Ottawa - Health Canada is threatening to force licensed users of medicinal marijuana to give the agency permission to pass on personal information to the police. Letters "strongly urging" medicinal users to sign and return the disclosure consent forms were sent out last week by Health Canada. But users of medicinal marijuana say that is an invasion of privacy and are afraid the information could be misused.
"This unsolicited letter shows Health Canada more than strongly urging. It is bullying and threatening," said Philippe Lucas, Director of Canadians for Safe Access to Medicinal Marijuana, a non-profit organization. "Why should chronically and critically ill people who use medical marijuana be subject to different rules and regulations than other people in Canada?"Health Canada says it needs the consent form to confirm or deny that someone is authorized to possess or grow marijuana. It's used, for example, when police arrest or question a person who claims to be a licensed user.Currently, Canadians who are licensed to use or grow the drug by Health Canada are given the option to consent to such disclosure when they make their application. More than 70 per cent have already done so.But last week, those who did not sign received forms and a letter from Health Canada "strongly encouraging" them to sign and return the papers. The letter, dated Jan. 20, also says Health Canada is considering making it mandatory to disclose such personal information to police agencies."For the present, your consent to disclose remains voluntary," reads the last paragraph of the letter."Given concern for the public good, however, Health Canada will be looking at making consent to disclose to Canadian police agencies mandatory in the future and to make disclosure a requirement in the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations. EJ - ain't it the truth!
So true - who is Taraki, was he the Afganistan leader? Many financial analysts feel that the US is headed for a "Greater Depression" because of the unsustainable load of government and consumer debt. Bush & Co. stopped the normal cyclical recession from happening by lowering interest rates as low as possible and cranking up government spending. But, as they say, "the taller they come, the harder they fall" - we will all have to pay the piper someday. For a preview, check out the former Soviet Union, now barely able to feed itself. We could all be starving in shantytowns by 2010. I am not kidding at all. One of my friends is professional financial analyst for a huge corporation, and he's been putting all his money into gold Krugerrands.

I don't think he will be at the Rectory. I didn't know they could up and fire a Priest. That's what it seems they're doing. I didn't post it because it is a sad bust story and I'm sure he is upset enough without me having it on CNews if he would happen to see it.Norton Priest Won't Return:

Sam Adams, the Cold War was better
When the Soviet Union was still around for us to compete with and obsess over, conservatives wanted to be as unlike the Soviet Union as possible. Now the Bush administration seems to absolutely unafraid to copy Brezhnev in domestic and foreign policy.Taraki was Brezhnev's Saddam, and look where that adventure got them.

Sometimes I wonder why I care about changing the laws concerning Cannabis but then I read how upset this has you and I get all fired up again. I could be doing so many other things then news but this issue is important. Cannabis is a Schedule I drug while Cocaine is Schedule II.Something is really wrong when I think of this and it keeps me going. God knows how I dislike hard drugs and the damage they can do but Cannabis helps people feel better and it's side effects are a smile or two and a case of the munchies.

WHEN WILL THEY END THE STRESS??!!
Thank You FoM :o), but it wasn't the first time they put ALL of us in stress situations. We ALWAYS have to bow and comply to everything they ASK..or ELSE! I will have to renew and reapply for a NEW Exemption for a 12th time in 4 years. It's a type of stress that no other very ill or dying people has. Do we need this? Who other sick people in our country has to go through this HELL? I wish that none of these OGRES gets real sick and ever need marijuana as th ONLY medication their liver and stomach will tolerate..which is my case since 8 years and also the case
of so many others. Thanks again for your understanding and support FoM...I just wish this time that all that imposed stressed in my deteriorating condition will not give me more suicidal thoughts because of them.Peace,Marc

I understand the stress. It's enough to drive us totally crazy but we can't let that happen. They'd blame it on Cannabis! Isn't it all a great big pity? You aren't alone. Hang in there.

WHEN WILL THEY END THE STRESS??!!
Yes :o( ..being a medical marijuana Exemptee myself, I received that by mail last Friday. They already know that one of my condition is chronic anxiety with severe depression. It just stressed me further more...and that's not the worse of it.Last Monday, I called to see if I could speak to the new MMAR boss at Health "Hell" Canada, Mrs Valerie Lash, and as usual, they are always in conference. I gave her secretary the message about my Exemption that was expiring in April, and that I already had sleepless nights because of it, because none of my specialists want to impose their signature on their MMAR application, and I asked her to tell Mrs Toscano (in charge of my file at HC) to phone me back swiflty about it. I asked them if it was OK if I could use the same 4 page Exemption extension form than last year, and that took only the signature of my doctor. I told Mrs Lash's secretary that I didn't had the intention in bringing them back in court if they didn't want to.Well, more and almost sleepless nights followed, because NO ONE from HC called me back! Isn't that neglect or not? The only thing I received from them was that letter about divulging our Exemption to the cops.I have a message to them about this. The cops in my town already has 2 copies of my Exemptions...the first in March 2000 and my last in April 2003. I had no choice to give them the copy of my last Exemption because I was a victim of home invasion by thugs last Autumn. Will I get a 12th Exemption? Who knows? So, what more do these careless and neglectfull people want from me...my SKIN?I'm so tired of ALL their bullshit and harrassments. Peace,Marc

Look at the headline
You'd never see that in America. We just don't say nasty things about Big Government like that! I seriously think it all started in WWII - this big love affair with federal government. In Europe, a lot of the countries were thinking, look what these idiots got us into - our beautiful, 400 year-old cities are bombed flat, 2 million people are dead. In America, they were thinking, "this is great! We're the BEST! The US government saved the world!"
