Elk Grove -- The Elk Grove Planning Commission voted 4-0 Thursday to recommend amending the city's zoning code to include medical marijuana shops.A call from someone with questions about opening a medical marijuana shop prompted the city to take up the issue of zoning these businesses. In January, a medical marijuana store opened in Roseville.
California's 1996 Compassionate Use Act legalized medical marijuana on a doctor's recommendation. The zoning amendment would put conditions on where medicinal marijuana can be sold, said Christine Crawford, Elk Grove planning director. It would allow such a business in shopping centers provided it is at least 500 feet from areas zoned residential and at least 1,000 feet from schools.Snipped: Complete Article: http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/medical/story/8658519p-9586392c.htmlSource: Sacramento Bee (CA)Author: Diana Lambert -- Bee Staff WriterPublished: Saturday, March 27, 2004Copyright: 2004 The Sacramento BeeContact: opinion sacbee.comWebsite: http://www.sacbee.com/Medicinal Cannabis Research Linkshttp://freedomtoexhale.com/research.htmCannabisNews Medical Marijuana Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/medical.shtml

Legitimacy
Yes EJ, medicinal cannabis is surely gaining legitimacy isn't it? It should have never been made illegal in the first place, but it's time is finally here and it isn't going away. The "petro-ceutical" crowd can only hope to stall the cannabis plant's acceptance by the mainstream. The way out is the way in...Out of Bounds: The Sleeper Story from this Week's 9/11 Hearings:

Just a Note
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Since the news is slow I thought maybe some of you might want to check out VH1 Classics tonight at 8PM ET to see Inside Greendale. This is not the movie Greendale that is in theatres now and will be released on DVD in May but how they made it in the studio. There is a cool license plate on the wall and many other little things hidden in this video. Here's the information. It's on channel 337 on Direct TV but I don't know which channel for cable. ***8:00 PM VH1 Classic Concerts: Neil Young: Inside Greendale Neil Young and Crazy Horse perfrom songs from his new album, "Greendale". http://www.vh1.com/channels/vh1_classic/channel_daily.jhtmlInside Greendale: http://www.freedomtoexhale.com/insidegreendale.htm

What a sad state when we have Souder in office
Souder is an embarrassment for Indiana like Jesse Helms was for North Carolina. A free media would end his political career just like jerrymandering now preserves it.
Sending Souder to Congress does not say much good for the people in his district either.

South Carolina is about to go full police state
There is a bill about to be introduced to the South Carolina state legislature that will increase the punishment for owning "drug paraphenelia" from a civil offense to a criminal offense that will increase current penalties from what they are now to 30 days in jail AND a fine up to $50,000.Does anyone have more information on this? The members of the South Carolina house are assured that this bill will pass in order to lower drug use in the state.

This will give people confidence
Once they see that medical marijuana can be regulated politely without armed force, the idea will spread...
