A former high school teacher charged with cultivating and selling marijuana at his Freedom Township home was being held yesterday in the Portage County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
Nicholas J. Dalpiaz pleaded innocent yesterday to trafficking in marijuana during an arraignment yesterday before Portage County Municipal Judge Barbara Watson.Portage County deputies searched Dalpiaz's Freedom Road home on Thursday and confiscated marijuana valued at more than $900,000; nearly 50 weapons, including semiautomatics and rifles; thousands of rounds of ammunition; $6,000 in cash; scales, money counters and two all-terrain vehicles.Sheriff Duane W. Kaley said additional charges against Dalpiaz, a former social studies teacher, were pending.
