Medical marijuana advocate Steven Wynn Kubby, a fugitive from justice in Placer County, vowed Tuesday to appeal a ruling that denies him refugee status in Canada.Kubby, 56, who fled to British Columbia in 2001 rather than serve a 120-day sentence for a drug conviction in Placer County, was rejected Monday by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board.

Dear Friends,A lot of people have written to express their shock and outrage over the recent Refugee Board decision. Steve and I are so grateful to have such extraordinary and caring friends.Speaking of Steve, I'm pleased to tell you that he is doing better. We were concerned for awhile about possible nerve damage, but our doctors have advised us that Steve's symptoms appear to be resolving. Steve is walking straight again and the night sweats are gone. Thank goodness for cannabis!I have to admit I've been in a lot of fear lately. Steve helped me to realize, however, that the government controls us through our fear.Yesterday was my daughter's fourth birthday, so I decided to get over my fear and see to it that her party was the best damn birthday party on the planet. And you know what? She came up to me afterwards, gave me a huge hug and said, "This was the best birthday ever!"I feel great right now, because I've taken back my power from their fear-mongering. While I was out shopping for the cake, balloons and streamers, I was so happy to run into so many of my wonderful Canadian friends and neighbors, They all knew about the decision, but all we talked about was the upcoming party. My friends grounded me and suddenly my life began to feel totally and delightfully normal.I wanted to write all of you and share this story, because I've found first hand how important it is to reclaim our dignity and our lives. So I'm living life now regardless of the words they use to frighten me. HEALTH MINISTER PROLONGS SUFFERING The Minister of Health, Annette King, has again decided she has the sole right to allow people such as Mr. Leo Danger to continue to live a quality of life far less than he deserves to be living. Her main objections to allowing people to use cannabis when instructed to do so by a doctor or specialist seem to be that the dose cannot be effectively measured and that she does not believe that most members of the house would want her to approve medicinal cannabis use until it is proven safe. GreenCross Medicinal Cannabis Support Group members are appalled that Mrs. King would use misleading comments and prefer that people suffer and die while she waits for official figures and clinical trials. Dr Donald Abrahms of UCSF is an expert in the area of cannabis use as proven by the Masters degree he holds on the subject and as a medical doctor specialises in the area of HIV. As recently as this year Dr Abrahms team have proven that cannabis is actually effective in relieving limb pain in people suffering HIV.
 
Safety is gained by using a vaporiser or eating cannabis which is something Mrs. King well knows but chooses to ignore as evidenced by her written answers in the house which show she frequently refers to the smoking of cannabis. When an AIDS sufferer faces death it is nonsensical to tell that person smoking cannabis will cause harm to the lungs. When a cancer patient chooses to end chemotherapy because the nausea is so bad or to expect Mr. Danger to suffer a life of semi consciousness on valium and morphine is nothing short of hypocritical and politically motivated bad medicine.
 
As Minister of Health Mrs. King should immediately acknowledge the evidence available and immediately move to stop the suffering our current cannabis law promotes. Greg Soar

Bravo Steve!;You have just lost a battle..not the war! Just by appealing at this board will save YOU and your FAMILY from deportation in less than 30 days. It can stall for more months if not a year or more and if this appeal is rejected, you can still go at the Federal Court for $50! :o)Peace and good luck Steve!Marc
