extinctions of the last 150 years have humanity written all over them. They happened because of our greed, cruelty, and stupidity. [Precisely the underlying reasons of cannabis prohibition.] When no snow leapords are left, when the only tigers are the ones in cages, that will be entirely OUR fault. That is tragic!

Typical LIES from the drug czar office. Why don't these reporters EVER question these liars when they talk about the cannabis problems in the Netherlands? He talked about countries with a higher adolescent cannabis use than the US and then mentions the Netherlands, as if the Dutch kids were using more than the US kids.David Murray KNOWS this is a lie. The Netherlands is the ONLY country that allows for the regulated retail sale of cannabis and the Dutch kids use cannabis at a MUCH LOWER rate than the amerikan kids plus they test MUCH HIGHER in math and science. The Reverend Bud Green

Taking on too many issues dilutes things ...
PainWithNoInsurance wrote:

The change in the weather is killing off animals and increasing insect activity. These animals and insects have a job to do in the ecological chain and without them we are in big trouble...I was bored the other week and was scanning through the OnDemand stuff and stumbled upon Penn & Teller - can't believe I didn't discover that show sooner ... I'm curious if they've done an eposide on the Drug War yet - anyone know?Anyways, reason for bringing them up is they did an eposide on the Environment - while one may agree/disagree with their assertions, Penn & Teller make a great point about how many, certainly not all, folks working for change (activists) have a tendency to take stands on so many issues at once that it's not clear what they really are seeking; positions based solely on emotion as opposed to hard data.Evironmental issues are important, but to mix those issues into drug policy reform does little to help ... moreover it dilutes the efforts for real, meaningful changes in drug laws; lack of focus. In response to the environment blub posted by PainWithNoInsurance:Fossil fuels certainly aren't endless, but on the other hand they're no where close to running out either; remember back the power crisis in California a few years back - turned out the problem was lack of infrastructure and mostly market manipulation ... same thing is happening now with fossil fuels ... while on this topic, there is seriously debate whether "fossil" fuel is truly from fossils - while some certainly appears to be, a lot of it may come from chemical processes go on deep in the Earth ... if true, there may be far more supply than the public at-large has been led to believe; oil nations/companies like to tout scarcity to justify the exhorbitant prices they charge. The weather has always been, and will continue to be for as long as we all live, extremely variable and powerful - floods, vocanic activity, tornados, etc are nothing new ... and certainly *not* more common/worse than in recent recorded history (last several thousand years). And the weather certainly is NOT destroying everything; not even close - the world's human population is larger than ever ... if left totally to nature, large populations tend to experience large die-offs ... the return of society to raw "nature" would be devistating to human population ... likely even worse than a decent size nuclear war.Extinction, etc are problems, but no where near as bad as they're made out to be - there have been mass extinctions far greater than anything happening now nor predicted in the near future numerous times in the distant past; smaller-scale extinctions have occurred in the more recent past, such as during the past few Ice ages. And while on the topic of diluting issues - often I see a lot of threads about how bad big "corps" are ... while I certainly agree there is much abuse of resources, people, etc by big "corps" that need to continue be publicized/addressed, the suggestion that big "corps" are mostly all bad is silly given that most all activists rely on big "corps" everyday in one or more of the following:Automobiles ... GM, FORD, Toyata, etc.Gas to drive (most hybrids use some gas) ... BP, Exxon, etc.Electricity ... various large utilities (fossil fuels suppliers)Low priced goods ... Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, etc.Cellular phone service ... Cingular, Verizon, MCI-Worldcom, etc.Computer (PCs) ... HP, Dell, Emachines (Gateway), etc.Internet infrastructure ... MCI-Worldcom, AT&T, etc.Internet access ... AOL, MSN (Microsoft), Earthlink, etc.Food ... most folks, including many activists, don't grow all their own (few buy 100% organic foods); big companies are involved in numerous ways throughout the process.Really digressed in this post, but that itself illustrates the problem of mixing so many issues together - being focused on a particular problem is more productive ... end of my tirade. On an aside, the PainWithNoInsurance user name, brings to mind the issue of the Bush administration using the Social Security issue in large part (other reasons include the financial lobby which stands to make many billions from SS private accts) to divert attention from other issues, namely health care, in particular Medicare which could be insolvant within as little as a decade at the current rate. A serious issue, but here again, it shouldn't be mixed into drug policy reform beyond perhaps further justifying medical cannabis as being more effective, safer, and less expensive way to treat various medical conditions. On a more positive note, the various activities coming up are a great way for folks to meet, chill, and network - folks seeking information of MMM related activities, please visit http://members.fortunecity.com/multi19/mmm2005.htm and http://www.cures-not-wars.org/ (some content is in PDF)Ron Bennett - CANN.COM

I know the feeling runruff
And I sometimes think about giving up all together, to just separate myself entirely from the movement and forfet while handing it all over to the social conservatives on a platter. But in the end I know this is not right, and it certainly is not what our founding fathers would want us to do. They would want us to pay the price of freedom, which is to be watchdogs and to be a vocal voice, even if we are in the minority. It is worth reminding ourselves that progress is being made. 1986 20% of the U.S. favored legalizing marijuana for adults. 2002, 40% favor legalizing marijuana. 44% of Alaskans voted for a broad legalization scheme in 2004 for adults 21 and up. What does this say to me? It says that when we hit the 50% threshold, there are going to be states legalizing marijuana! You want hope? Hope is right around the corner. We are winning over the public, and we have organizations such as the MPP, DPA, and NORML to take the fight directly to the ballot box. We are winning over people in Congress and in state legislators with the medical marijuana issue that will provide a friendly alliance when the time comes to end marijuana prohibition in state legislators and to have states rights friendly politicians in D.C. to tell the others to back off!We have the media that is finally starting to include OUR side of the issue (the side of reason mind you) reminding the public that these warnings that the anti drug zealots are sending out do not have logically sound concepts of causality. We have our reform organizations being mentioned in the media more and more often, and they are growing in membership every year. Heck, even in my home state of Texas, a house committee passed a measure that would make 1 ounce or less = to a traffic ticket! What is my point? There is movement going on, and it is going in our direction. The government, the Bush administration, they are headed backwards from the way the public is moving. But keep this in mind. The public is here to stay, the Bush Admin is gone in 4 years! And in this 4 year period where we have this twisted anti marijuana administration, we can build our organizations up to be ready in case we get an anti prohibition elected body in 08. And even if we don't, we can still keep building support in the public. We are winning, and there is really nothing that can stop us. Support groups like the MPP, DPA, and NORML. Give them a chip of your pay check here and there and be assured we will win.

Don't give up now, it is getting interesting now. The deforestastion and burning of fossil fuels have upset everything this earth has to offer. The weather is destroying everthing and killing many people. Disease and famine are everywhere. The change in the weather is killing off animals and increasing insect activity. These animals and insects have a job to do in the ecological chain and without them we are in big trouble. This can not continue and is growing faster than it ever has in our life times. If people are knowingly contributing to these problems on a big scale because of greed then they are contributing to human suffering. I am interested in the outcome of this story and it seems to be on its way.How so many people with so much can cheat others because they want more is beyond me.

Lights that burn hot and bright burn out the soonest. Go dark for a while. Rejuvenate and refocus. Bend but do not break. Be like water. Now is the time. We may not have this chance again for a long time...till someday when the light of the truth is so stark and unrelenting that there will be nowhere for the darkness to hide. Maybe it will be a disease that can only be alleviated/cured by cannabis. Maybe the ozone will get so depleated that cannabis will be the only thing left that will grow. Like someone said in another thread. Its time for all who have a stake in the cannabis cause at any level to step up and be counted. PS Hope...you are awesome!!!

I really can relate to how you feel. This Bush administration is the worst administration I have seen in my life. I don't have any living children to worry about but I still worry. I worry because I feel the earth and the animals and people are gifts and we are to care for them. Try not to get weary in well doing but go for a quiet long walk in the woods and take pictures or videos while the trees are still here if for no other reason then you will appreciate them in your later years on this earth. That's what I would do.

Sorry, Runruff...
I know the feeling. It's part of the cycle. You've reached overload and have to shut down for a bit. It's part of it and it's a really bad feeling. You're tired and overwhelmed. You have to go down, lay down, and rest a bit to recover. But you can't quit. You know that. You'll round this corner and feel better. Give yourself a break. Even quit. But you'll recover. We're human. We can't run at high speed forever. It finally exhaust us. But being exhausted isn't really the end.Two weeks, that's all you can have to feel miserable and futile. Then it's back to trying to make the world a bit better place. It's hard. Dang, it's hard. But you can do it.Talk about it though. It's like puking up all the bad feelings that have built up to a poisonous level. It's like being sick. Puke it up. Run fever. Feel hideous. But then you'll gradually or suddenly get better. As long as you're alive, that thing that makes you who you are will rise up again, eventually, to make you stronger.

The Bush bain.
You know I just feel like giving up. I see my fellow Americans and their preoccupations, it just makes me want to give up. I see the long lines at McDonald's. I see the bovine masses shopping a Walmart. I see the runaway bride story on the news that never ends. Michael Jackson et al.
While Bush is opening up what precious little is left of our old growth forrest to clear cutting. Allocating more billions to fight his war for profit. Keeping oil as our only fuel way on into the future while America is pre- occupied with "bread and games" and why not this ploy worked so well for the Romans. A thousand years in fact.Everyone knows of course that Neil Bush Stold a billion with a B dollars from the Silverado fiasco while his daddy protected him from prosecution. Then using an old turd buy the name of Horowitz as a front man he bought the Pacific Redwood Lumber coumpany and went after the last stand of old growth redwoods at Headwaters. The project Judy Barrie fought so har to stop. Even getting herself and her husband blown up with a car bomb by the FBI. She was jailed and afterward contracted a rare rapid acting cancer that killed her in no time. Kind of an old FBI M.O. for ridding themselves of people they don't like.
Now Neil and his buddy with help from his brother George W. [lets rape the planet] Bush, they intend to steal as much of our forest as they possibly can for the next three years. Halaburton with tax payers money will buy all of it
to rebuild Iraq.
Who can stop such momentum? How many people even know what is going on? Who cares?
Here in Oregon Bush policies have started a feeding frenzy.
The loggers are cutting down everything in sight. Our sherrifs dept. is working overtime to protect them. It's sick.
I give up. I won't live that much longer anyways. I have no kids to leave behind. I going for the bread and games. I give up.

the Chicago March
has been cancelled. I got word that the permit needed was not secured in time. I do believe that maybe some people will try to secure a permit and get some sort of demonstration happening on later this summer.
