A second medical marijuana store has opened in Placer County. Located next to a pizza parlor on Highway 174 in Colfax, the Golden State Patient Care Collective began selling marijuana about a month ago. Co-owner Jim Henry said his dispensary provides a needed service to foothills residents and others with health problems. "People come in every day and thank us for opening here," said Henry, who is also an emergency medical technician.
As with the medicinal "pot shop" that opened in Roseville in January, the Colfax store finds itself in some controversy. At least one City Council member is unhappy that the issue of a medicinal marijuana shop was never publicly discussed by the council and says the store's presence is bad for the town's image."I don't think this type of business adds anything to the city," said Councilwoman Sherrie Blackmun. "I don't want Colfax to be known for this."City administrators said the cannabis club went through all legal channels to obtain a business license, and adheres to Proposition 215, which was approved by state voters in 1996 and permits medicinal marijuana for qualified patients. In addition, a new state law that went into effect this year allows qualified patients and caregivers to cultivate the plant. However, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration refuses to recognize the legality of California's medicinal marijuana laws and cautions the Colfax store owner not to be surprised if agents pound on his door with an arrest warrant."Marijuana is not a medicine," said Richard Meyer, special agent for the DEA office in San Francisco. "We take issue with the term 'medical marijuana.' "The threat from the federal agency worries Henry, 55, a Nevada County resident who along with co-owner Cheryle Reindeau, opened the Colfax store April 2.Snipped: Complete Article: http://www.freedomtoexhale.com/colfax.htmSource: Sacramento Bee (CA)Author: Art Campos -- Bee Staff WriterPublished: Monday, May 3, 2004Copyright: 2004 The Sacramento BeeContact: opinion sacbee.comWebsite: http://www.sacbee.com/Related Articles & Web Site:Medical Marijuana Information Linkshttp://freedomtoexhale.com/medical.htmThe Pot Shop - Roseville Press-Tribune http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread18294.shtmlStore for Medical Pot Opens in Rosevillehttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread18274.shtml

"Let's see what would be more acceptable."
Here's some more!Healing HashChronic Tonic (this one's too funny to be used seriously)Use them when talking to a DEA "special agent" in a debate:Mr. Meyer, do you plan to continue raiding the clinics dispensing Healing Hash?Mr. Meyer, do you feel justified in raiding a nursing home under the suspicion someone was using Chronic Tonic?

The court has told DEA to stay away from WAMM as WAMM has claimed all along that they do not participate in interstate commerce nor do the buy or sell the Blessed Herb. The "store" referred to in this story would seem to operate as a supplier exchanging goods for money. The whole federal Wo(S)D dangles from one thin verbal thread found in the constitution - not to mention a lot of twisted logic. IMO if this conservative supreme court is true to the core principles of conservatism then they will break out the scissors and snip that miserable thread. If that happens, we'll see creative, innovative policy making at the state level and as usual the cream will rise to the top.My non-authoratative 2 cents worth.

No No No Jose
We live in an illusion. We were taught as young children that in a democracy that all sides would be heard and only after all sides are heard the majority should be able to decide what is best for society. They think we don't have our heads screwed on straight.

like responsibility?
"I guess we don't like to listen to their (DEA's) ideas anymore either. "And here all these years I believed there was a responsibility on their side to acknowledge the fact that our side is telling the TRUTH.

He Doesn't Like It Called Medical Marijuana
OK I'll go along with that. Let's see what would be more acceptable. How about a botanical named Cannabis Sativa that has great medicinal properties. That will do.

I don't think they like to listen. I guess we don't like to listen to their ideas anymore either. That's why this is a war worth fighting.

Since When...
"Since when?" is right....Once meth becomes a problem in upscale California...that will be when. Also, DEA refuses to recognize the legality of California's medicinal marijuana laws and cautions the Colfax store owner not to be surprised if agents pound on his door with an arrest warrant. Will someone explain this for me; didn't the courts just block the DEA from harrassing the medical MJ folks in California?

"We take issue with the term 'medical marijuana.'&
This makes it extremely satisfying that 'medical marijuana' as a phrase has to be used every time this issue comes up. It's not going away and shills for the government arent swaying public opinion at all.

????
From the snipped part---Stores like Henry's are not a DEA priority, officials say. Many cannabis clubs have operated in the Bay Area without being raided. "All over California, our number one priority is methamphetamine," said Meyer (Richard Meyer, special agent for the DEA office in San Francisco)Since when is my question?
