Federal agents Friday raided a Roseville medical marijuana dispensary and the owner's Newcastle farm, seizing hundreds of plants that had been the root of a neighborhood uproar.Drug Enforcement Agency officers simultaneously served federal search warrants at Richard Marino's business and home. Marino, who opened the Capitol Compassionate Care dispensary in January, said the raids were a complete surprise.
No arrests have been made."I thought I was doing everything above board," Marino said during a phone interview from an undisclosed location. "I still think I'm doing everything aboveboard." Employees at Marino's store on Lincoln Way in Old Roseville were shaken by the DEA raid. Alan Archuleta, a shift manager, said agents stormed in at 9:30 a.m., guns drawn, and yelling for everyone inside to get on the ground.Archuleta said he was in a back room, and when he stuck his head into the hallway he was met with a gun in the face."Initially I was very shocked," he said. "I thought we were being robbed until I saw the badge. For a split second, it was very traumatizing."Snipped: Complete Article: http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/10623571p-11542295c.htmlSource: Sacramento Bee (CA)Author: Niesha Lofing -- Bee Staff WriterPublished: Saturday, September 4, 2004Copyright: 2004 The Sacramento BeeContact: opinion sacbee.comWebsite: http://www.sacbee.com/Related Articles & Web Site:Medicinal Cannabis Research Linkshttp://freedomtoexhale.com/research.htmPot Plot in Foothills Sparks High Anxietyhttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread19407.shtmlFew Complaints About Medical Pothttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread18666.shtmlThe Pot Shop - Roseville Press-Tribune http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread18294.shtml

Please Look At These Pictures
Doesn't anyone think that a commercial by Moveon if that's who makes the commercial could shed light on the terrorism that has happened to sick people over a plant? CNN covered the give a way and has to have great footage of that day. They should show terrorism right here in america. I thought of WAMM because of the Mayor and the towns backing. I wish I knew how to get an idea to the Kerry campaign. They need to show how bad Ashcroft and Bush have been after Bush said he was for state's rights.http://www.freedomtoexhale.com/eventpics.htm

This is just now went up at DU
It is really kind of rare for cannabis reports to go up at DU. The regulars have read enough to be savy and are pretty much against the drug war. Yesterday there was a poll go up and I saw it early. There were like 14 votes for unconditional surrender of prohibition and nobody had voted say it should stay illegal.I will put this up so that someone might inform them of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling. I put it up here also as a demonstration that things have different ways of being amplified by the Internet. I also put this up so that people might read comments from a more general population than what we have here with a bunch of cannabis news wonks. Here is the link- http://tinyurl.com/5e4dwIn times gone past what I would do is copy my comment from this thread to another website with the link back to Cnews so that people might know that there is a resource on past news and perspective by a bunch of cannabis news wonks. What we need is people to populate the various websites on the Internet. I am going to join CureZone.com and contribute when I can. AARP is one website where a knowledgable person needs to keep a presence. There are a lot of good comments here that can be copy and pasted with a link back here or rewritten with a new voice. Help spread some truth and get the water a little warmer. Warmer water will mean more swimmers and then Free Cannabis For Everyone.

Horrible What Happened to Brian
Is it open season on cannabists? Are the blue shirt crackdowns encouraging the brown shirt violence? "Stand. All the things you want are real. Re Labor Day & Back to School/Work
A similar pattern seems to be emerging in Canada/US: arrests of questionable legality, at least in Ninth Circuit and Ontario/Alberta, followed by confiscation and dropped or stayed charges. LEOs are harrassing patients and social/religious cannabis patrons. The fall or autumn crackdown on summer stragglers is a yearly ritual of corporate society. Back in the saddle, back in the harness. And what better way to underline the need for increased attention to law-n-order, then to bust a few hippies? How long are we going to allow this kind of discriminatory mistreatment of cannabists to continue? How long are WE.THE.PEOPLE, the citizens going to allow unrestricted discretionary powers to be granted and used by local or federal LEOs?

Blue States Beware!
If the Bush Regime thought they had a snowball's chance in hell of winning(or stealing) California, the feds wouldn't be terrorizing that state.9/11 Summer Of Truth - 2004:

Here we go again, same old harrassment game
You watch now... it'll be the same old thing---raid, destroy, and then NO CHARGES. - "We will collect all the evidence and present the case to the U.S. attorney's office," said Gordon Taylor, agent-in-charge of the DEA's Sacramento office. The decision to issue arrest warrants would be up to the U.S. attorney, he said. - The U.S. Attorney will NOT file charges because he knows damn well that he has no real jurisdiction or right to do so and that the 9th Circuit Court ruling spells that out clearly. This was done because this guy picked the totally wrong place in CA to do his thing, as evidenced by all his neighbors saying they wanted him shut down as soon as he moved in. The neighbors pissed and moaned to the local cops, who got the DEA to (gladly) do what they (local cops) could not legally do. - The conflict between state and federal law regarding medical marijuana deepened recently after two rulings by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that federal authorities do not have the power to go after noncommercial medical marijuana operations confined within the state. - The above snippet is very clever (or ignorant) in that it fails to clarify that term "noncommercial"... in actual fact it only has to be noncommercial *between CA and other states*... if sales occur between dispensaries and patients and all within CA, it is none of the federal government's damn business and is all legal. If I were this guy Marino I would sue everyone who made this happen---the DEA, DOJ, state cops for turning it over to the feds, and even the neighbors who all complained and stated the ball rolling. Declining property values will be the last thing they're worried about when they start shelling out thousands to defend the lawsuit.

I've often wondered
How could people burn other people at the stake...and decapitate...and torture people. The so called "good guys" and "authorities" of their era were the culprits. I have never ceased to be amazed at the depth of the depravity to which humankind can lower itself.

????
How can they be doing this in violation of a Court order from the 9th circuit?Guess he has the bucks to fight them and sue for damages. That will be good also since it will help expand the law.
